I just finished Ep6 and though I don't know the full story, there are things that make me question the whole series' accuracy. Looking forward to your next video.

EXCELLENT! I IT SEEMS THAT THE "POPULAR" VERSION (GRADE SCHOOL) WAS FAR TOO "WATERED DOWN" THAN THE GRITTY VIOLENT REALITY! THANK YOU!

When I started watching this series, I had never read Swanson’s book. So I bought it and I’ve been binge reading it since!
Hate to be “that guy” that says the “book is better than the movie/series, etc” but that’s definitely the case. I’m struggling because the series has its good elements, but it’s cringey when they detour from the book (I would especially note the raid on Seward’s house - Sawnson’s account is so cinematic! It would have been very riveting to see that played out as it actually happened). Regardless, still curious to see how the rest goes!
Love your content - definitely want to support your channel! Keep it up 👍

Couldn’t agree more. I absolutely love the book.

I found Seward’s assassination from the POV of David outside was even more horrific because of what you didn’t see, but what you heard and then glimpsing things through the window. Absolutely harrowing.

Hi, great job on your review! What about that dream sequence that Stanton has, that I felt was off and really didn’t push the story forward at all. Also, wasn’t it Grant who felt guilty about not being with Lincoln that night, not Stanton? Anyway, great job!

Yeah left that out in the interest of time. That was weird since as discussed in the first review he didn’t actually get an invite to the theater! Im with you there. I’m sure Stanton really did have some guilt that he could have saved Lincoln somehow, though.

Finished the series, even as an amateur historian of the Civil War period, I noticed gobsmacking inaccuracies with the show that question whether they did any historical research before making it.

I've been bogged down at work and haven't had the time to cut together a video. Hoping to do so soon! Thank you for watching.

@@MrDrosteHistory thank you 🙏. I don't want to continue watching the series until I clarify how fake it is. I can't stand when history is re-written. They should be required to have disclaimers

was Stanton really running around doing the investigation? Skip the show and read the book.

I enjoy your comments - I have a question about episode 5 at the 24:22 mark - when the dad goes through the back pack - the pack looks modern, so does the buckle and note book. And it’s a close up of them. Takes me out of the story because it seems so obvious.

I thought it was nice how they strongly hinted at Johnstons alcoholism. I thought that Doctor Mudd was in many ways most accurate to the point of the actor even looking a lot like the real Dr Mudd. I also wonder where Mary Lincolns was hysterics? Calm and occasionally angry was not who Mary Todd Lincoln was.
