I drift a completely stock 350z base model with the VQ35 HR engine. Everything on the car stock & not modified. It was the worst car I have ever drifted...
Here in Florida there is a ton of people who drift the Z. The formula is simple:
Disable traction control (completely)
Weld the diff
Install coilovers
These cars are a ton of fun after you get these 3 things done. Its a really awesome budget seat time car for anyone, stock power is perfect for learning and even more advanced driving. If you can afford a little extra a good seat, steering wheel and angle kit can help.
I would add an oil cooler to that list, and then she'll be bulletproof
@@offgridas It’s also worth checking oil pressure on these. I have done like 5 oil gallery gaskets on these. After that these are REALLY solid.
@@240Trevor now I need to go and do this on my car lol, paranoid now. Mine idles at about 2 when warm, builds quick when I apply throttle, up to about 6
@@offgridas Carful man, could cost you an engine. It’s a big job but it’s the most important thing to get done on these engines for reliability. Thanks for the sub btw! I upload weekly!
If you have any questions about the gallery gaskets or other technical questions you can message me insta.
do you think the e46 is done the same way?
from all the dudes who drift 350z.... just a re-gear, weld it, angle kit and youre pretty good to go. add dual pass rad, oil cooler, ps cooler and youre good to go. i just have a 13
I like how you just said 13, I call mine the 14 lol
I used to slide my G35 with just hitting the VDC off button and clutch kicking and it worked fine.
Don't forget cut the TCS cables in centre console
Don't forget cut the TCS cables in centre console
You can always just shim the diff also if it's an lsd. I've seen it both ways.
Your Z is a base edition with no LSD and yes the ebrake is in the same spot in all models
Yes just like he says, I have a 2008 350z but mines has the lsd cause it’s the enthusiast model
Japanese base model does have an LSD. Learn the jdm facts.
@@hk20000 base models Z no NOT have vlsd from my current understanding.
@@zenkiethan only in states, US got poor versions with open diff and breaks from altima. In eu only automatics got open diff and all Zs got same brembos that are on r34
@@Gizawar we 100% have non lsd and non brembo 350z in the uk
You drove into that wall. Not a tap lol.
There's two ways to do it Sam: Either snip the pink wire (which I haven't done, but that's what I see being mentioned a lot) or in my experience, unplug one of the ABS wheel sensors. The sensor being broken completely disabled my abs/vdc/attesa during that time.
Pin 69 is for HR?
@Eilidh Mckeeney bro what the fuck
Just remove the abs fuse?
@@Snoopmikedid you find out if it was for the hr?
@@Z06Yahir Nope. Ended up having to tune it out at my local tune shop here in SoCal @specialtyZ
Take the brake light fuse out, 4th one from the left, takes your brake lights away, yaw sensor under centre console is only one thing you need to do, or you can cut either the pink or purple wire going to and or from ecu. I've only done the fuse with mine, but it lets me left foot brake without pulling power.
Trippy that yours one wheels, pretty sure mine has an open diff, and it's auto and it's de, but mine never one wheels ever, hooks second hard.
Sammit read this comment!
A tap is a kiss bro that made out with the wall
Ok Sam a few things to mention No.1 you have a base model with an open diff or a very warn Vlsd (you can shim a vlsd to tighten it up for drifting see Luke's channel) No.2 get a second fuse and cut the abs links in one so you can use it when drifting. No.3 cut the 69 pin wire from the ecu (blue with pink line) and this will negate the power cut function (burnouts etc, easy and brake lights still function) This will mean when you hit the TC button everything is off but you can swap the fuse and turn traction control back on for the drive home. No.4 The handbrake will not function for long! You need a hydro. (The Z runs an internal drum on the rear discs for the handbrake it has a small diameter and was only designed to hold the car in place when parked) if you use the handbrake a lot drifting it heats up very quick and not only stops working but can also induce cracking in the rear drum and rotor. No. 5 you should unplug the battery and then disconnect the airbag module for obvious reasons. (While you have changed the steering wheel there are 5 more airbags in that car.
P.S. A quick hack for track testing stock is just to take a 10mm and pull out the 2 speed sensors (one on each side of the diff) this shuts off everything but you also have no speedo which is all good at the track. (there is no quick fix for a base model with an open diff.
