Looks like this game would really benefit from a GMod style physgun
There is something in it called a NodeGrabber. You can grab selected points on vehicles and yank them about.

@@bombwolf8919 The nodegrabber isn't strong enough to lift trains. To use it, simply hold control and use the mouse to move the node.
well I still struggle with the physgun while placing trains lol
It's crazy. I expected the train to automatically spawn on the tracks once the camera is nearby. Hopefully, it will be fixed in the future. Thanks for the video!

@@acetvgamingyt4166 still isn't like this and thats simply because most of the maps with working train tracks aren't made by the Devs who made beam. Same thing with the train.

Sorry for the late response... I know it can be a real pain. I'm thinking of doing another video showing how I do it on different maps.
Best thing to do is start with a straight piece of track (don't place it on curves/hills). In World Editor (F11), set the first two rotation values to 0 & 0 which will make the train even & flat. Then try and get the "left/right" rotation right. If you need to make minor adjustments, you can make small adjustments to the # in the 3rd rotation field. Then, finally, move the train left/right & up/down to get the wheels aligned with the tracks.
Going into freecam (Shift+C) and placing the camera underneath the train will help you see how close you are too. Hope this helps!!

Three years late, yadda yadda, but a note when checking the rotation value of the track:
If you're trying to land on a curved track... just don't you can't
Pick the nearest straight track, align it, then you'll have to back the train to where on the curved track you want it to spawn and save the home position another way. I do not think there is a way to make the bogies align automatically with the track.

Edit: I fixed it. i just needed to do something with manual gearbox

Lol. I can't get it to move but I haven't given up. I've decided to try to figure out how to skin it. That is going about as well as trying to get it to move. ha,ha,ha,ha!! *Great tutorial, BNGF!! User error here for sure. :)
Can we get steam locomotives?
I use the same train mod and when I press the the gas, it just revs up but doesn't move at all. This is about the train, not the map or the instructions.
Go in to manul(Q on the keybord) and go into M1 then press G and T to Accelerate.

@Ultra ok first download the zip then after its find the zip file in your downloads folder next open the beamng.drive folder in your documents if you cant find it search beamng on the search bar next double click it go to moved here with the arrow thing go to mods and then click repo
I have a question. Is this possible to save the map? so we don't have to keep positioning the train again and again?
When I load the map it's just not loading but the car flies somewhere and crashes!
Which map is this happening on?
If it's happening on an official map, two things to try....
1. Start the game in Safe Mode (Launch BeamNG > Support Tools > Safe Mode). If it works here, then it's a mod causing the issue.
2. If it happens in Safe mode, launch the game and select Support Tools > Verify Integrity which will repair any broken game files.

So I’ve tried spawning in the train a bunch of times but I can’t make the train go no matter what I do. Idk if it’s just something I’m doing wrong or if I need to reload the mods. I need some help.
Check your key bindings in settings. There might be something not bind correctly that needs to be added to make it work. By default, I believe the 'T' key is the throttle. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

How do I add the map to the beamng game? I've downloaded it but I don't know how to get it to be on maps.

I have been making BeamNG.drive videos for my son for a year now, but I have not touched any trains.
I would like to, however, and my son likes them.
But to get to train to align with the tracks is a *nightmare*. Once you get one end to align, the other end is not.
Is there a spot in like Tennessee map (or any other map with tracks) where you just put rotation and everything to zero and it will align at once, once you drop it down?

Try getting the camera really close to the axis u are rotating it should help with the smaller movements

I installed the boxcar too but it doesn't have the thing that makes it on the track or whatever its called

How do you connect the boxcar to the train, all it does is just slide through the coupler when I press L
There's a couple of things you can try... first, you may need to change the order that you're attaching them. For example instead of pressing L on the boxcar, try pressing L on the train. If that doesn't work, you can switch the 'type' of coupler being used by pressing Ctrl+W and in the parts menu switching from 'Coupler A' to 'Coupler B' or vice versa depending what you have. Usually, by default, with everything facing forward, you can attach everything from back to front. Start with the second last boxcar, attach it to the last one and then start working your way towards the front of the train attaching everything up. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Im having issues that the train wont drive, even though all the wheels are properly aligned.
Try pressing 'T' first before accelerating it. You can also check the 'vehicle specific controls' to see what you have mapped to the throttle in settings. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

@@enaqleelectric oh yeah also says that you need to press spacebar or p if your parking brakes are on and press press down arrow to disable the independent brakes i think or a dofferent type of brake
