We started banding in the 1950's in the southern high plains...by accident. We would broadcast S and P as 11-52 and K-mag on level fields then listed in beds for furrow irrigation. We planted grain sorghum double row 13" on top of the 40" beds. In 1969 I used 10-34-0 in March banded with ammonia under where we planted 18" April corn rows on the 40" bed. I gave that placement up when there was no real weighed yield advantage of the strips. Our corn then made just under 200 bu/ac. Our ph was 7.6 potassium at 800 ppm
Why dont you inject the liquid into the soil while strip tilling?? Or use a liquid side dressing machine to inject the liquid into the soil below where you will plant? Not sure I get why you would just band on the surface? For logistical efficiencies only?
