I remember coming into Gracie Humaita Reno Nv at 58 years of age and 280 lbs. .. Royler couldn't help but nocie me in his Seminar ,... He used me as a Dummy to semonstrate some techniques, he watched over m e like a concerned father while I was practicing, he "Thanked" me for being there and pointed out most guy's my age are sitting in a recliner watching TV. ... I stayed with Roylers affiliate in Reno, I am a Blue Belt today.. I have a lot of Respect for Royler and All the Gracies! GJJ for life!
Royler is a true legend and inspiration. Great roll Jake! Really really good defense. It has been fun going through these videos and seeing your position game develop. Anyone who trains would know the style of roll that is correct etiquette when invited to an academy. You have always shown that. Thanks for doing what you do! Awesome!
What a stand up guy! To hear him give praise to not only his own father, but to his uncle as well is so warming. He hasn't forgotten his roots. Class act
Another excellent video and roll with a true master - awesome to see smiles on both faces (most of the time)! Thanks for such an in-depth look into the life of one of the originators of this wonderful art.
Thank you for sharing this interview. It was amazing. Master Royler is the man! I found jujitsu later in life. I wish it had discovered it earlier. But, better late then never. I love the passion Master Royce has for jujitsu. Osu!!
Brilliant and informative, I love the way the person you are interviewing is telling the story, as opposed to being all most a side issue as I have seen elsewhere, really inspired by your work 🤙🏾
I have had the pleasure of having met Royler and attended a few of his seminars.. Royler is a AWESOME guy, Happy, Funny, and Cool as long as your respectfull.. But I saw a guy get under Roylers skin once, .. I saw a look in Roylers eyes, and his voice changed and it scared me!...Royler is a little guy physically But his knowledge and Spirit makes him a GIANT!.. Royler is full of knowledge and he has lot's of stories.. My Favorite story is the story about his Father, his uncle Carlos Sr. and some sharks the encountered while on a cruise ship!.. ROYLER ROCKS!
tricepsish Watch Marcelo roll with Jake in his episode... I had no idea jake was even a grappler. No disrespect to Royler, but Marcelo is something else.
walid ben ahmed Man, I've been training for five years, I do understand some bjj. What I mean is that Jake has envolved, I'm not saying he's world class or that he could beat Royler, I'm just saying he was not submited several times like he did against Caio Terra, Jeff Glover, and so on. He's a black belt now, after all, but of course the top guys are completely different animals.
walid ben ahmed Oh, and if you misunderstood me, I said Royler might have given up on that kimura atempt when he realized it was well defended and might have gone for something else.
the first time i watched this... i thought wow royler can't do much... but after a year i seen it differently now.. as he catched jake a lot of times but just lets go...
I agree, but I think people are used to seeing guys like Gordan Ryan or Gary Tonen. Royler is good, but he's no longer top-of-the-top tier like he was.
cant tell how good he actually is its kinda hard to match some one thats been shrimping since he was in the womb or some one that had dedicated years on end to be the best
Imagine that jj evolves like everything else. Royler is around 55 years old now and probably he started his training around 50 years ago, he is totally oldschool. You know what is the diffrence between Royler and Eddie? Royler proved his ground before, capturing multiple world titles and ADCC titles, losing only few matches in his entire career. On the other hand Eddie Bravo won ONE big match in his entire "career" and stopped competing after he was destroyed by Leo Vieira. Zero achievements on the highest level, none. Same with his students. Speaking about DDS, dudes from 10th planet are regularly destroyed by them. Marcin Held, who is a good grappler, but is fully into mma for last 15 years, casualy walks into a grappling competition and taps 2 top dudes from 10thp in less than few minutes combined. Their system is so good, that they can't win any medal on ADCC, never. No Eddie Bravo and DDS without Gracies. Casual lol
budo jake you seem like a top guy real nice decent person ,i dont want to offend you but i dont think you should be wearing that black belt from what ive seen in these videos, even from your confidence level i mean i know your with rikson and royler gracie but that shouldent matter, you should be confident in your self defence and that doesent show my friend i just felt that its a bit disrespectfull you turning up to these places with a black belt.now i dont know you or know were you got your black belt i may be wrong but from wat i see you aint the real deal.again no offence meant, peace and good health to you
I've had a lesson with Royler. His pressure is just out of the world

So glad I learnt with these guys, to have a deep understanding of the self defense... 20 years on I'm teaching my kids. Nothing changes.
Royler Gracie is a true master. Great man...total,respect for him.
Royler is an amazing teacher, an amazing human being. You guys are lucky yo train with him.

