The Churchill Mk VII is by far my favorite tank in the game. Leisurely roll your way up to the battlefield and sip a cup of tea as the enemy succeeds in pinging shells off the old Mk 1 armor. Bloody brilliant tank that is.
Its awful, its only good for downtiers and even there it struggles. Absolutely no firepower, T-34-76 at 3.3 is already fairly impervious to Churchill gun, its inaccurate, low velocity and no APHE ro boot.
Sure it's a good video but either you're overreacting to get a heart/pin or you have seen like, three videos for this to be one of the best you've ever seen.

I think you really undersold the Avenger. Imo it's the best British tank at Rank 3. The APCBC is so much more effective than APDS, especially at shorter ranges where aiming is less of an issue. It's BR also means you can make a better lineup with the Church7 and the Firefly. The Comet stands alone at 5.0.
The Brithish 4.7 lineup is by far my favorite lineup in the game. Also I think its the best 4.7 Lineup in the game. The Avenger is such a blast to play. The gun and its speed just makes for a amazing playstyle. Its easely my favorite tank in the game. You will have tonns of fun in the Churchill mopping up KV 1s. And there are nit many feelings better then runnig beserk iwith it in a full downtier. I remember a game in it in wich i took over 100 cannon shells! The Firefly is a very nice backup to the Avenger. For me it was the first Sherman that i did like. Generaly speaking, every thank with a 17pdr on ithas a special place in my heart. Its just so emensly strong. Again, tier for tier overall probably the best gun you get. I truly do recomend this lineup to everybody. You will never again have this much fun in War Thunder.
I have a lot of fun with Challenger, it's good medium tank. Crusader AA is quite good too, but I don't even have it, when I shoot it with APHE from the side, it doesn't detonate and goes straight through. I love Firefly Mk 5, it is really good in mixed battles
Indeed. when i first play brits, i straightly jumped comet and play challenger instead. I think it's very underappreciated tank and i have to disagree when he thinks chally can't be versatile. Spaded and it's basically really good in maneuvering and nice 30 smoke grenade projector.
Quite honestly... I'd get the cromwells , the Avenger , the Challenger , the Comet , the Charioteer , etc. Just because of the beautiful christy/christie suspension...
oxy, first off: really appreciate and enjoy your WT content. Thank you for doing all the hard work for us drones who'd much rather play the game as dullards rather than get ourselves bogged down in all the maths stuffs :P Second: I'm currently a member of your in-game squadron and had a question. Have you put any thought into having structured "events" for the squad members to take part in? i was thinking maybe it would help some of the more "recluse" members get a bit more out of their shell by having regularly scheduled matches/custom battles they can rely on being available. Now i know we have a discord where anyone can squad up with other members, not to mention the in-game chat as always. But i'm sure everyone's aware it's nearly impossible to get someone to respond to your requests for squad in-game :P
Note for the Firefly mk5, it has great guns (4X Hispano mk 5's which are the same as most British jets use) and a fantastic first turn rate with it's flaps. I've caught many fighters out with it, either because they went for a head on or didn't expect the first turn.

I considered the challenger, been working great! Only tank I’ve been getting 4+ kills in so far for Britain. Sure it’s tall and can’t reverse worth a piss. But that gun 🥴 been clapping those tigers and panthers like a champ

