Anyone else just randomly stumble across this guy and now your obsessed with the adventure videos?
Absolutely, I am spending a stupid amount of time obsessing
I just bought a canoe :\ How did this happen?
Yes
I am now. It's like camping with my Dad.
No spongebob whyyyyyyyyyy
Scout is my favorite bushcrafter on youtube, hands down......
I agree, you can't help but smile when Scout is there
Lily's Dax is pretty cool, too...
I think that Dax has passed away
furncemanjim yeah scout does all the wood work to
+Southern Survival
Scout ROCKS!!!
All good Joe, keep it going. Whatever you're most passionate about. It comes through in the video.
The Wooded Beardsman
Will Joe and yourself ever do something together?
Your username really took me aback for a second
Anyone else in 2024 come back to the older videos to see scout? ❤ I miss old scout.
Just saw your video of the crash joe. Glad you’re okay. Get well soon. Don’t worry about the channel!
love these bushcraft structure building videos. I like the idea of you showing how to build a shelter, a raised bed, etc; then using them and let people know how it was. Maybe see what improvement can be done after an overnight and eventually make a sequel series and do another overnight.
I think a series of videos are better, rather than. one long video. I'm liking the shelter so far Joe.
I like it Joe. Looking forward to the next videos. Super sharp quality too
I really enjoy watching all the bushcraft videos but especially shelter building. I'm a 64 year old woman so you have an ability to reach and inspire a wide range of people. I like your humility and willingness to laugh at yourself. Its kind of like a cooking show to, so I get bushcraft and Rachel Ray ( in the rough) all in one video!
1:51. Have to love the way Scout was looking at that tree. All ready to carry it away for Joe.
I'm not sure Scout is pure German Shepherd.. More like German Retriever Shepherd ;)
Dawn Del Guercio hes a belgian malnois :)
Well then, my joke stands, except substitute Malinois in there ;) "Belgian Retriever Malinois" I do know of Malinois, but do not have a trained enough eye to have seen if Scout is one ;) On the other hand, I did have a crush on the Tervuren breed at one point :) (I studied dog breeds as a hobby when I was younger..) ;)
You don't get enough credit for your videos Joe. You are one hell of an outdoors-man and that's coming from someone that got a compliment just the other day saying that I'm quite the outdoors-man. Your video's are great! You might be the first person I found on YT that does this sort of thing. I used to just hike and now I even go on solo trips into the woods. I was out this past weekend with the Common Sense Camper and we had a conversation about you. He did say something about how people don't understand how hard it is to film the things you do. I totally agree. I don't film anything I do, but I did make an appearance in his last vid. Thank you for getting me started on bush crafting about 3 or 4 years ago.
I just found your channel two weeks ago and I'm HOOKED. great, informative, addicting content...
awesome!
Ahoy Joe. Thanks for let us joining your new project. Try to rub the pot with oil before you leave the house. Greetings from Germany, Azze.
You are the first person that I have seen who actually built the bed BEFORE the shelter. I find it a lot easier to do it that way, Otherwise you are fighting the roof of the shelter for position. I like the way you work.
good to see you and Scout back in the woods. I'm sure Scout is enjoying a familiar place
love your dog--such a sweet dog and great spirit.
I think that the separate episodes are great idea and building a shelter is always interesting to watch. Keep on the good work 👍
would love to see more of this! and lets see how that mustach and beard evolves shall we? :)
Yes! Keep doing stuff like this any time you feel like it. I liked how you changed things up to the canoe/kayak and tent, but like seeing how your bushcraft techniques have evolved. Thanks.
I really want you to do a series like a long one and build like survival lily camp that would be so cool and once a month sleep in your camp
Nice work Jo. You could make a V shaped roof by putting a Y pole behind the fire reflector and run two poles from the ridge pole and lattice cover with sticks / debris. Keeps the fire dry and gives a dry work space on front of the shelter.
Awesome video. I really enjoy this series.
nice!
Man I love these old scout overnighters, these were the good old days!
I love these videos! You have a great personality and are very entertaining, and Scout is the epitome of awesomeness (funniest scene with him 'helping' +2:30). Keep up the fantastic work - very much looking forward to the next set of videos.
EDIT: forgot to add - liked and subbed!
thanks!
