  • Our last major adventure on our Honeymoon road trip lead us to Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument in New Mexico. This place was absolutely beautiful! It's a wonderful area to hike with awesome scenic views of the rocks and canyon. We did not get to finish the complete trail but I'd highly recommend doing it if you can. We'd love to go back and try it again since Abby had a bum leg that day. One of New Mexico's hidden gems!!

    I like seeing all these places in the comfort of my chair. I don't go anywhere anymore. to old and on my own. Thanks for sharing. Three suggestions. Gettysburg, Pikes Peak and Royal Gorge. You'll love them. I did many years ago.

    What a beautiful setting. Thanks for sharing. It’s pretty rare that I come across videos on line that do justice to the display capabilities of my iPad. This brings back memories of my travels in the Western Sahara (long, long time ago). The desert has its own kind of beauty.

    • @musicbro8225

      You're right, the desert is unique in it's beauty. Some of what I have seen (of the Sahara) was the most beautiful, but it's not fair to say that right, cause it is so different. Part of it's beauty is the way it made me feel being so remote and vast, a really personal and intimate feeling. It changed me. Maybe like going to space or something :)

    So glad you guys took the slot canyon route after all. First time I went I didn't. Years later I did and WOW. I made it all the way up to the mesa. Stunning 360° view. Highly recommend that hike to everyone.

      @@AbomAdventures if you get the chance, Chaco Canyon is a STUNNING step back in time. The ruins there are amazing and unlike Mesa Verde you get to walk among them. The hike up the crack in the wall is still one of my favorites. Also Sky City/Acoma Pueblo is a great hike as is El Morro near Grants NM. I still have yet to explore southern NM, like the Mogollon Rim or The Catwalk. On my list for this year. NM is such a great place for outdoor adventure and history.

    You need to come to West Virginia. Check out Cass Scenic Railroad. They have a shop tour where they maintain and rebuild the Shay's. There is a lot of places to see in this country. I have coworkers that don't want to go more than 50 miles from home. I don't understand that. The southwest is on of the areas I've not been to.

    "Lets go just a little ways into the slot canyon"...LOL...famous last words. GREAT JOB TO BOTH OF YOU! if you ever get to Hawaii, I highly recommend doing the Road to Hanna. WICKED drive (600+ curves, and a few dozen one lane bridges). There are some INCREDIBLE hikes on the way to Hanna, and you must start early (it can take 3 to 4 hours to drive the road and make some stops). One hike I did took over 2 hours round trip, but it was supposedly only about 1 mile...uh-huh...lol.

      @WreckDiver99 5 років тому

      @@wildtimbrown yea, yea, yea...whatever. LOL...nothing there to see except for a store to get some drinks and food at to turn around and go back. I did the entire return trip in the dark. NOT a fun ride. My wife watched for headlights way up as I watched the road close since so many turns existed without any guard rails...LOL...I actually got car sick...and I was the driver...because I couldn't see far enough ahead...LOL

    Slot canyons such as that one are no place to be when it rains hard. Flash floods can occur very fast; the water washes down the rock faces and accumulates going down the narrows that form the slots. It would be interesting to see but I would not want to be in the canyon bottom when the water rushes thru there. Those rocks in the path have eroded out and rolled down from above then are rolling along the canyon floor being pushed by the water. There is sand and small stones on the upstream side of the bigger rocks that have accumulated by the water slowing down when it hits those big rocks. Those formations are all sandstone formed by water erosion.