Youre definately right about the handbrake thing. My handbrake was so damn worn, when i went to replace my rotors, as soon as i took the rotor off the handbrake stuff just straight fell off into a million pieces. Aint got a handbrake anymore now, i just keep it in first when i park lol.
Do the 06 touring models have an lsd ? I can't seem to find a clear answer anywhere
@@mr.monkeyman8711 Yes the Touring has the Viscous lsd
Everyone: stays at home and relaxes while it's raining
Meanwhile Sammit: at the drift track burning some wheels
well when your job is to get content
I love how drifters run into stuff and say "I meant to do that ."
Adrenaline=FUCK YAAAA
This channel needs more views. Such awesome content, especially for people who like learning about cars
couldnt agree more!
SLAPtrain would define that:
"JUST A TAP!"
Top effort Sam
Just a light buff out, needed!
In case you were wondering base models don't have a yaw sensor traction control works off the speed sensors rear wheels only and the abs has 4 outboard sensors tucked in behind each brake hence clipping the abs fuses and pulling out the speed sensors everything off but you still need to cut the wire to the ecu to remove the throttle cut otherwise every time you touch the brake it will cut throttle % if you unplug the brake switch it will bypass the function for a while but after the ecu doesn't register the function for a certain amount of time it will throw itself into limp mode until you reconnect the switch. (To much time turning 350's into drift cars :-D ) After playing around give Greg and the boys at GK Tech a call and get all the parts to make it into a serious (even if a little slow) drift car!!!
Hey Steve I got some questions. I’m trying to get my 05 base trim 350z sideways. I’m seeing snip the abs fuse and the 69 pin wire from the ecu. Do you have to pull the speed sensors from the rear wheels as well? Or is there anything else I’m missing? If you could please get back to me I’m really struggling to find info anywhere
@@shredy7885 No need to remove speed sensors once two smaller fuses out of the large pink triple fuse is cut and fuse is put back in then the wire to pin 69 on ecu is also cut you should be able to do burnouts with your foot lightly on the brake and the traction control and abs as well as ignition cut will all be off. the only thing then to get it to drift is weld the diff or get a LSD almost impossible to drift with an open diff
Luke fink is the man when it comes to 350's
0:29 SAM HAS MADE AN ADVANCEMENT:JUST A SMOOCH FOR MINAMI, I GUESS...
(Wall tap for the first time in Minami)
Yes. Our LHD Z's do have the same center console as the RHD Z's. So the handbrake is at the same point.
Drifted my G as auto with an open for 5 years before I did the swap. The cars handle themselves for the most part! The easier way to turn traction control off on a G/Z is to remove the power cable to the abs module.
Anyone else: A Crash
SAMMIT: A Wall-Tap
Yeah you can only crumple and pull that metal out so many times before its time to cut away
the Hand break stays in the same place for the American Zs.. when the car is a left hand drive.. all you have to do is google images of a left hand drive Z other then that the interior parity much the same
I own a z myself but never slid it in stock form so I’m happy to see what it would have been like 👍
I learned to drift with a 100% stock, automatic g35. Only things I’ve done to it since learning now is coilovers, plenum spacer and exhaust. Only thing I really want to Do now is get a 350z diff and weld it and get an angle kit. I’m only 1200 into the car so if I hit a wall , fix it and keep ripping!
its automatic lol
@@Dragon1010200 and I have less than 1700 into it and I can drift better than half the people at the track lmao auto or not for the price, you can’t beat the fun
@@codyjohnson2991 lol sure thing. U have way less control in auto its better to get a manual and use money on that so you dont regret it
Robbie Nishida drifts an auto too and he's a beast. Good on you. Ignore the haters and have fun.
I can weld the diff on my auto Z?
Yeah the fuse doesn't always work. Collette had that issue. I would hit up Adam or Luke ^^
That dude actually asked if he could drift your chaser lmaoooo
Can u do some more mods on 350
I love waiting for the new videos to come out every day
Did u make a video on how to make a board to turn on and off the traction control all the way off
I do believe to disable the vdc you just need to pull the tail lamp fuse. I think that works in the 350 370 g35 and g37.