Was looking back on this video, nice memory of Scout, it really brings a smile and warms my heart to see him with you here. Love that dog! 😎
Thanks for using "inches" :) Also the series thing is great. In the music industry we release things in parts like that. I'll go into the studio and record a whole album but release them bit by bit so that way even tho the album is finished, we don't release it all at once. Instead we let out a single every month or every few weeks. So that way while we're writing our next album, we have fresh media being pumped into our fans so we don't go stale. Babam, son! Then when we go to record the next one, we release the previous album that's fully finished. So yeah, do the series thing and then maybe at the end when they're all completed smush them together into one video so people can watch part 1, 2 and 3 seperately, or they can watch it all at once. Or don't. Just a little media marketing hint ;) You got this. Wonder where you got the idea? :p Good idea, great video, and awesome mustache.
Still blows me away to see the saw my oldest friend designed all over youtube. Hell, now it is even sold at MEC.
Also great video man! Forest looks incredible.
Cool series! A bit of wax would allow you to tame the stache and you can then take it in some crazy interesting directions. Another great video Brother!
agree I could definitely recommend a few waxes for him or he could watch my playlist lol
Gross no wax. Lol. Just a trim. Lol
Love your series idea Joe, that way we can go right to a particular one if we want to pick up on something we liked or wanted to try. Think we all agree, Scout the pooch is the glue that ties each vid up in a nice tidy knot, and keeps us comin back. Hey, what about a Scout Raffel? One us has the chance to win your dog so we can make our own series, but then that would hurt your hits.......ok bad idea. I tried....
lol
G'day Joe, love your channel. Drives my gf a bit nuts make her watch it for the camping knowledge. a bit different down in Australia. please keep doing this series, love seeing properly set up camps, as many people don't have permission to do, so they cannot put it on their UA-cam channel. mate think just grow a beard for winter and get rid of the mo. Give scout and pat from me and keep on filming mate. love the effort and end product.
cheers
I just love watching you and scout do your thing in the woods, no matter what you do. Do whatever you enjoy most! keeps it fun for us too.
Scout makes the cutest face
In a series is great! Just remember that you can't please everyone at the same time, so just do whatever videos you want however you want. You've got the best 'outdoors' channel around 😃
Love this...please continue...and uh, hurry for next one, eh? LOL
Hi Joe, great idea to split it up into two or three episodes. Look forward to watching the rest. atb.
A series building the camp would be awesome. Make your content. You can't please everybody.
Making a series is a good idea.
I watch every single video of yours. I wish I had like-minded friends here in Goa, to go try bushcrafting....
Very motivated with your videos!
Keep them coming....
nice!
19:25 rip little bug,
19:34 oh hey he's back!
WAIT DON'T
rip mr bug
LOL, I saw that too. Had a good laugh.
19:37 still there, exactly in the corner created between the little branch and the log he was cutting on, actually you can see it walking few steps toward the hit which Joe just did
Your videos are always great man, make the ones you want to make, the ones you enjoy making- we'll watch them!
Love series! Go for it! Only person to ask about your Stache is the woman in your life!:-)
wise.
This is my favorite kind of format where I can follow along, step by step. You're a great teacher. I used to use truckers hitch for just about all cinching but now I've learned the Canadian jam knot which is just as effective but simpler. TY! Keep doin what you're doin!
Really enjoyable video man! I dont know what it is but its so damn intresting watching someone building a camp, learning a ton of great new stuff! Good idea to make a series of this. Also your dog seems to be an awesome companion out there. Keep them videos coming. (thumbs up)
Magnus Persson Couldn't agree more. When it's done I can't help but think of how nice it would be to enjoy a brew there.
Yes and a pipe full of Longbottom leaf and a pint of the Prancing Pony´s finest....I dig that!
A pipe LOL, smoking kills man, especially in the case of pipes, no filters at all that I'm aware of. Joe is healthy and he has a young daughter and a wife who wants and needs him to live to be an old man. 50% of smokers will die early due to cancer. 50%
Smoke on! Think I'll pack a little now.
the color of the trees in this video are awesome, I can only imagine what they look like in person. Absolutely phenomenal, great job Joe!!!
Keyword "Yellow"
right!
PREPAREDMIND101 what's bush craft???
Bushcaft is a collection of terms actually. Literally translated it's crafting stuff in the bush. So essentially it's about the things you do and craft in the woods. e.g. making fire, making a shelter, making tools etc :)
Yes Yes, these type of projects are great. We can start our own and follow along as you go.
