More people should groom their own dogs! And I’m a groomer! I personally think most groomers are mean!!! I have been grooming since I was 19..I’m about to turn 50! And have been doing this a long time and have seen what goes on behind closed doors! And they torture your dogs and then you pay them for it 😡 I have a shop were I do it I’m front of a window, and I’m the only groomer here I have 2 assistants who wash and dry for me. But it’s much kinder for you yourself!!! To groom your dog! Don’t let anyone but you!
I agree! My first pet, a Mini Schnauzer, surely went through unspeakable torture when his (too long) nails would be clipped down. I know now how much pain he was subjected to. 😔 I now groom my own dogs and have for the last 40 years ever since a breeder told me that the *best* thing she could recommend was to groom my own dog. After all, as I learned, if I did a bad job, my dog never knew and the hair grew neck so I could give it another go! I have on my family now 3 poodles, a Giant Schnauzer, a mini Sheepadoodle and an Airedale. I also do once a year cuts for my neighbors' Australian Shepherds (we are in Texas, folks - it's HOT and with inside doggies using the AC while folks are at work, well, they need haircuts!!!). And if my neighbors' dogs' nails are long, I snip them a little and give instructions for tiny snipping on a weekly basis so those poor animals don't suffer. 🐾
As I’ve been watching lots of videos to learn to cut my new poodle’s hair, I can’t believe how many rude groomers there are even on UA-cam! I have a couple that I really like, and I guess I had thought they would all be like that. But I watched one that spent the whole video manhandling and berating this poor dog who was honestly standing there really calmly, and in between yelling at the dog, she was complaining that there were any tangles at all in this dog’s coat (and it didn’t seem like many). Why are you a groomer if that offends you so bad?? I’m horrified!
I am a groomer. THAT STATEMENT is NOT TRUE!!!! Not ALL groomers torture dogs!
I’m trying to get into it. I have an Aussie Doodle and and it takes so long. I ordered clippers, guards, I brush his teeth and trim his sanitary. I want to start doing his nails and full trimming and scissoring. I go to pet smart and feel they are not the best but okay. They don’t really know how to doodle groom. They told me they couldn’t round his face😐. It went to $60-90 in a year.
Amen. I had a beautiful person grooming mine and we moved you she helped guide me to learn out to groom my own. I have a bernedoodle now so learning how to do that
I’ve watched what seems like 9million videos for how to groom my aussiedoodle. I just wanted to say that yours was the easiest to understand and most thorough. Thanks so much for posting.
Of course! Thank you for watching and I am glad it helped you out! 🤍
As a beginner dog groomer I always say “I’m not going to charge people $80 for me to bath their dogs in a cute smock and say I’m a pro, it’s not right.” This is stuff ANYONE can do at home and get better over time, it’s a wonderful skill to acquire 🐶🐾☺️
I inherited an Aussie doodle when my FIL passed away in December 2023. I've never been a pet parent of a pet that needed to be groomed (other than bathing and brushing and nail trim). The first time I took him to a groomer I really didn't know what to ask for (as far as cuts). I told the groomer I wanted an overall trim and the hair cut out of his eyes. The groomer suggested a "winter cut". That sounded good to me (being a newbie and knowing nothing, I trusted the groomer) so I said o.k. When I walked in to pick him up I was SHOCKED! He hardly had any hair left at all. I'd call what the groomer did a summer cut and it was the middle of January. My poor little boy had to wear his sweater constantly for a month. I recently received everything my FIL had for my little guy and I discovered he had a grooming kit so I've now entered the University of UA-cam to learn how to groom my sweet little doodle myself. Your video was perfect. I learned so much. I've been petrified to clip his nails for fear of hurting him. The tip about the black dot - perfect. I now have the confidence to give it a try. Thanks!
Got my first doodle! He is a Bernedoodle and fabulous. I learned so much watching you. Thank you soooooooo much!
You are so welcome!
Excellent video especially for beginners. You made this simple and comfortable. Thank you I truly appreciate this video ❤
Great video! Instructional and heartwarming to see such a gentle rapport with the dogs!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Your narration was just excellent. Thank you for all the great information. 🙏🏻
EXCELLENT VIDEO. I am gonna groom my adult GoldenDoodle next week. You really made it all make sense!
I did my own grooming for about 15 years and then I injured my back and was fortunate enough to find a good groomer who does my 2 standard size doodles and my small miniature poodle all for under $100. so that's who does it now. I still have my equipment so if I ever get back in shape, I will groom them myself again. It's a great bonding time. Thanks for the great video!!
