I have 2 miele canister vacs (one was given to me for free 25 yrs ago by an elderly neighbor who purchased and never used it!). I love having a hepa filter bagged system; so much easier and cleaner. Will never go back to bagless. I tried and disliked the Dyson upright vacuum - the dust bin emptying was a pain in the arse and so many plastic pieces broke over the years. I would stay with Miele no matter what.

Holy wow! First I tried the Dyson, very uncomfortable. Hated the way the head moved around and it also hurt my hand near my thumb because I had to hold my finger on the trigger. Then I tried the Miele. I am in absolute love. Being able to move the canister depending on what kind of job I am tackling at that time is amazing. The whole vacuum is amazing. Comfortable, perfect, amazing. And I seriously can’t believe Dyson does not have headlights. Oh my goodness gracious, Dyson can take a walk as far as I’m concerned!

    • @cristian_pop

Dyson has a even better headlights than Miele which is present on V12 and V15 Detect models.
V15 is the flagship model, and not even presented here because this "review" is biased. Moreover, the light is laser light basically, not whatever basic LED present on Miele. Please make a check on v12 and V15 Detect models and you'll change your mind - especially V12 has a classic on-off button, so no need to hold the trigger all time.
I have a V12 Detect Slim model, I have a cat, and the delivered results are just perfect. Not less. And this model is also very light and easy to handle, a real pleasure.

For anyone who is considering to buy Dyson please check small wheels next to the motorhead. They are getting worn after very short period of time and guess what they are starting to scratch your hardwood floor! We have 2nd vacuum cleaner from Miele (cable one - cx1) and we never had any issues. Suction power from Dyson is great, also design but overall no go for this amount of money. And the wheels need to be redesign! Its an design issue.

I picked up the baseline Miele vacuum with an extra battery because all the models are the same (minus the led lights on the two higher models. It's the attachment assortment that's different such as the extra battery and the cradle for the battery which, if you were to buy the cradle by itself that's 238 bucks. And since I have tried all the Dyson models and ultimately went with the Miele because of the weight on the wrist. Being able to change the weight distribution was the key purchasing Factor not the .001% Dust collection difference between the two models. Lastly there is no direct instruction to wash with water the main internal filter that you lift out of the unit. It does say, for the base module, in the manual to remove and knock in to a bin. There is a warning against cleaning the inside of the fine dust filter. I've had zero issues with 2 dogs using the base model and I think it's time Dyson had a healthy competitor.

I spent hours studying and reading up on both. I'm going with Miele as the Dyson is too heavy, unwieldy and having to constantly squeeze the trigger just screams fatigue and pain. Buy the Dyson if you are a weight lifter or a masochist.

    • @AC-tn1cy
      @AC-tn1cy 3 роки тому +4

My wrists get sore with my Dyson using just the hand held without the wand on, it gets heavy and cumbersome for us 50+ users
I propped my Dyson up against a wall while moving furniture and watched it fall and bounce 3 times on the charger and now the power button doesn't work.
I'm wanting to try a Miele because of the versatility to shift the weight around (canister) and that it will free stand on its own so no more unexpected crashes. Setting a Dyson down gently is not something I want to think about when I'm cleaning my rugs/floor then switching to vacuum couch or my mattress.

I have the Dyson V11 absolute for a year now. It vacuums great, when it works. Unfortunate everything is wobbling. The trigger is the big problem, first when it was new you only had to watch and it powered on, that is very annoying, after a half year it was difficult to turn it on with the trigger, you have to squeeze so hard to get it on that my fingers hurt and have blisters after 5 minutes. This is a common problem on many models of Dyson and Dyson does not change it. So next time I will buy the Miele! Dyson should get rid of the stupid trigger and make it more firm.
Well I phoned Dyson and they send me immediately a brand new Dyson V11 (updated version). So next time I buy a Dyson I take the 5 years extra warranty, so you can ask once a year a new one when it stops again.

I'd be more interested in the lifetime of the vacuums. Had a Dyson cordless, the battery went to crap after 9 months and when the battery doesn't last as long, the suction isn't very good for a lot of the time you do get out of it. I think Miele will be the next brand we try.

You might’ve gotten a defective one we have Airbnb’s and the vacuums are used every single day in each house and we still get almost a half an hour on low with our old vacuums after five years I’m using them every day which I’m sure is more than the average person we are just upgraded all of them to v11 after I got the v11 outsize for my personal home And I assume the batteries only get better with each model that comes out so if you had an issue after that short of a period I would request a new device it probably is just a dud companies have to make billions of batteries a year sometimes they might just not be calibrated or built correctly

I have a Dyson v8. At first it was convenient without a cord. Emptying was easy but now it opens itself and spills on the just cleaned floor. The battery had to be replaced after about 18 months and the Dyson replacement was never as good. The battery now stop starts and there is little to no suction. My biggest beef is I spend more time cleaning the soft floorhead than I do cleaning the floors. It is painful, dirty and frustrating. Hair tangles around the end nuts and requires all manor of sharp tools to get at it but with little success. The velvet strips on the foot had to be replaced and they barely lasted 3 months. The small roller on the foot is also now sticking and dragging and marking the wood floors. The filters have to be washed but then you are without a vacuum until they dry a day later. I am now in a dilemma, do I replace with another stick such as the Miele or go back to pulling a cord around. The vacuum I had pre Dyson was a Miele barrel which lasted well over 20 years and is still useable in the shed. I like the Triflex but will it last and how much cleaning of the vacuum itself is involved.