Can you make it a bunk-bed? #Sleepover
Scrambled O so much room for activities!
Scrambled O You know you want to double up on one level.
Scrambled O That I think would be the first ever bushcraft bunkbed made. Do it.
Scrambled O love your videos, also you and Joe should do a collab and camp
Scrambled O until
It collapses like on step brothers hahahaha
Love it Mr Robinet. This is what i like too see staring Joe. this is what you got ME started to go out in the woods. what i mostly watched in your chanel. great job, and entertaining.
@24:35 u were making me soooo hungry lolol
Amazing how yellow those leaves are! Almost no color variation - really cool !
R.I.P the bug at 19:25
i was wonderin if anyone else caught that lo
Watching your videos always makes me want to do the same as you did. You are such an inspiration. Thank you for the video. Really enjoyed it.
where do you do your camping? I'm looking for some good spots near North Bay area ( where I live now)
I'm either up in Algonquin area or Southern On.
What kind of spots are you looking for? I grew up in North Bay and do most of my outtings there.
The Wooded Beardsman open, and not regulated. Kind of the alone feeling. Like what you get in the north bits of Algonquin
harrison corey
You can get that almost everywhere since almost all of it is crown land. Are you aware of that? Try google maps and track down some trails, that lead to lakes. There are literally thousands of lakes within North Bay that will give you a sense of solitude.
You're right though, the North end of Algonquin right around the border can work for you. I fish a few up there and you often get the lakes to yourself. If you're willing to do a bit of a walk, there's a ton.
You can also head up North to Temagami region, but stay out of the parks.
I don't share my specific lakes since it will just end up driving too much traffic, but get out google maps and start looking around. There really is almost too much to choose from.
Thank you very much, I appreciate the help!
scout cried cause he smells the sasquatch that pushed the green tree over lol
Would be cool to see you do some overnighters in it Joe. Maybe turn it into a super shelter for the winter. Great video as always many thanks.
for sure!
Other bushcraft channels like Joe channel? Atm this is My favourite bushcraft channel, but I need mlre :3
Regards
There's his back country buddies Kyle (burley outdoors), doug (doug outside), shawn (my self reliance), scrambled o. And he also watches Lilly (survival lilly) and if you're into primitive technology, there's primitive technology. There's also native survival whom he was on Alone with as well.
Check out UPNORTHOF60 ..I hear he has some good videos.
skyyabsolut Thank u dude ;)
MCQBushcraft & Alfie Aesthetics, UK guys, both very talented and one is hilarious.
+1 to MCQBushcraft, and I find ReallyBigMonkey entertaining :)
I have been watching your videos and Lilly's videos for almost 3 years now. I absolutely love the camp building videos. They are what got me into watching bushcraft to begin with. Love your work. I rather enjoy your newer longer length video format, as I tend to binge watch them anyway.
trim at the lip line ... #bushcraftbeautytips
Great video! I like the instructions you provide and how you let us in on how you're thinking. Fantastical, no. Shave the stash, yes.
Your obviously should just grow a bush beard :p
You*
snowboarder450 He can't grow a beard.
Joe yes these are the videos we want to see back to the basics that got you started. a series would be great. maybe some more basic bush crafting like more items you need but can make out of your surroundings you know bushcraft. maybe some different types of shelters. carvings, pot hangers.maybe a more long term type situation that could be done as a series and over time.
COLLAB WITH SURVIVAL LILY
I used to enjoy Lily's videos but more recently I feel like shes become a bit self important than she once was.
To your question:
Do what you enjoy doing, we will love it just as much! Series are cool, but long timelapse are fun as well! Your transitions are getting more professional each time! Having a lot of fun watching!
Keep up the good work,
-From a fellow Canadian :)
grow a beard my boy
Joe, Dude. You're awesome. Keep this going in a series so we can all live vicariously through you man!
Series for sure. These episodes are really enjoyable to watch, especially when I watch it on my flat screen. Bring Scout too! I love seeing him beg for sticks. Lol
I enjoy watching you build the shelter. Let the stash grow
Now that we're getting into the snowy time of year, an episode showing how to make and sleep in an ice cave would be really awesome
Joe, you're amazing & inspire me to get outdoors more! Thanks for everything you do! I like the series videos, as long as they're filled with lots of content & not too short (this one was perfect). Awesome video & I look forward to more! Thanks!
thanks for the feedback!
scout is so majestic and even more than usual with the yellow trees and light
A series of videos on the construction of your campsite sounds good to me. Good video this time by the way.
