love these bushcraft structure building videos. I like the idea of you showing how to build a shelter, a raised bed, etc; then using them and let people know how it was. Maybe see what improvement can be done after an overnight and eventually make a sequel series and do another overnight.

I really enjoy watching all the bushcraft videos but especially shelter building. I'm a 64 year old woman so you have an ability to reach and inspire a wide range of people. I like your humility and willingness to laugh at yourself. Its kind of like a cooking show to, so I get bushcraft and Rachel Ray ( in the rough) all in one video!

You don't get enough credit for your videos Joe. You are one hell of an outdoors-man and that's coming from someone that got a compliment just the other day saying that I'm quite the outdoors-man. Your video's are great! You might be the first person I found on YT that does this sort of thing. I used to just hike and now I even go on solo trips into the woods. I was out this past weekend with the Common Sense Camper and we had a conversation about you. He did say something about how people don't understand how hard it is to film the things you do. I totally agree. I don't film anything I do, but I did make an appearance in his last vid. Thank you for getting me started on bush crafting about 3 or 4 years ago.

You are the first person that I have seen who actually built the bed BEFORE the shelter. I find it a lot easier to do it that way, Otherwise you are fighting the roof of the shelter for position. I like the way you work.

Nice work Jo. You could make a V shaped roof by putting a Y pole behind the fire reflector and run two poles from the ridge pole and lattice cover with sticks / debris. Keeps the fire dry and gives a dry work space on front of the shelter.

Thanks for using "inches" :) Also the series thing is great. In the music industry we release things in parts like that. I'll go into the studio and record a whole album but release them bit by bit so that way even tho the album is finished, we don't release it all at once. Instead we let out a single every month or every few weeks. So that way while we're writing our next album, we have fresh media being pumped into our fans so we don't go stale. Babam, son! Then when we go to record the next one, we release the previous album that's fully finished. So yeah, do the series thing and then maybe at the end when they're all completed smush them together into one video so people can watch part 1, 2 and 3 seperately, or they can watch it all at once. Or don't. Just a little media marketing hint ;) You got this. Wonder where you got the idea? :p Good idea, great video, and awesome mustache.

Love your series idea Joe, that way we can go right to a particular one if we want to pick up on something we liked or wanted to try. Think we all agree, Scout the pooch is the glue that ties each vid up in a nice tidy knot, and keeps us comin back. Hey, what about a Scout Raffel? One us has the chance to win your dog so we can make our own series, but then that would hurt your hits.......ok bad idea. I tried....

You can get that almost everywhere since almost all of it is crown land. Are you aware of that? Try google maps and track down some trails, that lead to lakes. There are literally thousands of lakes within North Bay that will give you a sense of solitude.
You're right though, the North end of Algonquin right around the border can work for you. I fish a few up there and you often get the lakes to yourself. If you're willing to do a bit of a walk, there's a ton.
You can also head up North to Temagami region, but stay out of the parks.
I don't share my specific lakes since it will just end up driving too much traffic, but get out google maps and start looking around. There really is almost too much to choose from.

I liked the format. The multiple episodes really provide more insight than the one episode ones. I really like the multiple parts

Definitely would enjoy the series. I enjoy watching base camp building on here. Interesting to see one's idea of a comfortable shelter and how they'd build it.

Me personally, I love the series type of videos. Makes it fun to watch and wait for the next one! Even before you said "Just like Lilly", I thought it was just like it. Also, it REALLY shows your talents even if it may seem trivial to you compared to a 50Km portage like you can do.

    Hello Joe.
I have been subscribed to your channel for some time, and it actually was the thing that gave me the impulse to go out into the woods and relax there. You are doing a great job by the way! The videos that I personaly enjoy the most are the ones where you just go out and spend the day being natural and doing whatever you feel like doing at the moment. Making this one as a series sounds good too because you can make more detailed videos about your activities there each day. I will surely be watching the next ones too. Thank you for your nice channel, and keep on doing the same quality work that you've done so far. Cheers to you from Romania!
