  • Should you buy Wacom's beginner graphics tablet? In this video, I review the One by Wacom. I talk about basic information like the price, factors that affect the drawing experience (eg. pen pressure and tilt sensitivity), portability, and my experience using the One by Wacom for professional work.

I have the medium one since 2016 and it still works like new, it even fell into filthy flood water when my house got flooded back in 2019. So I can assure anyone that this thing is a beast when it comes to durability.
The pen also fell a number of times and it's still fine as a kite.
However I actually just bought an XP-Pen Artist 16 Pro because I've always wanted to draw directly onto the screen, but my trusty One will always be there if I need it, that's for sure.

Thanks for this. Great delivery on the information my dude. I've been using a bamboo off and on for the past 10 years or so depending on the work I've done ( I used to do a lot of zbrush work but not so much in the past few years). Well the other day I pulled it off the shelf for some sculpting work I needed to do and found out it's no longer supported, and there was a ton of lag on the input. I'm not new to using a pen tablet, but I certainly don't need a screen to work off of. After your review I think this will do me just fine. Thanks!

It's great that you leave the link to the Wacom utilities since Wacom doesn't provide the links with the product and, in fact, provides no URLs for utilities, software, or even the required driver, in the tiny (mostly worthless) instruction card in the box. The only instructions in the box tell you how to hook up the USB cable, as if that wasn't self-evident to anyone who has a mobile phone or any USB device at all on their PC. Experienced PC users will be able to search for and install the required drivers and find software to enable them to use the pen (Wacom provides no drivers, utilities, or software with the tablet) but anyone without hardware and driver experience is going to have a hard time starting with the One by Wacom.
And what's with the name, One by Wacom, which is a completely different, very low end, product from the Wacom One tablet, which is a drawing tablet with screen and much more high end. The only difference in the name is whether, when using the full name, the word One comes before the word Wacom or if the word One comes after the word Wacom. Before Wacom: budget tablet shown in your video. After Wacom: high-end tablet. Those two names are almost identical which could cause a lot of confusion for anyone, experienced or not, looking for Wacom tablets.

Does the One have a noticeable delay? I've been drawing with an outdated wacom bamboo for over ten years now, and it's finally started to stop working correctly after all this time. I'm used to drawing without pressure sensitivity altogether, what I'm most concerned with is the delay. I have a screen tablet that's technically far more advanced and professional than my shity little wacom bamboo, but I can't use it because the delay is so extreme, whereas my bamboo has no delay whatsoever. Unfortunately they don't actually make this tablet anymore, so I'm forced to look for a replacement that's similar.

And the biggest problem with the One by Wacom, and I have no reason to think it would be any different for any other Wacom product but who knows, is that the documentation is worthless. No documentation at all, beyond hooking up a USB cable, in the package, and online documentation is virtually worthless.

Maybe no one will answer this but say you draw a circle on the right side of the tablet then you forgot we’re you drew the circle and draw it further away from where you drew it how can you keep ur drawing in the same place without a screen tablet

lower pen pressure sensitivity is not the issue with this tablet. my old tablet had much fever levels (~500) but it was way easier to draw fine, smooth, detailed lines with great tapering of. the newer wacom pens are poorer quality and don't detect low pressure well, apparently the wacom one pens have the same issue. I'd stick to my old tablet but apparently it's impossible to get a working replacement pen, so have to get use to the poor quality new ones.

plenty of time to go gangbusters with a top end tablet when you have some experience and know you're going to get good use out of it