Base model 350z's don't come stock with LSD's. There are various things you can do to fully disable TCS/VDC/ABS you just have to be willing to make the change.
A lot of ebrake action. Anytime you feel like pulling the hydro give it a clutch kick instead. Multiple hand pulls in random spots. Almost like a habit then anything else.
That was a full into-the-wall Adam LZ tap.
The E-brake placement made me realize something. I have an 04 Subaru Impreza that was made in Japan and I always wondered why the hell it was way over to the other side, even if it only a four or five inch difference. The Z's must have the Merican setup for some specific reason hmmmm.
Is it just me or Sam looks like Freddie mercury from the queen
You pop the top off that fuse and snip the vdc side and you're good to go.
I saw the car behind you at 2:50 and bc of the way the boot looked at first i thought it was a supra 🥲
..... i got exited 🥲
I have an 04 350. And to answer your question at 15:00 the E-brake is on that same side for left hand drive. So it’s close to the driver. That’s strange the didn’t move it over to accommodate for right hand drive I didn’t know that
Hit a massive wall tap and still didn't spill a drop of coffee NEW ad clip when needed haha 🤣
You can tighten your vlsd to make it feel more like 1.5 way lsd
Keep the bumper of and get a bash bar 🤟
Sammit:- hates new cars
Sammit tommorow :- buys new car
I have a 350z as well and e break is on left hand driver side which is more easier to reach if you have left hand driver sit
4:52 ayy let’s get it man in the 240 good 8 fig!
Pull the abs bosche block under the centre console, weld the diff, and cooling mods and u good and some bolt on rack spacers
Sammit: Everything stock
Steering wheel?
That wasn’t a wall tap.... that was a wall slam
There is a sensor underneath the center consul that you can clip the orange wire and add a switch to it so it shuts it off completely
"Wall tap" lol
Yeah that was a little more than just a tap 🤣🤣
Get to rudniks new shop for a visit or invite Chris out there. You guys are hilarious together
I'm sure that will happen in due time. Remember Japan is much more strict on allowing tourists in and out. In the USA it seems as long as they're making money nobody could care less. In Asia they actually care about the people that live there.
Example: When I arrived in Korea after Covid started I had to do a test upon entering the country at the airport & they put an app on my phone to track me to make sure I stayed home and quarantined. They even called 3 times a day at different times, if you didn't answer after the 3rd attempt (incase you left your phone at home and went out) they would send the police to your listed address. If you weren't there they'd wait until you came home then take you to a government facility for the remainder of your quarantine.
When I arrived in the USA after Covid started I went anywhere I wanted because our government don't care about me or it's citizens.
If you remember back when Sam was finally able to go home and he quarantined for 14 days at home. He didn't stay home just because it was the right thing to do, he also stayed because if he left the Japanese government would know and he doesn't want to lose his visa over some dumb shit.
@M i Α vℓσg gσ тσ му ¢haηηєℓ! I just drift a Dodge Charger R/T with drilled & slotted rotors & Brembo break kit. Don't need an angle kit, I can just do it.
Left hand drive has it e-brake the same place as the RHD, making it more comfy for LHD :D
the best drifting setup for a stock car is any coilovers, a welded diff, and a inline hydro brake. Its the best setup for the money.
Out here yeah the hand break stays there, it is right by the driver you don't got to reach over,
You need to unhook the wheel speed sensor sam so it disables the stability control you already disabled the traction control but the stability control is still on
welded Diff is about to be a thing on the Z , May will be asking question as to why her car feels broken lol
If they have limited slip models he could just put one so its not so hard to drive for May.
Wire behind the brake pedal needs clipping Luke fink had same problem with his 370
On my g35 I disconnected the plug under the center console and the fuse that you pulled you can just pull the plastic cap and just cut the abs wire on the fuse also I believe there is a connector on the abs block you can unplug. Also I have been told you should bypass the clutch damper in driver side fender well usdm
just came from a video of a 350z at driftland uk and it seemed like they did not take out that thing to turn off TC fully, aha. i look forward to those tutorial videos, trying to fight my budget mx5 urge and move to 350z
THE Z350 DRIFTS LIKE A ROCK!
