Action on Violence Against Children (AVAC) is a new campaign to build public awareness, and to galvanise political will and resources around the staggering incidence and impact of abuse and violence against children across eastern and southern Africa. The regional campaign brings together leading children’s organisations, such as Africa Child Policy Forum, The Africa Experts Committee on the Rights and the Welfare of the Child, Child Helpline International, Plan International, Save the Children, Sonke Gender Justice and UNICEF. The campaign will focus on seven countries to begin with: Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Malawi, Swaziland and South Africa.
