Nice work, guys! It's always interesting to see how others are doing things. We tried to avoid holes in the van too but ended up having to bolt the floor down in a couple spots because our adhesive didn't work so great. Looking forward to the next video!
Bryan that is exactly what we love to hear! We'd love to see your build when it's done. Be sure to stick around cause we've got a whole lot of building to do, maybe we'll help you with another project too!!! - Alex
I have never had any luck with liquid nail I would not trust that to hold down my floor at all especially with the changing weather in the wood expanding
Why do you use havelock wool under the floor instead of 1" foam boards that most DIYers use? Furthermore, foam boards would add rigidity to the floor to prevent sagging.
For sure, we did that in our first build but had so much Havelock we figured we would use it everywhere. There's no right or wrong way, this floor ended up being very comfortable, actually retained warmth better in the winter than when we had the foam boards in our first van. We have a whole guide on the van build process if you want to check it out: www.fnavanlife.com/product/van-layout-guide
Hey guys great videos.I have a question what's that plastic piece you screw on the inside to attached to the roof for your solar cable I can't look it up because I don't know the name of it
Hey Aaron, I think you mean the little plastic nubs that go through the metal to run the wire from the inside to the outside. This is the complete list of everything we got for our solar system. In our first build we used the grey double entry cable boxes but because the ProMaster roof is so wavy we just too the insides of those and used them without the casing. Hope that helps! www.amazon.com/shop/fnavanlife?listId=1913GUJMRT2NG
Hey Connie! It's a consolidation of all the floor stuff! Some of the clips we showed before but wanted to make it easy for anyone who wanted to know how to build a floor!!!
4:23 Havelock Wool advertises as not needing a vapour barrier ... However, Wool is NOT in any way a vapour barrier though, it allows vapour in an out naturally .. That being said I agree with you opinion of leaving out the va[pouyr barrier, in my opinion, it's waste money as is is virtually impossible to create a vapour barrier in a van. ... AND! in fact the attempt to create a vapour barrier is almost certain to trap moisture IN the wall cavity. And natural wool an deal with than van "Breathing" vapour in and out of the van wall cavity.

As a Boston boy, it brings me joy to hear a Brooklyn boy struggle with "caulk" ;)
hahahaha Boston has been struggling with caulk for a while!!! LOL
I feel like I saw this already, but still fun to watch.
We had some bits of it in thw vlog but wanted to make a full tutorial so it was easy for anyone building to find!
I love seeing the actually build videos. They entertain me the most.
Thank you so much Tyler!!! So glad to entertain!!!!

Yes us too
Hi, Just found your channel. I am wondering how your floor adhesive technique is working out?
Doesn't seem to have any issues I did have to put a few screws down before laying the floor. But it made it very minimal.
@@FnAVanLife Cheers! thanks for replying so quickly. I am in the process of doing a van floor and your video really helps.
I like how useful this info is, im planning my build and i had no idea what making a floor would be like. But now i do, thanks guys

When a video STARTS with ALL THE GOOD THINGS ARE HAPPENING...... 🥰😃🥰
Heck yeah. Only good things to come.
considering all the vibration you are going to have in a van, not sure why you didn't use an automotive sealant/adhesive type product like Sikaflex.
You guys are rocking it.
You guys are too sweet!!!! Thank you!!!!
Information with fun and entertainment . Complete package .
Trying to make learning fun! 🤓
I have never had any luck with liquid nail I would not trust that to hold down my floor at all especially with the changing weather in the wood expanding
Heard. For us, it worked really well. 2 years in the van, the floor didn't lift or move. But I understand your point.
2:24. Team work makes the dream work!
Amen to that!!!!

So creative 🌻🚐
It came out perfect 👌🌻
Thank you so much 😊. We are working hard.
What size boards are these
4x8
Rerun? I hope Frank’s back is feeling better!

Like most things, if you start with a good base you have something to build on... BUILD ON !
Hahaha heck yeah. We had to land a few screws but way less then if we didn't glue the floor down.
Love you guys! So much fun😄
Marcy you are so sweet!!!!!
Great job guys.
Thanks John you rock man.
Thank you this helped so much
Thats awesome Nik! So glad to help. Good luck on your build!!! We'll have lots more tips.
Hi guys.. what size is your ply and did you waterproof it also?
We used 1/2 most people use 3/4 and we got the treated plywood.
@@FnAVanLife thank you
You have to use some screw per board your adhering to a painted surface
Agreed we say that in a part of this video but it cuts it down like 2/3s of the screws you would be drilling in.
Damn I should’ve done my van how y’all’s did yours, side to side furring, wool on the floor not just the walls and ceiling (like mine)
Thanks Frank. Ours is built for 4 season 😍

Totally. Yeah it pretty much impossible to create a vapor barrier in a vehicle.
7:24 Random items for wight!! :) .. I saw another video where I guy used as entire Encyclopedia Britannica for weight :)
lol yeah just grab everything we got lmao
No wonky frank !!
Hahaha we had to put some screws in to keep her from being wonky lol
@@FnAVanLife watching ur newest video now 😄
Cool! If we get a van we will certainly take this advice. Well presented video! If you haven't seen my latest, please stop by!
So glad to hear it Kendall!!! Thanks so much for swinging by :)
Welcome!
I feel that withholding whoopee until the build was done, led to Frankie not being at 100%, and such practices should be outlawed. Brofist 🤜
Hahahah thanks lightdark 😅😅😅
Cawk, but that’s glue 😉
Hahahaha you said it 🤣
no hole subfloor Im in
You will have to drill some in but it reduces the amount alot.
@@FnAVanLife yeah it looks like it worked decently. I am going to do some pulling apart tomorrow and see how much I want to tear out.
Not quite what I am after.
No problem
Nubs™️
Gotta start somewhere.
