Saulo is the best man. Everyone can show positions, he is one of the very few who can show concepts
Saulo saying "lay down" is the scariest version of that request I've ever heard
+Derrick Conover i actually listened to this video laying down.
haha ha!
I know man.. I felt it too. 😂😂😂😂
LMAO I thought the same thing
My gosh - he is SO GOOD at teaching. I would love to learn from him.
Saulo Riberio is a GRAND teacher!!! Top notch and first class in every aspect... Thanks for the uploads BudoVids!!!
I'm not even half way through this and already Saulo has imparted some absolute jewels of wisdom. I like how this is less about techniques and more about concepts. Really, really incredible stuff.
"How you defend the game is that you don't get into the game." -Saulo on Berimbolo-type guards. Around the 13min mark
This is pure gold.
That “walk” on the double under pass has made my pass so much better
Same! I saw this a few years ago and it changed that pass entirely for me
32:22 "It's not what you know, it's what you can apply" Saulo Ribeiro Zen master Oss!
17:59 "drilling without resistance and effort is meaningless!" Saulo Ribeiro. Oss!
Much respect to them on emphasizing the importance of training judo to improve on the standup game.
@9:18 Saulo REALLY liked that hip switch.
Timothy Ferrell Hahaha that scared me man.
This video is amazing, I can see a lot of hours being spent on this channel
Epic teachers. White belt here and all of the techniques in the first 15 minutes of this vid i was able to easily retain and call on rolling, particularly the warriors walk which immediately simplified that position for me. Beyond what i learn at my school the only online stuff i ever really try to implement in my game comes from the Ribeiro’s. Very practical concepts that work.
Saulo is very deep... words fro a Master !
Great find!!!! He’s breaking down this guys game to a tee. Just by rolling with him once. Insane
Poison + Personality + Style = Effectiveness
Love it.
Both Saulo's and Xande are coming to my academy in a few months... Can't wait!!!
THIS IS GOLD!!!!!!! This is the first video I watch on your channel. bout to be a bjj movie night my brotha
I learned so much from this episode. All the small details that Saulo showed Budo Jake have helped my game tremendously.
Part 1 was great! Can't wait to watch part 2. Thanks for putting this all together Jake
This is gold. Thank you, Budo Viseos!
Saulo has a book out called "Jiu-Jitsu University." My professor recommended that a practitioner of any level, white or black, should read it if they're looking into improving their game. I bought it and it's helped me out immensely.
Priceless episode!
Thank you!
he has a great approach towards life. his philosophy is on point and polishes the mindset to drive towards success. thank you for this video
What a class... thank you!
Wow! I have never learned so much from a rolled up episode ever. This is some really good stuff!
This video has just helped me greatly 😁
excellent series. thank you.
Great Channel. Congratulations from Brazil !!! Oss!!!
this is gold
This is so awesome.. Jake has the coolest life !
Awesome stuff guys!
Love his answer about what he's working on right now. Patience and kindness with white belt students.
Man o man the details...
Saulo just blew my mind. Only watched 10 minutes and he has shown two very easy and powerful escapes from the beginnings of bad positions. Good stuff. On top of that he seems like such a cool and intelligent guy.
Que grande la expliacion, queda clarisimo y da una banda de informacion de primera
just such great teachers
I have been doing Jits for 20 years all this stuff is pure gold!! wtf thumbs this down🤷🏻♂️
Yeah seriously
BudoVideos.com It seems like they have a lot of detail in their movement, minor details you don’t see in most schools, would you say they are the most technical in that aspect?
Well there are a lot of technical players and students but the Ribeiros are true students and masters of the game/art.
some brilliant stuff there
hey first one of these I see with you wearing a black belt. congrats!!!!!
amazing teacher
@11:10 I've been doing this for 10 years and I've never seen this detail. Wow.
Even though i have immense respect for my master here in Brazil, i admire Saulo so much, would love to be taught by him.
I need to visit San Diego :))
that guard recovery at 7 minutes on is gold! I've needed this.
Fooken awesome instruction.
Saulos way of escaping guys locking up legs could help Khabibs opponents immensely
Saulo makes you look like a white belt
When Saulo asked you to lock his legs together and he went to his knees. That blew my mind
fantastic! I'm a white belt, and love the fact that someone so accomplished is now thinking about how to make the noobs feel satisfaction.
Thanks jake
Saulo is the teacher you want. Both him and Xande are the best Jiu jitsu brothers ever.
