The show should be called "Bring me back... With the skill and knowledge from today" :-)
Howard Goldfarb is being all loosey goosey and eating a sandwich. He's got to understand that everything he does at the poker table conveys information.
Yes
I remember that vid game.... U took me bk Guan Yu...
@@pacojuanrico Three Kingdoms is a classic!
@@guanyu8539 mos def a classic! But wait.... Aren't they all?
Woohoo, baby, I love it!
Regarding Howard Goldfarb, the only thing Google reveals is that he was a business partner of a Toronto bar back in 2004. No traces of him since. The name of the bar/restaurant was Harbour Sports Grille, downtown Toronto.
See if you can find the slickly produced 1-hour ESPN documentary entitled "Poker Town"
It was fairly raw, and quite a curiousity.
It followed the action surrounding a few of the entrants descending on Binions annual $10k World Series of Poker event. Great commentary with interviews and even some live play-by-play from poker players, dealers, bookies, gamblers, hospitality workers, poker insiders, tournament officials and even spectators from the rail.
It originally aired sometime in the 1980s.
Dan Harrington was one of the players.
brent is wearing a members only jacket and a casio calculator watch.....now that is OG!!!!
Excellent... thank you... and yes, you can see why Dan Harrington was so good ... the thinking & play was perfect in the last hand, for example.
“Come on Howard, light another cigarette! Do it, do it for us” 🤣😂💀💀
3:10 behind Albrecht is KevMath! lol that man is everywhere
Thank you so much for providing this classic era wsop...😮
I was on a one year world trip 94/95 and had read a book by Tony “London” Holden an timed my Vegas trip with this tournament. Cant remember any TV cameras but still have a print out of player chip count (day 2?). Remember watching but having no idea who the “stars” were. Pretty sure Hellmuth was involved. If anyone interested I can look for the print out ?
The clear next move here is to have on Huck Seed and discuss what I am assuming was the unfilmed final table of 1996.
Yes, 96 was the last one not filmed- the Discovery Channel filmed 99-01 and ESPN has done it ever since.
Love this show Remko. Why don't we ever see the final table when Huck Seed won the main event? Was that year filmed?? Thank you for all you do to help get all of us poker junkies through this very strange time in the existence of the world. Please stay safe.
Sadly, that final table wasn't filmed at all! I have looked for it forever and finally got word that there was no filming that year.
Yep, not filmed. Lon mentions it in one of the various episodes where Huck is in it.
But supposedly, according to wikipedia, the 1992 main event was filmed. Can't find that or any info about it either.
Hard to believe how long ago this was. Poker sure has changed since then. Look at the audience, there isn’t a single young person in the audience
Not sure why you’re confused that people are smoking… it was still legal to smoke indoors in most places up until the early 2000’s - mid 2000’s depending on the area and business. It wasn’t until 2019 that the WSOP actually created a rule to ban smoking, and many casinos in Vegas still allow smoking in the casinos… a lot of poker rooms had different rules than the general casino, often times limiting smokers in poker rooms, but it’s been a problem for a century and is only recently really being enforced out everywhere… I used to work at a bar during the summers ho,e from university in the very early 2000’s, and my clothes were covered in cigarette smell… and if I forgot to take my clothes off before my bedroom, then it would stink for days.
Fun watch, even if the guy commenting was obviously clueless about poker.
I started playing limit holdem and Omaha in San Diego around 1996. It was a different time since there weren't any no limit games except for tournaments. 20/40 was the biggest game available.
1996 20/40 was still a bigger game
My friend's Dad made the final table that year.
Legendary 89 suited
In 1995, the 10 year old me wasnt into poker. But, i do remember that world, like it was yesterday.
The poker boom started with Rounders and then the implementations of hole cards and putting it prime time espn. That’s why so many people started going in the early 2000’s, Moneymaker included. Everyone gives moneymaker all this credit, but look how the field changed in the years leading up to his win, and how many were at the 2003 tournament.
What? In 2002, only 631, in 2003, 839, *money maker, in 2004, 2576.... the number of entrants speaks for itself....
Poker Boom was because of ESPN's ungodly beautiful coverage of the WSOP mixed in with the ease of being able to play tournaments On-Line... and advertising online poker... but it was 100% ESPN's 2003 coverage
Harrington’s books were the best poker books on the market for over a decade… now you’ve got Modern Poker Theory by Michael Acevedo and Applications of No Limit Hold’em (heavy on the stats and math and only slightly outdated because of new solver info in the last 5years) and No Limiti Hold’em for Advanced Players (a somewhat easier read version of Applications by the same author, Matthew Janda, who uses the new book to update concepts and the numbers based on newer info provided by solvers. All three books are great and if you’ve been playing for a bit and want to push yourself to the next level, these books can upgrade your game ten fold.
TJ Cluthier smooked on the final hand of the 2000 final table🙌🏻😂
These were the real G’s of poker! 😆
And about the smoking at the table... You hated it but it was what it was. If you didn't like it you didn't play and there were certainly people who chose not to play for that reason. The year Russ Hamilton won had a guy who was chain smoking like crazy the whole broadcast. He would have one burning and light up another.
Dan is unrecognizable without his hat on crooked.
The 1996 World Series of poker . Is there any footage of that .
I played Binions early 2000s and their room was one of the last still allowing smoke. I thought it was great.
I was in that tournament
The Howard dude looks like bob sagets lesser successful brother.
