Music video by Janet Jackson performing Miss You Much. (C) 1990 A&M Records
Remember the extended version? At the part where she says, "Is that the end?!" It was, "NO!" followed by another amazing dance sequence. So good.
I was searching for it. It was a beautiful dance part. Why did they cut that part?
@@stanfordcatcayman1407 I remember feeling like I'd witnessed some kind of a miracle when I'd see the extended version with the chair dance on MTV, they didn't show it very often! We had this album on cassette in my household and I remember the song did cut off after the, "that's the end?" I just did a search for the full Rhythm Nation short film (it's about 30 minutes long); this is the first full song featured (you do hear a bit of "Black Cat" during the initial scenes inside the dance club) and includes the extended dance sequence ("That's the end? NO!").
@@TheInfamousChad wow. I didn't notice this. Thank you for the info ❤
I bought the original extended version where she says "Is that the end?" NO!! Love that version so much!!!
I hate when they delete the chair routine. It's EPIC 😎👍
Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis were the 🐐 of the 80s 💣💥🖤
They the best, LA and Babyface too
Money's 💰🤑💰💰
Janet Jackson is an amazing artist.
the CHOREO!!!!!! MY GOD!
Yes
Yaasss!
Her and Michael looked like fraternal twins back then. Same smile and all.
I think that's one of the reasons they did "Scream", so that people would see them together at the same time instead of apart, saying that it's the same person, lol.
В сравнении с Майклом, она полый НОЛЬ 😢😮😅
@@ТатьянаОруджева-у8о Правда! У нее есть хорошие песни, но она не может сравниться с Майклом. Он в своей собственной категории.
The whole Rhythm Nation album is so iconic. I love Janet Jackson.
2:17 when da beat drop low granny gear go boom
& Yo groove kick up a notch
Not quite a good as Control but still a great album.
@@keythdanielsen9315 Control is great too, but for me, some tracks are too long and not as catchy as the cuts of Rhythm Nation.
@@ศุภณัฐพงษ์ปรีชา That's what's great about differences of opinion. Each is equally as valid.
@@keythdanielsen9315 Thank you for respecting my opinion. I respect your opinion too. Most of the netizens' comments I have read are so disrespectful.
She's the true originator. Michael and Janet owned the musical airwaves in every aspect in those days and times. Genuine authentic God given talent.
♠️♠️
This choreography is everything. Pop stars don't dance like this anymore.
I LOVE the choreo on this!!
@@kennethbrady According to Wikipedia, Janet choreographed this with Anthony Thomas. I believe Paula worked with Janet during the Control era.
@@nickgreatpwrful5754 Ah...okay, thanks for the info:)
No. We don't see stuff like this anymore.
@@nickgreatpwrful5754 Also Terry Bixler, who made up the cut chair routine from this and specialized in a lot of the popping and locking moves off this album's choreography.
No one till this day in the entertainment business can compare to Ms. Jackson. In my humble opinion. She's the Queen.
Facts!!
Not even Madonna neither Janet can dance her booty off
Madonna ces pas dancer @@jasondawson92
@@aconaterLmao. Since Madonna is considered the Queen of Pop by most people I would say that's definitely an opinion. 400 million records sold for Madonna. 100 million for Janet. It's not even close my man. And I think Janet is fantastic but there is only 1 Undisputed Queen of Pop and it's Madonna.
@@jasondawson92🤣🤣🤣 Madonna 400 million records sold. Most ever in music history for a female. And only behind Michael Jackson and Elvis overall. Janet 100 million. I love Janet but the numbers don't lie. Hands down Madonna is the 1 and only Queen of Pop and it's not even close.
Janet, Michael, Prince and Whitney were the reasons I couldn't leave MTV alone in the 80's. Their videos stayed in heavy rotaion respectively.
💯
Richard Salmon lucky you. You got to live through the 80’s
You forgot to mention Paula Abdul!!
Richard Salmon I know what you mean. PRICELESS!!!
soooooo trueeee
Young people do not know what they are missing as far as music goes. Back in the 80s and 90s a new Janet Jackson music video was a huge event on MTV. Music was great back then.
+LilannB yes! i remember staying up late to watch janet on the vma's perform If. i was six and me and my sisters were mad because they kept saying she was coming up before the commercial and then they made her the finale! anyway great memory
+LilannB Thankfully she did this then today all we wold see her do is twerk.
+Xian that's such a precious story
+LilannB indeed! anything by Janet back in the day till now spelled MAGIC!

Janet and Michael are both blessed with the most jaw droppingly beautiful smiles ever!!
true.
Maha bubble I got the samile smile. Look my name up on Facebook plenty of pictures with my smile like Janet....
That's Mrs. Katherine's DNA
0:45 The part where Janet's expression switches is so cool
No one has ever looked this fine
Absolute perfection
Plus the vocals and the dancing and the smile
Beautiful smile and teeth.
almost 30 years later, the choreography looks just as innovative and intricate! So timeless!
Oh lord don't remind me how OLD I am. LOL
Especially the skipping part
Still a jam after 32 years..
The bass line is FIRE!
33 years now.
1990 was the year.A year before I was born
The genius of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis
Yesssssss I seen her live recently and when u she sung this song Omg that bass line her concert insane.
YOUNG BLACK WOMAN IN THE BASEBALL TYPE LEATHER CAP IS A BREATHTAKING DANCER!!!!!💯💯💯
ABSOLUTELY FLAWLESS!!!!💯💯💯
Yes I agree
When I was young I desperately tried to imitate the moves . I never suceeded😂
Oh I did. Now I’m 58 and I would totally hurt something if I tried moving like that! We did have fun then didn’t we!🎉🎉🎉
😅😅
Maybe you didn't, but at least you got your body up & movin', & you probably had a blast doing it, right?
I keep trying! Lol
OMG that smile is amazing

