He was so harsh but the message was so deep
He wasn't harsh, he was honest. Notice later in the episode, the bench Maya chose to paint had her and Riley sitting in it. At the moment, Maya is a bit lost in Riley Land and she doesn't know who SHE is. That's why she painted a purple cat.

It's scene makes me tear up every time I watch it because she's trying to say what she feels but Riley isn't listening to her.
I believe the reason she painted a purple cat is showing that she's spent so much time with Riley that she's starting to become her. I also believe the reason why she painted it like that (abstract and not just a purple cat) is saying that you can't tell what she's feeling from looking closely at her, you have to take a step back and look at all of her to realise she's turning into Riley.

It isn't that Maya is becoming Riley, what it actually is that her feelings are getting overwhelmed by the purple cat so much that she can't hear herself.....even if she might wanna slow down and be a little soft, she feels like it isn't what she wants but what Riley would want.....maya cares for riley but that does not means she is becoming riley,it could just means now that she is coming to an acceptance that she isn't broken,is it so wrong for her to want something else than always being a rebel, she is funny,adventourous but that doesn't mean to be herself she always has to break rules....and when maya did start accepting that she always didn't have to be so tough, everyone goes and drills into her head tht she is becoming riley and that she wants lucas because of riley....that is completely wrong and unfair

Honestly, I kind of get what he's trying to "achieve", but he's the worst type of art teacher. Art is not about being done when someone else says your done, it's about creating what you see, what you feel. I had a teacher who would push students to add more because "if you can still add to it, it's not done" and "it's not done until I tell you it's done", and those pieces she made them continue to work on until it was crowded always looked worse than when the student wanted to finish it. It looked like the artist hated the piece.
Well honestly it's not about hating the piece if you worked hard enough on it to be finished with it. Because that's what I think.
@@thefighter5182 The problem was that the piece was finished, the artist liked what it was, they didn’t feel the need to add to it, and they worked hard on it, but the teacher decided it wasn’t finished, and made them add too it and ended up with a piece they hated by the time she liked it, and she decided they were “done”

Maya's life is fully different from riley she didn't had a proper family, love, guidance when she needed as a young growing child and now she is getting all of it she is improving her self as a better person but riley is being insecured and keeps reminding her of childish past and she Is changing as a person which isn't true
That's why people never receive love when one sacrifices, the other is happy but when the first wants sacrifice other won't give him back and it hurts the person who has sacrificed and is left alone 😔😔

Can someone explain to me this whole triangle thing?
In the show Riley and Maya like the same guy named Lucas. He likes them both however he can’t figure out who he likes more. The three of them are apart or a friend group that was established in their middle school and childhood years. None of them want to see their friend group fall apart because Lucas decides who he wants to be with. But Lucas doesn’t want to make the decision alone wanting Riley and Maya (who have been best friends since they where kids) a voice about how they like him. Lucas also doesn’t want to ruin Riley and Mayas friendship because of his conflicting feelings. Which is why in my opinion he involves them in the decision on trying his best to figure out who he likes more and how they like him.
So if my opinion that they are called a “triangle” which is a visual representation of the relationship they all share at the moment. Lucas is the point because they both like him. Riley and Maya are the sides that connect to the point of the triangle (Lucas). But also the illustration of the third side of the triangle should be highlight in my opinion because it is the side that connects Riley and Maya to each other. The side that connects them together the longest to symbolize their long friendship. And in my mind the third side symbolizes the strength of their friendship with each other.

I only watched it sporadically or when BMW characters would appear so I was a bit confused with the whole triangle story and where it came from. So thank you I now have an understanding of the triangle and the meaning behind it. 🙂

ambrollins baby honestly I agree maya isn’t a good friend to Riley she couldn’t even tell what was happening to Riley when she was getting bullied but Riley knew smth was wrong straight away, farkle is a far better friend the maya he loves her and knows almost straight away when things go wrong for her, oh let’s not forget the time maya didn’t even notice that Riley still likes Lucas such great friend. I disagree Maya is an amazing and great friend. She always puts Riley first. When she and Riley both liked Lucas she had him choose Riley. And I think Riley can be a bad friend because when Maya starts getting good grades and becoming a better person Riley was convinced that she was becoming her what does that even mean? She wouldn’t accept that maya is changing and in my opinion seems to almost force people to believe that she wasn’t herself anymore just because she is CHANGING. That’s my opinion bye.