First thought that the commentary would be a cooler. What do I know. Thanks for the Run Back.
look at the watches these guys are flexing back in 95 lol
where are the 1970 to 1990 material from wsop main. Some awesome episodes and more are all not on youtube anymore. Is it on pokergo? or all has been deleted?
All known WSOP videos are available on PokerGO.com
Dan Harrington looks younger as he ages, what a legend
Where’s His Terrible Looking Green Hat ????
Why does this feel like 1982? Not 1995.
Haha. It does doesn’t. I was born in 1982 and I am sure things in 95 didn’t look this old 😬
Smoking wasn't a big deal back then u could smoke anywhere. This dude has a hard on for the anti smoking comments. I dont even smoke but smoking is a part of poker history bud.
Before Sammy Farha, there was Hamid "smoke'em if you got'em" Dastmalchi! WAR Action Dan!
I remember dan from the mayfair, and Howard from Toronto
why can't you play audio during intro, that's pretty cool to see, instead of you talking and saying I don't wanna listen
That dude said I usually fold the KQ
Don’t blame him.
“Harrington bets $30 into a $350,000 pot.”
Dick Van Patten: He must have the nuts. I’m sure of it. What else could he possibly have if he bets $30??
ESPN was broadcasting the main event for years before this. You can find video going back to 1974. I've seen them all many times. Be sure to check out the 1993 Final table. John Bonetti makes the worst play in the history of the final table and it costs him an easy $200k.
His "worst play in the history" is when he shoved with top pair top kicker (AK with K on the board) and was called by a set ?
I can't find this video so i don't know how the hand was, but idk if its really a terrible play... If you have a link to see it, i take ;)
@@deepnofin It was the worst play because Glen Cozen had almost no chips and was certain to finish 3rd. It was an ICM mistake, not necessarily a hand play mistake. I'll see if I can find a link to share.
@@Thumper1968 Oh ok i see ! Thank you ;) It's a pleasure to (re)watch WSOP Main Events, its a shame they are not available anymore on YT imo.
@Pops H It was the wrong way to go about it.
@Pops H I'm not. Bonetti did not understand ICM. It was a huge mistake.
Is this 1995 or 1985? I was 15 in 95. And i don't remember 95 looking this old
1995 to 45 yr olds in a smoky old casino, where as we all know, time stops. Not a lot of Nirvana being played in those lobbies.
Wandered into Binions that night and watched a bit, saw when Barbara got knocked out.
The smoking thing kinda blows my mind too. I'm a smoker myself and I'm so glad it isn't allowed in the poker rooms anymore.
What you've got to remember is smoking was everywhere, restaurants, bars, aeroplanes, work places, hospitals, crazy now to look back at it.
I cant even watch this with all the interruptions of the original broadcast. If they gonna replay these the old tournament's shut up and let us hear the original commentators.
Obv Howard Goldfarb stopped playing when they banned smoking at the table
@13:30 The man says Aww Shit. lol ESPN
Holy cow is dick van patten the king from spaceballs? I thought he was going to say 'one million space bucks' instead of 'one million dollars'
I can remember smoking on airplanes, if you think smoking at the poker table was crazy
i love how the one announcer barely knows whats going on. So he has to have the straight here bc he's betting.
Please turn up the volume on the commentators
Why announce the winner at the beginning? Seems unnecessary
Dude are you Dutch?
Don’t saw who won if we don’t know :(
Dont think that I've seen so many all ins. One right after another. Wasn't a whole lot of post flop play.
The content is great!
You talking over with questions and shoutouts is not😔
Please find a way to add value or just play it.
It would be better if this guy knew anything about the history of tournament poker
old good times, when u can smoke at the table
The original broadcast is better than listening to this guy. FAIL
quit talking about the smoke you little baby. it was a different time. people were free.
Your freedom ends where your actions affect others around you. Like it or not, the decision to ban smoking in buildings is public health policy grounded in real science. Is it that much of a nuisance to go outside for a smoke break?
@@grimshawr effect**
@@tps64 it's a verb.
@@grimshawr both are verbs. effect is the correct one in the context of your comment.
@@tps64 no, you're only half right. Effect can be used as a verb. One can effect change. In this context, "affect" is the correct word. Be pedantic when you are right.
That table looks so small...
Since they are only 6 handed they are probably using a stud table which only seats 8 and is smaller
Action Dan
Geez. The money sounds so small
Look at all dem OS Benjamins 💵 💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵
Why did they say barbara would be the first female millionaire if she won? Thats not accurate.
lol 273 player. now 200k players
Both them guys hitting this cigs like 13 year old girls. And how inconsiderate of them. I know smoking was allowed, but even when I smoked I wouldn’t smoke in the vicinity of a non smoker. Such disrespect
Dan is probably the most uncharismatic and uninspiring poker champion ever.
That's why his nickname is a parody of that, Action Dan
Computer geeks ruined poker.
Sorry that we dont shove all in all the time and now you have to use your brain.
Nah they enhanced it.
They did ruin chess though. That game is now dominated by computers.
Don't know why you think smoking at the table is so strange when casino's are still full of smokers. The sooner smoking is banned indoors the better.
Next run it back please...less talk over the hands and ask few questions like ..was there a chop ? did they had 100% of their action,Etc,etc and less Ego Fluffing.....
I like this show but my lord the streamer guy just runs his mouth non stop. Its like u talk just for the sake of talking.
Who wants to see Mike Matusow on here?
I would but I don't remember which year he made the WSOP main event final table. Definitely made other final tables a bunch.
