Proud of our Republic of Singapore Navy! BIG thank you to all the men and women serving tirelessly daily to protect and keep all Singaporeans safe from threats.
Imagine the same midshipsmen who first penned the Navy Song watching this today ... if it were me, witnessing everything of the Navy that grew since then will be too much for me to hold back any tears of joy. Cheers to everyone who played a part in defending our seas - Majulah Singapura.
Layman's critique: - The way it was sung was sleepy, monotone, uninspiring, with a lot of generic lyrics and messages which you could associate with most NDP songs. Not something memorable unless you listened to it 100 times in one sitting alone. If you cannot imagine the song sung and performed in a philharmonic orchestra at marching pace, rethink perhaps. - Lack of imaginative aspirations or lyrics. Some of the lyrics make it look like a song for kids. Use/reference Singaporean mythology perhaps, and emphasise more on the nature or aspirations of the Navy. - Lacking in "punch". Doesn't seem like something one would march to, not exciting, and sounded close to some song you'd sing at a local karaoke. - Melody was passable, but could just barely hear the naval-like melody. And to be fair, I only compared this to neighbouring naval songs like Indonesia, Korea and ROC.
@@Tringapore-Singapore idk I think I was hoping the channel would reply:( good song tho need more USA flags in there tho cuz y’all’s navy ain’t cuttin it without us
It's a bit insipid, isn't it? It's like the bare minimum requirements to be considered a song, there's no oomph to it. Even "training to be soldiers" has a miniscule amount of gusto to it
It honestly is, yeah. There was often a lack of energy whenever it was sung during parades. But I imagine it might be designed to be similar to the national anthem, now that I think about it.

Я да сказал но потом влезли эти люди
In the 80s we used to sing “We are the ones, the sons of the sea.. mighty men of the Singapore Navy..” guess we need to be inclusive now eh..
Yes, our female sailors have contributed a lot to the Navy. The least we can do is to include them in the Navy song.
Four women sailors made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty in a single night

Cos army and navy different.
@@Jack-hy2ki that’s hardly an excuse to be honest
It's become very woke recently from when I was in the Navy... wokeism has taken hold in SAF too.
