I was a volunteer firefighter in 2013-2014 and i thought the whole time that fire technology for major defense and personal PPE should be greatly looked at to be advanced. I understand its not as easy said as done, but when tasking people with our lives in these situations. Maybe it would be better to put money toward day to day defense on the land and fires than at war.
With the fires in California, it seems more effort and finances should be allocated to training all able-bodied men and women who are willing to fight fires. That way, too, you'll have less exhausted firefighters.

This is worthless. Retardant is used to create a fire front. It is never used to put out large outdoor fires. I'm speaking on what was directly told to me by CAL Fire. I talked to multiple chiefs who work in the rural Sierra Nevada when setting up my prevention system. THIS IDEA WILL NOT WORK

Chemical retardant slows down a raging wildfire. It will not save a structure on its own. This is a bad idea. Source: years of fire science education.
We have a device in our cabin. It's been on the wall above the heater for as long as I can remember. Small glass bottle with red water I think. Activated by a 22 she'll in bottom. Thank God it's never been tested if it works.
Get rid of that immediately! The liquid inside is very bad !! Saw some on a tv pawn shop show, maybe could be sold to an informed collector. The ones on the show were very old, like yours i'm assuming.