Great interview. Really like Royler's perspective. Thanks for the post.
What a stand up guy! To hear him give praise to not only his own father, but to his uncle as well is so warming. He hasn't forgotten his roots. Class act
Everyone except the man responsible for rickson bring so good and advancing jiujitsu rolls Gracie the best one . Not helios son but carlos

Royler was already a demon and right at the end it totally cemented it at 29min mark!!! good one! love it.
Love your episodes. Thanks for all you do.

Royler seems like a really nice dude and a great teacher. Jake did pretty damn good in that roll!
damn! gave Royler a hard time sparring!
Great Episode! You gotta do one with Jean Jacques Machado and Eddie Bravo.

Chur. Wea u training bjj bro?
whereisthefruitbro Whanga-a- Reipae. Onerahi- rahi.
Great Stuff!
Thanks for watching.
great roll Jake!
Respect!! repping NZ my country. Amazing dude, hahaha 'frend'
Great job on the video!!
Thanks for the video!
Royler put on a real master-class there.. against a more than decent grappler in jake. Great to watch
tricepsish Watch Marcelo roll with Jake in his episode... I had no idea jake was even a grappler. No disrespect to Royler, but Marcelo is something else.
Yes he is..plus he’s still in his 30s.
Good scraps Jake!
nice to see you try a little lapel guard on royler bro lol
Budo jake do an episode with renzo !!!
That pass Royler does is so simple but hard to stop. He grabs the lapel and pant leg.
That Faria dude trained with Royler for 80 years. STRAIGHT dang
LMAO
Royler Grab the pants a lot.. never seen such a tight game from a 53 year old, gonna respect Royler he is one of the smallest gracies
Do a Rener episode!
It wouldn’t be complete unless Ryron is there too.
Man I miss this show smh
Do one with Alan "Finfou" Nascimento in sweden.
I'm at the Valente Brothers in Miami. They learned directly from Helio. We do loads of self defense. Royler comes to visit perhaps 1x a year.
Not enough rolling there at all not a fan good ppl though but Jorge Pireria is there to Rickson black belt self defense and rolling
12:03, arm lock causes flatus, was very effective
Yoopo, Budo Jake’s defense is official. Probably helps to roll with high level guys on a regular bases.
I wonder how is the neck of budo Jake after the neck cranck of 13:50...
Can anybody tell me the name of the song at 11:00...?
Royler had him in a couple tight neck compression chokes and released them , and kimura him
easy work, just let him off the hook being a good sport, i don't think this guy even realized it!!!
His Passing is so basic....All Pressure under the leg trap the leg grind through
10:00 breaking guard
Great video. I feel like Budo Jake let Royler win the position. Budo Jake did not LET Ralph Gracie dominate him.
Awesome episode, jiu jitsu lifestyle
Royler sure did get roled up by sakuraba
And you would get rolled up by royler
And yet, Royler is still a multiple time world champion.
Jake has envolved a lot! I was impressed Royler couldn't submit him!
Didn't he Kimura him?
Well, now I'm not so sure, but I thought he had defended and Royler had given up. I'll take another look.
you know royler was just rolling right ???

If y'all don't recognize royler is being polite...jeez....got a lot,to learn if u don't know that

The real jiu jitsu
just curious, but who gave budo jake his black belt?congrats on the promotion btw
Dash Cavalera Carlson Gracie, Jr. apparently, ie: 'Gracie Barra'.
Carlson Jnr, is from Carlson Snr school not Barra.
is it just me cause im sure royler tapped him with the kimura
peter rogers No you're right. He did tap, that's why their rolling stopped.
+peter rogers There was about 5 catch and release that I noticed.
Eddie bravo won!
if eddie gave this style problems...imagibe what dds would do to this guy

0:28 ... Brazil is in America... lol.. you should said, United States... all "Americans" ... lol
budo jake is a fruit but he did pretty well in that roll.
