    Epic teachers. White belt here and all of the techniques in the first 15 minutes of this vid i was able to easily retain and call on rolling, particularly the warriors walk which immediately simplified that position for me. Beyond what i learn at my school the only online stuff i ever really try to implement in my game comes from the Ribeiro’s. Very practical concepts that work.

    I bet most people who watch alot of these rolled up videos think they can tool Jake because you see him get tooled all the time but what people do not realize is that it is the best in the world doing it and Jake would probaly dominate the best guy at your school. Kinda cool knowing there is level upon levels of bjj.

      Plus, everyone's game is different, so there is always going to be something that whomever he is training with that day is going to do differently. In friendly rolling, they are trying to see what he has and what he doesn't.

    • @joeyservo
      @joeyservo 5 років тому

      True, a lot of the time I wonder if Jake is embarrassed to even have a black belt when some of these masters are basically reducing him to white belt level, but it's all relative really. They say once you reach black belt, that's when the learning begins.....or some shit like that. Anyhow, without Budo Jake a lot of this knowledge would go unlearned by many.

    Paulo Barroso is a sixth degree black belt formed by Master Rickson Gracie. He’s the first world champion in the lightweight category (1996). He is part of an excellent generation of warriors (Marcelo Behring, Royler Gracie, Fabio Gurgel, Amaury Bitetti, Murilo Bustamante, Ricardo Libório ...). He continues to study the art of Jiu Jitsu applying the concepts of physics (lever, speed and weight). He trains hard all week. And he has the humility to share his knowledge and teach to a select group of students in Rio de Janeiro. He continues with sharp and intelligent Invisible Jiu Jitsu. OSS

    I had the pleasure of rolling with a saulo/Xande black belt travelling to our school. My god the pressure. I felt like I was rolling with what Id imagine Rickson or Roger G. to feel like. It was just crushing fundamentals leading to cross collar chokes and armbar variations over and over and over. Felt helpless.

      jonathan quintero On average I've spent about 6-10 hours a week on the mats over the past 13 years or so. If you're getting 7 hours a week that's great. That's more than most, although much less than full time students who are spending 7 hours a DAY training. These are the guys that will be world champs. It's very hard to compete with that if you have a day job!

    Something I noticed at 11:50 mark where Saulo teaches Jake how to escape when smb is holding both your legs and I am wondering about the effectiveness of it. I come from a wrestling background and when I catch smb's legs like that when they decide to turn to their knees or tripod I catch their backs. Also, I am new to jiu-jitsu but the way Saulo and Jake were holding the legs wasn't good technique. You have to connect elbow to elbow and head up looking to grab the waist from the left or the right side and if he turns around you have his back. Thanks for the video. I read Saulo's University of Jiu-Jitsu every day and his tips for you were great.