We've had two $$$ top of the line Dyson sticks, and they're garbage. After the first one, I don't know why we let ourselves be talked into buying a more expensive "newer model with all the problems fixed" after the first one was SO bad, as was the heinous customer service. The second one was worse.
Dyson knows they're selling $$$ obsolete crap, and they sooo don't care...remember, most vacuums work OK out of the box, so read reviews from real owners who've had their vacuum for at least six months. Look online for the complaints--that's the real story.
A $600 to $800 vacuum should last years.

The Miele filters aren’t washable according to Miele. The Triflex Achilles heel is its dust bin design. Having a filter that clogs easily and you can’t wash out is such poor design, dirty and very unrefined from a German designed product. Dyson cyclonic technology is the best in the industry. You only have to look at how long it takes the filters to even start to discolour. It’s several months in most cases, and there are no filters to bang or brush dirt from.

Dyson are miles ahead of the cordless game. Miele are OK but there’s a number of drawbacks.
    1. They are terrible on plush pile carpet. With only 2 speed settings and the absence of adjustable gates on the cleaner head, they are impossible to use on plush pile carpet. Dyson has 3 suction settings and adjustable gates to combat this.
    2. Dyson has dynamic load sensor technology on models from V11 upwards. Adjusting the suction (and therefore battery life) depending on how much dirt is being picked up.
    3. Dyson’s filtration is the best of any bagless machine. Miele filters become clogged very quickly compared with Dyson filters, which can be washed as little as once every 3 months.
    4. The emptying mechanism on Dyson cordless vacuums is far superior to Miele. The ‘point and shoot’ of the V10 onwards makes emptying the dust canister much easier. Granted, this isn’t as hygienic as using disposable bags but if you’ve bought a bagless machine this will always be a drawback.
I’ve nothing against Miele overall but Dyson trumps Miele and any other cordless machine on the market.

I bought a Triflex in April last year. The motorhead broke down in July. I sent it for repairs, in November it broke down again. After 1 month of arguing with them that this is clearly not made to last, they decided to send me another motorhead, which took a month to arrive. After only 1 month of use the new motorhead broke down as well. Very disappointing!!!

      @Eric76 2 роки тому

It's not worth having a washable filter as it takes days to dry and does not allow operation of the suction of these Dyson stick cleaners to work properly unless it is fully cleaned and rinsed out, dried or both. I have used a DC59 cordless stick cleaner for 4+ years, and have experienced issues trying to get these aspects of the Dyson suction system to work optimally. You will sometimes get the vacuum working intermittently until you fully resolve the cleanliness and dryness of their HEPA washable filters. The canister also needs periodic cleaning around the motor, otherwise the suction is also affected in the same way.

I was always happy with my Miele canister vacuum but I bought a Shark stick vac when I moved into an apartment. Now I'm back in a house and I've been saving for a Dyson v11. I've just heard about this Miele. How is it with long human hair? It's too bad Miele didn't copy Shark's super easy to clean brushroll. How often is it recommended to change the filter(s)? Thank You for this demo, I'm really interested in this one now.

We've had 2 Miele HX1 vacs and BOTH HAVE FAILED. The square drive that rotates the brush roller always strips and this is very bad design fault. If using plastic (as Miele do) it should be much larger to withstand the friction of the brush on carpets. Or, if they still want to use such a small drive dog to spin the brush, it must be made of metal, perhaps aluminum.

After selling both products for over 10yrs... Dyson is the clear loser in cordless vacuums.
    different
The batteries for the Dyson's only last 10-15mins on full power. 20-22min on lower settings if your lucky. (verified by Dyson)
To change the battery on the Dyson is somewhat of a pain to do if you need to do so. keep in mind that Dyson don't sell batteries for the V8 or previous models. This means you need to throw away a vacuum that set you back at least $1K
Dyson also claims never to lose suction. "Radial Cyclone" which is incorrect. If the chamber to the vacuum gets clogged it stops.
    Miele vacuums.
    Customer support - Amazing
Easy changeable batteries. 2mins at most
120min run times on standard settings
Easy adjustable unit to suit your needs. (hard to reach places). in 3 easy steps
    MADE IN GERMANY
    And lastly, Price
Top of the range Miele "HX1 PRO" will set you back $1199AUD which comes with extra Li-ion battery & Charger plus tools.
Top of the range Dyson "V15" will set you back $1499AUD... No extra batteries or charger. However Dyson do offer a new interface LCD screen to show you what was cleaned and so on.
I have both units and the saying goes - less is more!
Dyson adds all the bells and whistles to make consumers feel better about buying their products. But at the end of the day, Do you want flashing lights that really don't serve a purpose. Or, buy something that will last.

The V11 IMO just based off how many cone into my store for repair is Dysons worst stick vacuum. Not reliable at all for a 800 vacuum. The Cat and dog has a washable hepa filter. And is a slick Onyx color. 8lbs total weight made with quality Abs plastic not garbage plastic that breaks easily. He didn't show how easily the brush roller is removed for easy cleaning. It can be used as a 2 ft tall stair vacuum as well. Check ou Saras Vac Shack if you have questions I'd be happy to help or answer questions. 😉

Dyson wins with its low weight and easy emptying, Dyson also took the European Union to court and forced them to change the law relating to energy used in vacuum cleaners, much to the irritation of those manufactures who were relying on antiquated technologies and their big names to hide behind the outdated standards. Don't be swayed by the 1 hour run times of either model, unless your'e living in a mansion. These machines can deep clean, but in reality, they are used for quick cleanups. 30 minutes cleaning is enough for most people.
