2021 update: I recommend Lemon Cymbals over Pintechs. You get far better cymbals for your money and they're about the same price! Check Alibaba for Lemons.
Now THIS is what we’ve needed for a while. Excellent video.
Please make more like this with different setups - like what would you do with $2k? How could we get dual zone heads? Are there better modules with more inputs or a larger set we could build? Hope I’m not asking for too much haha...
Thanks again for another great video.
This is a great guide! I was thinking of making a triggered arcoustic with a td8 module so this helps out a lot! Great video as always.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Sweet man!
Nice build! I built my own A2E conversion a while back. I used fiberglass window screen mesh for the heads, frisbees for cymbals, and piezo sensors and TRS jacks for the triggers. I set it all up with the Alesis Nitro module and the Nitro's hi-hat pedal. LOTS of DIY work, but about $300 all-in. I'm looking at upgrading the Alesis with a Roland module though.
that sounds amazing!
Excellent!
Many thanks!
Exactly what im wanting to do
Good luck!
I’ve been looking at your AtoE conversion videos for quite a while slowly piecing together all the pieces to make my conversion kit. I was wondering what’s a good cable length I don’t wanna have this monstrous cable but I also want to make sure I have enough.
Great project! Thanks for good options, especially for cymbals, but can you show how the whole kit triggers and how it sounds?
see my more recent videos for something pretty close
I found it ! Thanks
Glad I ran across you on UA-cam!! You know what you are doing and what you are talking about, unlike so many others. I have several acoustic kits along w/ 2 Roland full E Kits and what I call my Octapad Kit, but I've thought about an Acoustic/Electronic hybrid kit just to add the appearance and feel of an acoustic kit live on stage and this is A GREAT VIDEO on that transition for me!! Thanks...... You mentioned the Roland controller models, I was curious if my TD-8,TD-9 and/or TD-20 Roland Modules would all work w/ they type of setup and especially the triggers you are recommending? Really digging on that red kit you built and am seeing that in my future for a stage setup, might make it an option for me where I could either use the electronic cymbals or possibly use acoustic cymbals if I wanted.........Hmmmmm
You shouldn’t have issues with any of those Roland models with most triggers. Yamaha is the only one that makes stuff that’s wired almost completely differently than the others.
@@demonicsweaters Thanks my friend !!
Another great video. Glad I found your channel. Quick question. Well 2 anyway. 1) I have a Nitro like you do/did and was wondering would all of these triggers work with the nitro brain and cables? 2) is the pintech tc14 chokeable? Again thanks for the great videos!!
Yes, they'll work with a Nitro module, but I wouldn't use a Nitro module for a conversion kit. They just don't work very well in this context. no, the TCs aren't chokable, but they work pretty good.
does the roland rt-30h trigger connect to the TD27 multipin wires ?
I'm not sure what you mean
Hey man Great video!!! got a question for you!!! The rubber on your rims... where do you get that?
oh good question! Pintech sells that stuff! amzn.to/3lJd4IQ
You can also get it from R-drums and drum-tec
Hey great video. Getting ready to convert my acoustic set. Looks like Prism heads no longer available? Do you have other heads you would recommend that won’t break the bank that would work well with external triggers?
I recommend drum-tec heads. Send them a message and let them know which triggers you're using and they'll tell you the best heads to use.
How do the ddrum triggers compare to the triggers mounted under the skin inside the drum?
Deep subject, too many variables. The simple answer is one is on top of the head, the other is underneath. Both will have varied results based on many factors.
Have the prism heads given you any issues since you’ve had them on? Im wanting to start a project similar to this but when I go online to look for mesh drumheads it’s overwhelming how many different ones there are on the market.
not at all, I wouldn't buy anything else honestly. For the price and look you can't beat em!
Thanks a lot! I’m ready to start on this project, probably post some pictures as it comes along.
@@jonboydelivers1097 awesome!
I have a steel snare will the conversion still work?
@@jonboydelivers1097 I've never tried a steel snare, but it should!