The series is awesome Joe! My 6 year old son and I are getting ready to scout out a location for a base camp in North Georgia over Thanksgiving week. Thanks and keep 'em coming!
This one is for sure one of my favorite, you have done. Love this little mini series, learned a lot, no doubt why you are one of my favorite to watch, of coarse Scout too, he cracks me up. My dog does the same thing, taking my sticks and all, will sit there and wait for me to make a nice feather stick and grab it and run around with it, Cheers Joe, take care, and Thank again for the great content.
I just started to watch this guy and he is a survivalist that is for sure
Really like the format and would enjoy watching the completion of the series. Thanks for sharing.
You were talking about the mugginess and the mosquitoes in November. I recently went into the Mountains on February 10th and was in a sleeveless shirt at 11pm and all day we were getting eaten alive by mosquitoes! We didn't need a fire for heat but defiantly for the bugs!! Yet another awesome video! Great job!!
I like this series, fun to watch reminds me of the vids that got me watching your channel in the beginning. 👍
I for one would enjoy a series of basecamp build. It would also be nice to see it in use afterward
Really enjoy videos like this. I like seeing how other people think and come up with problem solving ideas. You can always pick up little things that you might not of thought of yourself.
yes I am interested in seeing this type of series. Thanks Joe.
I'm surprised you don't get your site vandalised when you are away. Here in Australia that would probably happen. I enjoy watching whatever videos you make especially when you make everything yourself. Keep up the great work.
This format and series is great! Keep it up!
I like the idea of a series. It's always fun to watch how someone else builds their shelter.
I liked the format. The multiple episodes really provide more insight than the one episode ones. I really like the multiple parts
I love this kinda stuff .. i watch it every time i wanna go to bed , right before i went to sleep i grab my phone wear an earbud and just enjoy the video! keep up buddy
Definitely would enjoy the series. I enjoy watching base camp building on here. Interesting to see one's idea of a comfortable shelter and how they'd build it.
I like the series idea. Makes it much easier to follow. Nice job Joe
I much prefer these type videos over the canoeing videos. Great video as always brother.
very cool to see, when you build something! interessting video jeo! 👍🏾
Like the idea - roll with it! I love how excited Scout gets when you start cutting sticks!!
These are my favorite kind of vids you make, looking forward to more as always, you the man joe for real
thanks :)
I think I will enjoy this series. Keep um coming. Cheers till the next one!
Me personally, I love the series type of videos. Makes it fun to watch and wait for the next one! Even before you said "Just like Lilly", I thought it was just like it. Also, it REALLY shows your talents even if it may seem trivial to you compared to a 50Km portage like you can do.
For me, its exactly what i want. 20-30min vids of bushcraft camp's/technics.. keep going. i like
Really enjoy most of the videos you upload, but this type is my favourite, its what inspires me most to get out in the woods and enjoy the serenity
Cheers from Australia
P.S. love the stache, stay sharp
I really enjoy watching your series that you do. They have all been very informative and have been instructing me in many new areas I have had to learn about recently. Thank you for your your detailed explanations. Bless you and your family.
You done good, Dude. And Scout is one GOOD Buddy. I hope by now you took all the advice and grew a good bush. Kudos.
good series, keep em coming.
Great video, I really like the idea of a series about this shelter! Keep up the nice work!
hugs for Scout
Hello Joe.
I have been subscribed to your channel for some time, and it actually was the thing that gave me the impulse to go out into the woods and relax there. You are doing a great job by the way! The videos that I personaly enjoy the most are the ones where you just go out and spend the day being natural and doing whatever you feel like doing at the moment. Making this one as a series sounds good too because you can make more detailed videos about your activities there each day. I will surely be watching the next ones too. Thank you for your nice channel, and keep on doing the same quality work that you've done so far. Cheers to you from Romania!
After a day hearing about election crap it is great to watch something calming and peaceful. Thank you!
Always enjoy watching the different techniques and preferences everyone has. Also your videos are top notch, thanks for sharing!
