Well it's a matter of taste in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I do find the US show hilarious too. I just consider the UK version more diverse regarding not only games and contestants but also their individual styles of improvisation, and the fact that they don't have to think so much about censorship seems to help with that.
Stating the obvious. I agree.

Though US version did air some raunchier scenes like "We are watching Animal Porn" and "The Letter H", but then again making fun of Hitler was censored. I personally like both UK and US versions but US version is way more stale. They don't mix the package enough. Improv-a-ganza was amazing to watch because it was hardly ever with the same pairings used in US WLIIA.
When Greg says thanks for the memories is he referring to Frank SInatra's Thanks for the memory? I can't think of any others that were out before 1993...

Well diversity - no argument there.
But the US show raised the bar wayyyy higher.
Well then perhaps you could explain why the same performers were regularly funnier on the US version than on the British version?
The British version has less censorship, and stayed more true to 'rules' that the US show bent (some things were fixed), but they did see better results for it. The US show is the only show I've ever actually blown a button off my pants with from laughter.
Give an artist a tool and he will be able to do great things with it, even work around censors.
