I decided to convert to Judaism, my beliefs are fairly orthodox. My parents are not jewish but support my journey. Can Orthodox Jews coexist with nonreligious family members? I’ve heard rumors that people converting had to give up their gentile families. I didn’t really believe it but I wanted an opinion personally from someone.

There is no law that says you have to give up your family. Just not everyone is good at balancing a situation like this.