Cant wait to see what wheelll gonna use on Z !
yeah viscous limited slip differential over heats and then becomes a open diff .on donut media they welded a plate in the spider gears to make it work
Clip the lead inside your fuse for the ABS delete. 101 ECU pin chop, VDC delete, weld the rear end and then go. Hate to see such a nice Z become a drift car but if you have to then just send it. It was cheap anyway.
Oh you have a base model.. no VDC. Same as mine.
Yes the E-brake stays on the left of the car.
the side the hand brake is on depends on the car. for example the nd miata is on the right, but the 350z is on the left. it doesnt change for the rhd models of these though.
Hurts seeing a 350z in stock form drifting.
The e brake is on the proper side in the left hand z
Minami looks like a blast in the rain. Recently sold my 350z because of similar issues, it wasn't the primary and not worth the hassle. In saying that they can be super awesome with a few mods and are alot of fun for smaller tracks. Also didnt really dig how electronic everything was, fly by, vdc, lazy throttle, clutch issues, plastic everything, zero space, lazy diff etc. hahaha. Good luck with the mods on yours, bit of tinkering & it'll be alot better in the future.
I always thought that the tcs button took out everything, i have a 2004 DE, but when i drift that i can just ripp it like hell and it's stock. But everytime i spin around the slip light comes on and i can't turn tcs on again, so maybe that's a way to completly turn of eveything haha, just turn it off as regular and spin out xD
Edit: I think though that i have the track or gp package, because i have LSD and Brembo brakes.
In my drift 350z I had to cut a blue and white wire to the ECU and rip fuses and unplug different modules for me to have full control.
Love u sam
Ya gotta refuckulate the modulator
do a video on how to turn off abs and traction control completely
Can you please do POV drives
Depends on the trim. Mine comes with a LSD, locks even in 4th. This looks like open.
I thought that what the chaser was for lol. Please do not destroy the Z
It's what drifters do, they have no mercy.
For the handbrake thing, most cars I've been in have it in the same spot as your z. My car has it on the left hand side just under the door, which is weird
I want that video about cutting off abs
the LHD 350z ebrake postion is where yours is right now
You should paint it that OG Sunset Orange
Videos with ockohchan are the best Samhit is number 1 in my country?
From what I've seen if you don't have cruise control it's open diff.. but I have and enthusiast edition so came on 17s but had lsd and no vdc.
And yes in the left hand drive car the brake is on the left side
New rear bar?? Just drift stitch it. Luke finks the king when it comes to 350-370’s talk to him
I'm hyped for the project
BTW maybe you should catch up with Robbie he seems to have no problem throwing a stock 350z around :-)
hey! I was watching the Ebisu live stream and saw that! Didn't cross my mind to think it was you.
The e brake is on the same side as yours for left hand drive
fuck ya not bad sammit bruv , safe driving 😎
please sam do not destroy that z its too clean to be a missile and driving it to the wall please do not destroy it
It's what drifters do, they have no mercy.
which differential does this car have? would an LSD be better? id love to get a 370z drift build but also daily driver (avoiding the welded diff)
can you do drifting on Lexus Is 250 or 300 2008 ?
Loving the content Sam. If you wire a switch into the power or earth of the abs module witch is under the steering column you should be able to slip that ass around with ease
Yoo sammit hit up gk tech, luke fink runs all their arms etc on his z's
On a left hand drive the ebrake/ parking brake is still on the left side the way your z has it 14:41
The e brake is in the same spot lol it's pretty good XD😊
Not bad mate
Can we start a rear bumper replacement counter
did he ever drop the video on how to turn off traction control all the way off?
My Z’s left hand drive and the hand brakes in the same spot
In my 350 if you do acouple donuts the vdc and slip will fully turn off
Well both the lights will stay on until you turn the car off and on again
The ebrake is on the same side in the USDM ones as the JDM ones
Gotta love the 'Macgyvre' solution to electrical safety restraints of the vehichle, made me smile that's for sure. I look forward to the 350z content in future, sounds like it's going to be a great all rounder!
PLEASE DO NOT DESTROY THIS CAR! I can't watch....
Hand Brake is on the same side for the US version.