Her smile and hair as she walked in at the start 0:10. I can’t. She’s a goddess. 😍
This song brings me so much joy.
Her hair style, her look, everything was iconic. Rhythm nation era was iconic.
This woman is a legend 🎉
This masterpiece should have much more views! It sad that Legends like her don't get the respect & appreciation they deserve while they're still around

THE Blueprint, period.
The dancing, choreography, costumes and lighting are in a league of of their very own. Totally off the charts. This should be in a museum. Nobody can compare to Janet. Her authentic beauty and essence is unmatched. A virtual masterpiece of video.
It's crazy to think about how talented and successful two siblings could become. Their game was definitely well deserved. As they were two of the hardest working artist in the music industry. Hands down! They were both wonderful but I was always a bigger fan of Janet.
Who wants to get up and dance?

What a massive legend.
Hello how are you doing?
This whole era not winning Album Of The Year in 1991 is a crime!
The dancing in this and Rhythm Nation, you just don't see these days. It's seriously great choreography and dancing that still looks great today.
+Timothy Cole you see A LOT of imitaters and these millennials have no idea how recycled their popular culture is.
+D Lynn I agree. Especially with the Rhythm Nation dancing - has there been anything like that before or since? I don't think so. That's iconic. No wonder so many people are paying tribute to it now.
Light years ahead of its time, this level of dancing has not been seen since.
You can thank former Laker Girl Paula Abdul for the choreography. in this video and others on the album.
@@thebigopu2007 You can thank Tina Landon, Mrs Jackson's main choreographer, for most of her dance moves. Paula Abdul did not choreograph this video: "The video for "Miss You Much" was directed by Dominic Sena and choreographed by Jackson and Anthony Thomas. It was filmed in August 1989 as part of the long-form Rhythm Nation 1814 film."
Janet is the QUEEN and Rhythm Nation era was absolutely the best
Greatest female entertainer of all time .................
No one else compares man. This woman is just “raw” with it!!!
Yes, Janet Ms Jackson is the ultimate blueprint and gate breaker and opener paving the way for all the females to come after her....and yes hives...Beyonce too

Thats awesome ! Janet is queen !
Good job Papa, you doing it right! 👏👏👏

Omg!!! So awesome
The director of this video said Janet was OBSESSED making this video RIGHT.
They did close to 100 takes altogether when tallied up.
Every time everyone thought they did the PERFECT take, Janet would turn around and ask, "Gee, do you think maybe we could do just one more ?"
All the dancers worked tirelessly with Janet.
When you think about the crappy videos put out today.
The decision at the time to film the entire Rhythm Nation video in black and white was spot-on.
There's a classic iconic look here that jumps off the screen.
A Classic !
The technical aspects of the video are FLAWLESS. The direction, staging, editing, camera work. Everything 😭😭
Give Janet ALL HER FLOWERS! That dance sequence!!
I love how she went from smiling to serious when that beat dropped
Ella Cobb Me too😊😊😊
She is a Diva fa sho.

Facts!!!
Janet leaves Beyonce in the dust. this video alone. The charisma, the song, the dancing. And it is seems so natural and not forced.
Notice you were compelled to mention Beyoncé on a song that has nothing to do with her …that’s true power

That's extraordinary!
4 weeks, a travesty to what coulda been
@@eatyourcereal4134 4 weeks is excellent in 1989. That's the longest running #1 on the Hot 100 in that particular year.

@@electrictroy2010 Cassettes were cheaper in 89 than CDs in the 90s. I was there.
Her dance moves are just amazing. It's masterpiece!!
In my opinion, with "social media" dominating modern life, it's disappointing to see how "dancing" has, UNFORTUNATELY, become a "lost or forgotten piece of art."
The Jackson Family is the most talented family in the world.

Agreed! She is alot better than what we are stuck with now.
She is..
I always say "Miss You Much" is like Janet's "Beat It" and "Rhythm Nation" is her "Thriller". Like she's had so many other hits, but these 2 tracks just hit spot on as great tracks with even greater choreography
It's like they doing the Irish dance. This is her best song to date. The beat, the hook and the video
THE RHYTHM NATION ALBUM was so Iconic it was inducted into The National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress. Janet Jackson is Legendary !
Rhythm Nation is seriously underrated and deserves more.
She is AMAZING!!
This album came out a lifetime ago and still kills.
for real, gloriously
SHE'S the definition of Pop star ⭐
The synchronization of the choreography in her videos during that time was damn near flawless.
Janet you are the queen❤
Nothing like these vibes anymore but life has most definitely changed
Janet just GLOWS on every video. Proving that you can be fully clothed and absolutely breathtakingly beautiful 😍

@@gregcampbell1263 Why bring color into it?. Perhaps the only other female contender for queen of pop is Madonna, I personally like Janet a bit more though.
Janet will forever be a Legend & Icon. Shes the Queen of R&B/Pop. Whenever people ask, Who's the Queen of R&B? That's, Janet Jackson imo. She changed R&B and Pop music.
This song was number-one on the charts when I was born!

Automatically one focuses on JANET because she’s the main attraction but I’ve noticed in certain videos like this one that the dancers are actually better dancers than Janet.

Her choreography is very sharp
This still crushes is. Back in the day, everyone was all about Rhythm Nation - but for me this jam, the funk, the choreography just CRUSHED the others & still does!
Damn, Janet's dancing still looks perfectly modern even more than 35 years later. She really is so talented both as a singer and dancer, just like her brother Michael was. Whenever I see Janet dancing I can't look away. She just looks like she's having so much fun and it just looks perfectly natural, like she's in her element (and her songs are equally fantastic). You go girl!
