After WW 2 the Gentle humour of Laurel & Hardy gave way to the sharp double talk act of Abbott & Costello 😊

Sad that both of Lou Costello's daughters Patty and Chris are gone!😢 - Correction: I just checked on the internet - Lou Costello's daughters Christine (Chris) Costello and Patricia (Patty) Costello are thankfully still alive - it was Lou Costello's second daughter Carole who died too young in 1987 from a stroke.😢 Lou had 3 daughters not two. I remember reading somewhere that Chris Costello believes that one of Lou's relatives was upset over Lou not lavishing him with gifts and/or bringing him to California when Lou became famous and wealthy and in anger murdered Lou's one year-old son Butch (Lou Costello Jr.) by placing him face down in the swimming pool! Supposedly the LAPD closed down its' investigation into Butch Costello's death in less than 24 hours! No scuff marks were found on the baby's knees which makes it hard to believe that the baby climbed out of it's crib and crawled across the cement patio and fell into the swimming pool!

With all due Respect to Mr Costello it’s been often said that losing a Child is one of the hardest things a Parent can go through i have not experienced that but i am a Father and couldn’t imagine going through that Experience it appears that Lou did the best anyone could expect as a Man,Father,Husband ,and Bread Winner

Thank you for this informative video! I think it's amazing and so rare in Hollywood when family values are cultivated. It refreshing that Lou Costello put family ahead of so many of the vulgar ambitions that have existed in the industry for so long. It's good to know what a great man he was off camera. It's usually the opposite with so many stars.

Lou Costello has been (and will always be) a comedy hero to me.... going back to the 1960s. His style of comedy and acting was real and came naturally to him. I was lucky enough to become social media friends with his daughter Christine (Chris) Costello (Featured in this documentary) about 10 years ago who by the way, is one of the most down to Earth, non pretentious people I've ever met. Even sharing rare family photos with me. Abbott and Costello was the best comedy duo to ever perform!

I was excited to see this but the written narrative is highly repetitive and not well written. I didn't last very long. I stopped when a couple of the teasers were repeated for the third time. I recommend his daughter's book written several years ago. It talks about the death of his son just before Lou had to get on stage for "Who's on First". He (both performers) was brilliant and deserves better from this site. Disappointed.

When they did a This Is Your Life show for Lou, Bud was there and expressed openly that they may have had their differences over the years, but they were always friends.
Lou quipped, "I'm just glad one of us didn't sing."
The show was done around the time of the tumultuous Martin & Lewis breakup in all of the headlines.

What I hate so much of this type of documentary even though it's a mini one You do all the talking and we don't get a chance to hear more than just a few words from the actual entertainer and the individual you're talking about Maybe you could make this a 1 hour and you can do half to talking and let them do the other half This would be much more entertaining and more informative that we actually got to see the real entertainer speak and entertain!

I particularly like this documentary because of all the videos and stills that the producer had put in here. Yep I know the same wording over and over again it's annoying but I guess destruction video gave them the opportunity to put as many video and still clips into this doc. There were a lot of repeat videos who can appreciate those muted colors back in the 40s of Lou and his son and family looking so chipper.. the loss of his son changed so much a haunted him for almost two decades. As a kid I never noticed he was carrying this grief even throughout his TV career.. also I forgot to mention that they both had gambling and tax issues during their career. One thing that was beautiful what's to build a youth center for the kids. I thought it would have been in Paterson, NJ. Didn't realize it was in Los Angeles. Don't know much about LA, but what is a hicktown? I thought you would bring that joy to Patterson. But above all Lou missing his son we do these other things to bring joy to these unprivileged kid's lives. And you can notice in the audience of the TV show that the I think the live audience was mostly kids. Which was a hoot to hear them laughing that's a nice legacy by Lou and Bud

I was born in 1941 and I never got Abbott and Costello's type of humour, I personally found their act frankly unfunny and rather old-fashioned even at the time. I'm not saying Abbott and Costello weren't funny it's only my personal opinion, equally, I'm sure their type of humour was enjoyed by many people, just that I was not one of them. The great thing about nostalgia is that it is in the past, I have great memories of post-war Britain even though much of it was in abject poverty and hunger. I have many happy memories of that time, but I wouldn't like to relive it.

I don't know if it's true and please don't threaten to hurt me, but I've heard that many of their routines, including Who's On First and Susquehanna Hat Company were actually ancient comedy routines that had been kicking around the Burlesque circuits for a century, but they were the first to perform them on radio and in movies and they were able to claim ownership of these routines because most Americans never went to a house of Burlesque and some of these routines were so old they hadn't been performed for a generation by the time A & C adopted them. Frankly, I always thought these routines slowed down the movie and got tiresome. I preferred the short, snappy jokes embedded the dialogue, like when he gives advice to a boy "Never marry a beautiful woman. A beautiful woman might leave you." Boy: "Well an ugly woman could leave you too." Costello: "Yeah, but who cares?"

@@maureencrean and sometimes the things you are writting or saying require the word fuck just to emphasize the point being made.
Also, some people are strong enought and mature enough to actually say the word fuck let alone hear it without them turning into simpering little snow flakes who at best can only deal with the term f-word.....

I can see how mature you are on your response. There are a million other words you can use.

@@maureencrean and I can see that you are sadly a fragile little snowdrop flower who can't handle adult language.
There are times when using harsh langauge is required to properly emphasize and drive home the point one is trying to deliver, and this POS video is one of them. And judging by the thumbs up my comment got, I am not alone in my thinking.
Carry on little snowdrop, I am sure there is a lot more out there on youtube for you to get your knickers in twist over and a satisfy your need to feel outraged.

Click-bait. Very little in this 30 minute video from Lou's daughter. Poorly written script. Worse narrator. Nothing provided here was "untold." Everything here has been well documented for decades. Don't waste your time viewing this.

Poorly written... and very redundant in how the content/script is repeated. If this were edited down to the content only being heard once or twice, the length would be 20 minutes or less. Also the title is pretty "low". Page of Wonder is pulling a "click bait" trip.. as if this title "Lou Costello Died 64 Years Ag, And Now His Daughter Confirms The Rumors"... implies there's something (anything!) that is "shocking". Nothing. The title is click bait. I'd be likely to trust "Page of Wonders". Absolutely pathetic ability to tell the story. (As an example, his son's downing at 1 year old.. "Butch".. is repeated numerous times, and it simply becomes "filler". POOR writing... click bait titling. Thumb down.. and won't be watching this channel again. If "Page of Wonder" WANTS more than 575 subs, they FIRST need to learn how to write!!! Editing is fine.. announcing quality is good, but "CONTENT is king!" (and the content is extremely repetitive).
