  • I fixed my bumper on the Prius! I didn’t think I could but I really wanted to atleast try! I used my fiberglass repair kit and bondo glass. I'm professional body/paint tech. You did fine, those repairs should hold up decently. For future bumper repairs, if you can get a used section of ANY plastic bumper, keep it around to cut out patches you need. Use zip ties and a soldering iron to "weld" your patches in, and then use the fiberglass over your patch for stability, but you won't have the issues of forming the fiberglass to shape

    Fiberglass resins will hold to a ABS bumper but unfortunately not for long. It's not the proper way to repair a plastic bumper cover

    Good job. I do this as a living customizing cars. . But when fixing. It. Try drill small holes on each piece. And then glass it so resin absorbs in holes for stronger bond

  • @TCreatorO
    @TCreatorO Рік тому

    Thats was pretty good, but personally I would drill a bunch of holes on the area of the bumper that you fiberglassed over, so that the fiberglass chop strand and resin can bite better onto the plastic, you can still do it now, without removing the patch you made.

    Use to teach kids body work in jr. college some kids would get SO pissed when I taught them plastic repair and told them when they bring their fucked up bumpers in that its best to just buy a new one but no no no these kids had something to prove to me so theyd be trying to fix it and realize its way to hard and the repair looked like shit

    After fibreglass work take as cold of a shower as you can and use a loofa the cold water contracts your pours in your skin pushing the tips of the fiber out of you the loofa catches them and removes them instant stop itch this works for any Fiberglas products insulation for your house boat repairs or body kits and everything in between

  • @saltiness_incoming1407
    @saltiness_incoming1407 2 роки тому

    So my first question is is the bumper plastic or was it fiberglass because if the bumpers fiberglass it made sense of what you were doing but if the bumper was plastic and you put fiberglass on it that doesn't make any sense never going to Bond properly and it's eventually going to break but quite frankly it looks like a plastic bumper that one single break could have been easily done by using the metal squiggly Heat inserts and it would have been cheaper than doing the fiberglass without knowing what was made out of I guess we can't really tell