Of course! That’s so awesome you found someone you like to groom your doggos!
Glad to see another video! Hope you’ll be making more! Good grooming video
Thank you! I for sure will be!
I LOVE this video!!! Thank you!!
What a beautiful Bernedoodle! We are getting our puppy next month and i may give this a go. Thanks for the helpful video 👍🏼
Of course! I am so excited for you guys!
Omgsh thank you so much for this video!! I have three doodles and grooming can get pricey and I’d love to be able to just do it at home, this video is super helpful!!
Thank you for this very informative video 👍🏽 I'm just about to give my
Spanish Water dog/Irish Water Spaniel mix a cut for the first time and I'm very nervous but your video has helped alot 😊 Thank you from Spain 🥳
Fantastic !!
Your dog looks nervous but very well behaved!
Love the videos. Please keep the videos coming :)
Thank you! For sure will 💞
Thank you very informative and helpful information..💛🐩🐕
Of course! Thank you!
A couple tips from my perspective... Brushing and combing is really important during their haircuts! Combing out the face and legs in-between scissoring will help create a softer look and prevent "rough" cuts if that makes sense. Also make sure the coats are BONE dry when cutting, especially with the guard combs! Wet hair cuts differently than dry hair!
Thank you for the info!
Love all your puppy content! Love love this grooming video! Please post more grooming how tos like this 🥰🥰
will do. Thank you 💞
You did a beautiful job gorgeous berner doodle
thank you ❤️❤️
After years of taking my doodle to a groomer I’ve decided to do it myself. This was very helpful 🐕🦺
Pretty good job!
Great video
Professional Groomer here! You're doing great! I love this informative video and how you covered all the bases fully.
Thought I'd add some tips:
- 5/8" comb (0), also comes in a blade. With wavy doodle hair like that, the 5/8 blade could make the hair look much more uniform!
- You dont have to take any hair off before bathing, unless the dog is super hairy. Typically with a well-maintained coat, we bathe and blowdry, and then do all grooming afterward
- Brushing! It sounds crazy, but brushing out a dog fully before using a guard comb will actually make the coat fluffier, and in turn have a better result after the shave.
- As far as faces go, its the biggest learning curve. But! "ZoomGroom_Anna" on youtube has PHENOMENAL doodle head instruction!
Thank you for watching and thanks for the tips! I will for sure have to go watch her video. THANK YOU 🤍🙌🏻🙌🏻
Is the zero blade a 5/8”
Just ordered clippers and a 3F blade but no idea where to find a 5/8 blade
Nice!
You are brilliant. I always take my doodle’s to a groomer but one of them is neurotic and I don’t think she is very nice to him. Maybe I will give it a try.
I loved this video! Do you have any tips for clipping a round the face? I started grooming my shih tzu puppy recently but he gets aggressive when I clip around his face.
Thanks
I always do rough cuts on my clients it's so much easier to blow dry their har that way also less product is needed if it is a trim with the clippers :D
These are the exact reasons I do it too 🙌🏻 works like a charm!
Great thank you! Question about what you use for feet. I think I heard “30” but I do not know what that refers to. My clippers are all sized by measurement such as 1/4. 5/8 etc, thank you
We have a Labradoodle named Lykke and she is nine months now. We have never groomed her before. And I think it´s really funny, I´m going to do it myself. I have watched a lot of videos to lern. I must say that I think you are so careful and treat the dog so cautious. In some videos I have seen I think they are kind of rough to the dogs. Keep up what doing.
Thank you so so much!
Q
Thank you, that video was helpful. I just moved to a small town and the “doodle” groomers are not what I am use to. I am now considering grooming my cockapoo myself. 😳. I’ll be back here!
Yay! One of my must haves Pupwell, is actually on sale! Check them out! They have amazing at home grooming courses! www.thepupwell.com?sca_ref=1910088.b1TrGf7b0g
Thank you for sharing your experience. You have done fabulous work. Both of your dogs were very good. I have two dogs, Piper (Labradoodle) and Freckles (Golden Retriever mix). I would need the grooming table to combing, brushing and cutting my dogs. Any suggestions where I can get the table?
There is a link in the description for the table I use! Amazon is my go to 🤍🫶🏻
Good job 👍
Thank you!
I've watched about 20 videos over the last week trying to figure out how to do this myself. You're voiceover explanation is the best by far! Thanks. Would you suggest the same clippers for a 1st timer?
Thank you!! Yes I have loved them!!
I bought the clipper you linked and the detachable combs you linked and the combs were too small. Had to return them
Would love to green my own Aussie doodle any tips? Do you have to have certain clippers?