Man this is so humbling martial art
"Let's study, now, the 'Hot Girl On The Block' that is the berimbolo in the game that came from the de la riva." BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I laughed SO hard when Saulo said that, I missed the next 40-something seconds of the clip.
lol Saulo's little girl in the background
Nice!
I bet most people who watch alot of these rolled up videos think they can tool Jake because you see him get tooled all the time but what people do not realize is that it is the best in the world doing it and Jake would probaly dominate the best guy at your school. Kinda cool knowing there is level upon levels of bjj.
Jake is a black belt in BJJ. He's no daisy.
Plus, everyone's game is different, so there is always going to be something that whomever he is training with that day is going to do differently. In friendly rolling, they are trying to see what he has and what he doesn't.
True, a lot of the time I wonder if Jake is embarrassed to even have a black belt when some of these masters are basically reducing him to white belt level, but it's all relative really. They say once you reach black belt, that's when the learning begins.....or some shit like that. Anyhow, without Budo Jake a lot of this knowledge would go unlearned by many.
Lay down, lay down, lay down, love Ribeiro brothers, Kano and Maeda on the walls, they practice and respect judo, as a practitioner of both jj and judo love the way they teach
Awesome
Paulo Barroso is a sixth degree black belt formed by Master Rickson Gracie. He’s the first world champion in the lightweight category (1996). He is part of an excellent generation of warriors (Marcelo Behring, Royler Gracie, Fabio Gurgel, Amaury Bitetti, Murilo Bustamante, Ricardo Libório ...). He continues to study the art of Jiu Jitsu applying the concepts of physics (lever, speed and weight). He trains hard all week. And he has the humility to share his knowledge and teach to a select group of students in Rio de Janeiro. He continues with sharp and intelligent Invisible Jiu Jitsu. OSS
If i could learn bjj from anyone in the world if would be the ribero brothers. I love they teach concepts and there such good guys
He makes so much sense. As a white new to this sport he inspires me a lot.
I wonder how these old school guys would do against the Berimbolo generation if they had the same age and athleticism. They are awesome.
just watch kron Gracie his style of jiu-jitsu is old school.
Look at that! Budo Jake got his black belt!
It's already been 2 years but thanks! Some of these are filmed a while before they're released.
Saulo Ribeio The Sensei of BJJ
Bong bung!!!
I had the pleasure of rolling with a saulo/Xande black belt travelling to our school. My god the pressure. I felt like I was rolling with what Id imagine Rickson or Roger G. to feel like. It was just crushing fundamentals leading to cross collar chokes and armbar variations over and over and over. Felt helpless.
gold mine
got him in the banana-split, but was cut out out of respect
Fuck man Ribero is a fucking wizard
I notice there's not a lot of grip fighting in the intro roll. Did that just get cut?
Invisible jiu-jitsu
Go Manaus Amazon Brazil 🇧🇷
Best Jiu-jitsu!🤜🏼🤛🏼
get it right
Very first episode.
His teaching method resembles Rikson Gracie's.
peguei!!!!!
this show going to make a return?
Did Jake switch organizations or leave Gracie Barra?
Does anyone know the difference between this style of juijitsu and Gracie
Johnny humes essentially the same thing but the gracie academy has more of a bias towards self defense where as the Ribeiro brothers are a bit more sport oriented as well as a traditional budo influence.
None
Royler is Saulo's teacher.
2:16,3:19
Saulo is a God
Jake how long did it take you to get your black belt?
About 10 years
Budo Jake
Would you mind specifying ?
How many hours a week would U say u spent on the mat ?
I do my best to get about 7 a week along with crossfitting in the morning to build my body ...
jonathan quintero On average I've spent about 6-10 hours a week on the mats over the past 13 years or so. If you're getting 7 hours a week that's great. That's more than most, although much less than full time students who are spending 7 hours a DAY training. These are the guys that will be world champs. It's very hard to compete with that if you have a day job!
man... I feel so dumb now! the de la riva- berimbolo part... Arms first instead of the leg. So easy yet I found myself over and over in that situation trying to shut de la riva guard down... dummy just dont put your fucking leg there in the first place!!!
Something I noticed at 11:50 mark where Saulo teaches Jake how to escape when smb is holding both your legs and I am wondering about the effectiveness of it. I come from a wrestling background and when I catch smb's legs like that when they decide to turn to their knees or tripod I catch their backs. Also, I am new to jiu-jitsu but the way Saulo and Jake were holding the legs wasn't good technique. You have to connect elbow to elbow and head up looking to grab the waist from the left or the right side and if he turns around you have his back. Thanks for the video. I read Saulo's University of Jiu-Jitsu every day and his tips for you were great.
Is Saulo better than Xandi
