  • Join us as we hop on the motorcycles and ride through the beautiful Land of Enchantment on our way to Bandelier National Monument. Though we had to leave the motorcycles at Juniper Campground and hike the rest of the way to the ruins, it was definitely worth it!
There are some places that stand above the rest. They have this special magnetic pull that keeps you coming back again and again. Bandelier National Monument is one of those unexpected delights, containing some of the most unusual and fascinating ancient ruins and cliff dwellings in the Southwest.

while you are in that area check out the Valles Caldera. Its only a few miles to the west. If you ever watched the Longmire series, this is where Walt's cabin is located.

Chris reminds me alot of my ex-wife (divorced), deceased from cancer. I wish I had taken her on motorcycle adventures back then. We had a few camping trips that were great - Enchanted Rock with kids, Big Bend, with a dog, etc. You are a link for me Chris.

My late wife and I visited Bandolier years ago. Little lizards running around all over the place. The cliff dwellings were carved out of the soft rock. Some had smoke outlets, and some didn’t. I guess some were chokers and coughers, aih? The West is a very interesting area to tour.

Rich, I know your pains with knee issues and weight. 28 years in the Army and both of my knees have been damaged and back as well. But like you, I try to keep keeping on. Starting this spring my son and I will be doing motorcycle camping and traveling. Maybe we will see you guys on the trail.
    Stay safe. Dave G.

The round hole is the bae of a kiva. It had a roof over it, ventilation coming in low, and a smoke hole out of the center of the roof.

On the pueblos, I’ve wondered why they left the butts of the logs sticking out a few feet? It appears to me, that they were supporting something sometimes. Not permanently, or it would still be there. Something was being hung from them, or maybe laying across them? Finding a log that was that long and that straight in that country had to require a LOT os searching.