Thanks for this great video, I have two mini labradoodles and have bought the Andis clippers with guide combs - now to give it a go!! Where do I get the shears from please- I’m in Queensland Australia 💕🙏🏼
Pupwell is an amazing brand to get shears from! I am not sure they ship overseas… If you message them on Instagram tell them I sent you and ask!
That doggy is so cute and calm. I love his coloring, and his wavy coat. Where do I get one just like him? I don’t even know what kind he is. 😊
Bernedoodle 🐾
Great Video…We are gonna groom our 4 month old Bernedoodle for the 1st time. Wish me Luck.
Hi, how did you get on? I’m thinking of grooming my puppy first time too but feeling scared I’ll make disaster of it.
Doing a great video. Was wandering what type of electric trimmers to buy for my doodle?
Thank you! I linked my favorite ones in the description 🙌🏻
It doesn't look like you have a blade cover on the clipper or do you?
What type of clippers do you use?
Koda❤
Great video but .... we have a doodle and I groom him myself. I really struggle with the sanitary area and the head. Unfortunately the video didn't show how you groom their belly/ bum area. Can you direct me to a video that does?? Otherwise, great video 👍🏻
What do you do with tickly feet
I am considering getting a doodle dog, can you please advise how long it would take to groom a dog this big and how often it would need to be done, I don't think I would be able to afford a professional groomer, maybe the first one before summer each year and then I could hopefully keep up maintenance during the hot months (I'm in Australia).
I have a brown poodle . How old are your dogs? They are beautiful!
I love brown poodles! They are stunning 🤍 Mav just turned one and Ruby is two! Those are the dogs in my home 🤍
I have a 7 months old goldendoodle, how do i keep him calm under grooming?
Practice practice practice! We start getting our puppies used to grooming starting from 3 days old with our curriculum. This prepared them for a life full of grooming and when you prepare them right, it makes grooming easier. The more you brush, comb, clip, and groom your dog the more used to it they get and they learn it’s okay, but keep in mind you don’t ever want to overwhelm the dog or puppy. With my puppies I also always have treats when starting full grooms. Whenever they react well to the clippers and grooming I reward them with lots of love and a treat. This gives them a positive association with grooming.
When you groom to this length, how long do you go between groomings?
I normally go about 6-8 weeks when I do this length, when I want to keep them shorter I tend to lean towards the 6 week mark!
Can you add the link to the shears you used???
The link is in the description!
What table is this? I have a 70lb doodle I don’t wanna get one to small
It’s one on Amazon! I will try and link it!
amzn.to/3Y3vb09
Is she a golden doodle? Because she looks more like a bernedoodle to me.
She is a traditional tri colored bernedoodle:)
Also how many dogs do you have? Please answer 💕💕💕
I have two in my home, and currently five in our program!
That’s so cool! I have never owned a dog before but I love taking care of dogs. My friend has a flat coated retriever he is adorable!!! I love to take him on walks. I really want a dog!!!
Thank you for being a caring loving and responsible breeder! You and Bailey are the best!!💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Please put more light on to show while grooming. Difficult to see. Thx!
How do I clip matted hair by my female dogs private parts, she has licked it into a matted ball above her pee hole. I'm nervous about trying to clip there
10’blade and very carefully. Go under her to see what you’re doing like you’re working on a car😂
bien tondre goldendoodle ❤❤ 7:47
The paw pads first, really? Do you live in a city and have totally indoor dogs or something? Do your dogs ever have FUN or run around a park or anything like real dirt? My dogs paws are so dirty that shaving feet is almost a separate operation as I usually walk the dogs to dry them in summer, so paws are dirty and filled with grit and will ruin my clipper blades.
Wash the dog first
@@marietteblaides5461 I agree wash the dog first. I think I remember her point was paw pads take the longest to dry, that's why she clips them out first while dry, but the dirt is horrendous in paw pads and will dull your clippers quickly. I have clipped out a dirty matted paw pad first though, clippers be damned, just because the mat was bad and needed to come out. So I can kind of see her point. I only got through most of two paws, amatuer that I am. And, I did need to thoroughly clean my blade directly afterwards as it wasn't usuable for anything else after all that paw dirt, so count on that happening. Actually paws are such a big issue, and not having a good pro bath setup, as a home groomer I would almost like to wash just the paws in a tub, dry up and clip on a different day than the rest of the body. Or you at least need at least one spare blade set just for the paws.
Really why the fancy name doodles? Regular Americans call them dogs.😊 Some people do not need papers to make their best special.😅
