I have really severe chronic pain in the joints in my body, particularly my legs and hands. So my service dog litterally has to help me with almost everything I do because I'm physically just not able to do many basic tasks, like bend down to pick up my shoes, put on a jacket, hold my phone in my hand for long periods. My service dog is my best friends and partner. She helps me in a way no one else truly can and I love her for it. To all the people saying this dog is being "forced" to do things or is a "slave" understand that dogs love us just as much as we love them. This dog love to do these things for her partner because it makes her partner happy and is rewarding for her. And if you dont believe me my service dog Rosie will literally help me without me even needing to ask her anymore. When my alarm goes off in the morning she'll bring me my slippers and my cane. If I'm laying on the couch she'll bring me a blanket or the book on my desk. When I'm cooking and turn towards the fridge she'll open it for me because she knows it's hard for me. I don't even ask her but she does it and everytime I thank her and give her pets or hugs or a treat. Dogs are not like people, they love unconditionally and give with their whole heart.

Please don't pay those people any mind. They simply don't understand how the brain of a working breed functions. Breeds that make the best service dogs are all working dogs... and that's not a coincidence. They make the best service dogs not just because they're trainable, but because they actively ENJOY doing it. It gives them stimulation and fulfillment. They're much, MUCH happier doing these tasks than they are laying around doing nothing... in fact, laying around doing nothing causes them to get extremely bored and can even result in destructive behavior, not just towards their environments but towards themselves. They're miserable if they don't have enough stimulation.
Your Rosie loves you and loves that she gets to do those things for you. She's literally the result of centuries of breeding that makes her hardwired to find doing those things FUN.
Don't let any amount of ignorance upset you. Love your Rosie. Cherish her. Give her all the pets and treats and love and keep making each other happy.

I worked at a firehouse a couple years back, and there was a stray dog that came around every once in awhile. I was playing fetch with it, with a stick I found. After awhile my boss yelled at me to get back to work. So I hid the stick so he wouldn't be searching for it. A couple minutes later he brings me an empty tin can to play fetch with him again. I kicked it around for a little bit and hid the can, just as I did the stick. The dog ran off, but this time I followed him to watch what he was doing. He ended up pushing over a trash can with his paws and getting an empty water bottle out of it, and then brought me it. Most adorable dog of all time.

To everyone saying that Jaquie is treating her dog like a "servant",
Harlow is a SERVICE animal that belongs to a woman named Jaquie. She has many, many medical disabilities/chronic pain disorders.
She *can* walk, depending on the day. Some days she has to use her wheelchair or a walker; however, if she's in a lot of pain she can't walk at all. She's quite ill and frequently has surgeries. She eats through a tube so she is usually very sick and weak.
Everyone who is judging her, implying thay she's mistreating her dog by treating it as a "servant" is ignorant. Jaquie cooks for her doggy, takes her dog on walks (on the good days that she herself can walk), and takes Harlow everywhere she goes. She has one of the happiest animals walking this planet. If Harlow were not happy, she wouldn't continue to help Jaquie.
The dog was determined to be intelligent and willing enough to go through training to be a service animal. That's what Harlow was born to do. Of course it would be different if she (Jaquie) weren't disabled and if Harlow were not a service animal, but *that's OBVIOUSLY not the situation*
I guarantee you that dogs are happier being interacted with like this than left at home all by themselves while their owner is at work or having their tails pulled by 2 year old toddlers. Dogs love physical and mental stimulation. Believe it or not, they don't usually _enjoy_ spending their lives sitting on a couch bored out of their minds. (Hardly a surprise.)
It's annoying and saddening how quick some of you are to turn to judgment. Jaquie is going through enough without incredibly rude individuals accusing her of mistreating her dog, which she thinks of as her own little baby.
Please don't judge people before you understand what their situation is. Ignorance isn't a flattering trait on anyone. Use the mind you were born with for something more important than insulting heavily disabled individuals.
Try to get this comment towards the top to reduce some of the ignorance, please. Thank you for taking the time to read this. You're beautiful, have a lovely day.
(By the way, since she wasn't given credit for her video, she has a UA-cam channel called "Chronically Jaquie". Go over there and give her some love. She needs it!)

Billy Wheaton Maybe sometimes. But definitely not always. I've seen poor slave dogs in school cafeterias having their paws constantly stepped on by kids while they're trying to crunch themselves more under a lunch table so as not to be stepped on as much. Meanwhile they're expected to carry heavy books for some disabled kid in noisy, crowded hallways, and if the kid is epileptic, the poor dog may be frightened when the kid starts spazzing out, but is tethered to the kid with an extremely short leash and so the dog can't even get away to get some relief. Always makes me all sad to see one of these dogs when I visit schools. 😢

For those who sadly don't know about Harlow's ownef Jaquie had a rare form of mitochondrial disease, a genetic mutation that only one other person in the world had. 0Because the mitochondria are crucial to cell function, Jaquie had more than eight chronic illnesses, including Ehlers-Danlos syndromes, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), and gastroparesis.
She died April 29 2019 from her feeding tube rapping around her intestines. Harlow alerted to many medical episodes and retreuved things Jaquie could not . the dog was vital to her.
Harlow is now living with her husband Judd.

No, it’s really not. Sometimes cats don’t like the litter. They can also be picky with how deep the litter is.

Can we stop with the "that lady is so rude the dog is not a slave!!" It's disgusting how you are all concerned more for the dog than her. She was chronically ill and passed away in her 20s due to her condition. The title says SERVICE DOG. Do you guys not know what a service dog is? They're trained to help people like her. No she can't do those things herself, that's why she has a SERVICE dog. To them it's not a chore. They enjoy helping people, it's like a game to them. Look at the dogs body language. It's not distressed, it's not upset. It's happy. It's wagging it's tail. It's enjoying doing what it's doing. I'm begging you all to quit being ableist for five seconds. Shame on you.
EDIT: This is getting more attraction than I thought it would but anyway there's a difference between people not understanding and then out right being mean and cruel. This comment is targeted towards people who are calling this woman lazy, a fat slob, a pig and so on. It' s not aimed at people who are just innocently asking questions. I'm so sick and tired of disabled people being told that they're lazy or faking their conditions. This behaviour should be called out and shouldn't go unnoticed...which is why I made this comment.
