I’m honestly really annoyed they did that to the Warhammer. It was so cool and powerful and the literal only reason they did it was because Eren just had to be stronger for some reason. But yah I really wish they kept the Warhammer, it wouldn’t have changed to much imo, but besides that little nitpick( which stems from the Warhammer being my favorite Titan) Mappa did an almost perfect job

Eren's attack on Liberio can be considered as "unnecessary", but he still did it anyway, Willy already declaring war on the island, so why not doing some preemptive strike ayy? it's same as what those Marleyans did when they decided to sent me n others to the island, wreaking some havoc while searching for Founding Titan power, this act can be considered as preemptive strike too. there's no higher moral ground when it comes to genocide, whether it's Eren or us, the outcome still same - countless innocent life loss.

It's not that it's bad. It's great, but it can be so much better. Imo the levi vs beast titan ost fits better for a scene where one is winning against the other in a fight. It should be something that's sounds terrfying for me, like youseebiggirl (overused I know, but i think will fit better), aot s1 ost, or the aot s4 trailer (which is a part of it is in the video).
Ps why would they name the song "declaration of war"?
I never thought that ysbg or this song would be good for the declaration neither did I think it would be played. Reading the manga blind I had absolutely no clue what Eren was going to do, so putting an epic song would just ruin the buildup. Ended up being played on episode 6, which like I said is a much better fit imo.

Hmm, that's one way to look at it, but if Eren really wanted to save 'his world' like he said he would, He should have gone with the rumbling 100%. No half measures. In theory that would mean killing all the scouts and warriors, and no, Isayama can't do that (I didn't want him to do it either). So he had to add the "destiny" card, Eren didn't quite know why he did what he did, and is basically following an instructuon manual. U see, I get Ereb had to die, but atleast yams could make the whole climax actually feel like a climax. I know he has that ability. But I just didnt feel it this time. The fight, both physical and idealogical were rushed and shallow, and there are Retcons like "Eren orders Dina". Sigh... I get our takes on the ending are subjective and thus different, but no matter how I try to make sense out of it, this retcon, and this ending still sucks for me. Sorry.

@@whydoiexist2180 Destiny card is usually used when the writer is lazy or the writing isn't strong enough. I know Chapter 120-122 are the most famous chapters of the series and I love them, but you know AOT could have worked just as great without "time travel" and "destiny".
I guess this whole ending was a gentle reminder that no matter how awesome AOT became, its still a shounen, and that's fine.

Just a great reminder : The Tyburs were the liberators of Marley and they were the ones who able to fought and captured the other 7 Titans. From Marley's POV, they are the heroes and deserve noble titles

@@DrakeRing Well, the point of AoT is to care about everyone. The Marleyans are absolutely shitty people but they're still people, so I try to see the point of view of everyone in AoT.
I think Willy said that the tyburs was the fritz collaborators to stop the great Titans war. So I guess the other 7 houses who possess Titan power were trying eliminate each other that cost the old empire. So it was kinda GoT dynamic among 9 Titan houses. And something interesting that the prequel itself which told about the twist and turn among 9 Titans houses could be epic as GoT ( at least as good as first 5 seasons)
If tyburs were really governing marley, than they were all piece of shit. For creating that shit tyranical empire and for treating eldians like jews in hitler's germany. He could have told them fritz's story from the start and there would not be any god damn war about it.

it fits so freaking perfectly to the warhammer titan vibe. it's sounds royal like the tyburs and sounds menacing and ominous like the warhammer titan.

it has a big climax for a reason, a climax to a declaration of war, it doesnt really fit for a titan, there is no climax, no peak, this song has a monumental peak which would've been perfect for the declaration of war.
One thing I love about this OST is how dramatic and urgent it feels, almost like Magath said, he EXPECTED an attack from Eren and devils of Paradis. So if he expected it there’s no doubt that Lara Tybur, the Warhammer, also expected her home to be infiltrated and her brother to be eaten like some pawn. And it's not even like Eren is fighting out of hatred anymore, when have you ever seen him so quick to decide that he's going to eat his enemies? He's had a change of heart and he's on a mission, something this OST describes beautifully in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong I'm on his side, Liberio had just basically signed a peace agreement with the whole world (technically except the Azumambito) and wanted to wipe out the Paradis Eldians, so in the bigger picture Eren had the right to strike first, but he still went for the Civilians before he got to the Generals.

When Magath said "Eren Jaeger" to the troops while this song was playing I felt chills from neck to toe his name carries so much weight now that when someone says "Eren Jaeger" it'll be branded as a forbidden name and no one should utter it ever again.

this is my favorite S4 op but the fact this wasn't used during the declaration is criminal. Especially with how they spammed it in the other episodes, its clear it wasn't meant to be just the Warhammer theme. I just to this day can never get how they flopped that scene

This song perfectly captures Eren and his change of heart ever since he kissed Historia's hand. He knows his duty, and that it won't end well and he may be considered a monster but, the world rests upon his shoulders.

I'm seeing lots of unhappy comments regarding the choice of music for S4 Episode 5 ending scene, but let's NOT hate on the Director, Mappa, or the crew.
They worked really hard to give us an incredible episode and I'm sure the upcoming episodes will be even more EPIC!!!
I think most of us were expecting YOUSEEBIGGIRL or Season 4 Theme(Reiner Transformation Theme) during Eren's transformation.
BUT I personally think 2volt (Two - Lives) was a suitable choice in the episode because it didn't overpower Tybur's Declaration of War speech since that was the main point of the episode.
What are your thoughts?!
EDIT: So apparently the director for episode 5 was harassed on social media for using 2volt instead of a different OST. We can have our own opinions, and like or dislike the choice of music BUT please DO NOT attack the director! You have no idea how awful it feels to put so much work into a project and then have "fans" attack you for a 15 second scene..
Yes they might have put some thought into it before choosing the ost. The epic ones will be for later episodes i guess like the next episode. And yes the speech was the main point after all.
YOUSEEBIGGIRL didn't really fit that scene anyways tbh
Using YSBG for that scene would have undermined the point to the buildup: its unpredictability. Until that point, viewers have no idea what Eren is planning to do and what lines he's willing to cross. Using YSBG then, as you said, would have really messed with the previous track in Willy's speech. More importantly it would have been a dead giveaway that Eren was transforming, since it's a track we've associated with grand transformations before (e.g. Eren in the forest against Annie, Reiner and Bertholt's reveal).

I like how all the other Marleyan Titans have an industrial sounding, kind of synthy, theme to match their militaristic role and further more their role as science experiments for Marley’s scientists. However the War Hammer Titan has a more classical and traditional theme reflecting its role as an aristocratic symbol

I’d say it’s because it’s seen as a parallel to what Reiner and Bertholdt did to Eren in Season 2 even though there is no reveal. There’s still the Titan Popping up and destroying a native town. Also because out of most of original OST Youseebiggirl fits pretty well since it’s sad, dramatic and emotional. I think this fits better though after relistening way too many times.

@near It is not, it's just a downgrade. The episode is still epic and insane. But 3D Titans being disturbing, we just can't stop to think what it would have looked with wit studio. The episode is not far from being perfect actually, and some cgi plan (I think of 2 or 3) were even better than 2D animation of the previous seasons.