I like Churchill MK7 Cuzz of Darjeeling, and i only play british PURELY and ONLY grinded PURELY for the Sherman Firefly … i just like how it is, and it’s history! Im also grinding for the Centurion Mark 1 and the Tortoise and FV4005 (i don’t care if they are NOT viable, they just wreck whatever they touch, and plus having somthing that can show germans and Soviet’s the Might of the Bri’ish fist is just delighful)
You undersold the Challenger. Its first visible advantage is the Sabot shots that it can use which is just so so much better than Comet. Also Comet suspension bounces alot when it stops so its unreliable for snapshots but Challenger is less bouncy. Also the Challenger turret is so big and spacious that unless u got shot in dead center , the german 88 mm cannon APHE cannot kill all of your turret crew in 1 shot. If that happens just pop smoke and run away to repair.
Your description on the Sabot round is somewhat accurate, but you forgot this. "The Sabot round is not a bore round, it has a casing around it that disintegrates after the round is fired."
I got the iron duke in the event and because I nether have many planes nor tanks so I am useing the Hampden as CAS. 4 1000lbs bombs that drop individualy? Hell yeah!
The Wyvern is an EXCELLENT choice! even for the hefty price tag. Works wonders in Air RB and Ground RB. its high speed at low altitude means you can out run almost anything outside of a diving P-47 or 109. Yes you are right about swooping in dropping the bombs, grabbing a few kills, and running back to base to rearm quickly. However if you catch an enemy fighter out of position or focusing an ally, the 4 20mm cannons can make short work of any aircraft and it carries 1200 rounds to let to rounds fly at will. In Air RB it can get to the bases faster than even a diving bomber in most cases even when needing to take off from the airstrip giving you easy Research Points and Lions. It can even get back to base fairly safely as long as a climbing fighter doesn't come down after you but if you can dodge it once it will kill their airspeed and you can accelerate MUCH faster than they can at low altitude allowing you to just pull away from their firing range and making it back to base quickly. Just NEVER dogfight. Boom and Zoom only! Makes grinding through the air tree from ranks 3 - 5 a snap! I've earned up to 50,000 Research in one match alone in this thing! with only a 15% booster on at the time.
I love running the Comet 1 and Challenger A30. I use the Comet as a team pushing and holdout vehicle and i use my Challenger as a fast reacting sniper thanks to the extra power if its cannon.
An important note for the Churchill Mk. III. The turret armor is thicker on one side than the other. The right side of the turret has a thickness of 89.9mm and the left side of the turret is 76.2mm. It's not addon armor, it's just that thick.

If I'm not mistaken. The comet does a 17pdr, they just named it a 77mm to avoid ammo confusion. The breach isn't as big or strong as the 17pdr. Hence the reason the normal AP rounds don't penetrate as much, due to lower chamber pressures
One thing to add about the Comet's sabot shell. It's got a very high velocity and flat trajectory making it fantastic for hitting moving targets even at range. Great video though!
I got the Iron Duke from the market when it was still 11 GJN, then I matched it with the AC.IV and Hellcat Mk. II when they went on sale! I had an all-premium lineup until I added the Challenger recently (which I love). Now to finish grinding to British 6.7
I do think Oxy got the cent and challenger wrong. I ended up having so much fun with both after getting them, the 17pdp apds still is very deadly around 6.0, and the armour on both can come in at the most unexpected saves. Theres a 25mm "neckbrace" on the challenger, and it can actually stop panther shells if youre lucky, and the side turret plates can absorb or bounce any 75mm sherman shell fired at you

I absolutely hate that the Italian captured Firefly gets 17pdr APDS while the actual British version STILL doesn't. The first British tank to get it is the Cent Mk1 and it's a British gun and ammo ffs.
sadly another issue I'm finding is that you get up tiered more often then I'd like so you're fighting the heavier lads like the Panther D and Tiger H1 so the flrefly become harder to play as
Wether you want to or not youll probably have to Get It since you need to pass a vehicle to get the next one and need 5 vehicles bought to pass on to the next tier. So really its more like the british tech tree. GET IT. Great vid tho.
Comet gets one shotted by absolute;y everything it comes across regardless of position. Incredibly rare to bounce any shots in it. The gun also rarely one shots anything, so your only chance is to specific target parts of the enemy tank in order to first disable it, in order for you to then hit it 10 times or more to actually kill it.
Great video Oxy, but any chance of an update on this? Would you change any of the lineups because I'm currently up to about this level and I'm not sure if it's all still accurate 2 years on!
I have to say, I would choose the American 76 Sherman against the firefly. Main difference is somewhat in the armor, engine and gun. The 76 Sherman’s have a stabilizer
Everything you say is right on. I only play British and just finished rank III. Overall enjoyed all the vehicles. Firefly is great sniper with good survivability when upgraded but horribly sluggish when stock. I did terribly with Churchill III but Churchill VII is a beast. I drive around and bully enemy tanks even when my gun is out. I actually haven’t played the Comet I’m weird and went for the Challenger because I don’t see many people play it. Achilles was a decent tank I continued using even in 5.0+ battles with its trusty 17pdr. Avenger is good sniper with good gun depression, low silhouette, and good top speed. I find it best if I hull down sideways on a hill so I can shoot and scoot because reverse is non existent. Crusader AA I’m just terrible at shooting enemy aircraft down with its 20mm guns. I use it for capturing points and destroying light vehicles.
The Firefly is a kind of tank that should not be played like a medium, but rather as an SPG or tank destroyer. Mobility is decent if you choose to not use addon armor.
The 4.7-5.3 lineups are most of the time fighting at 5.7 with our 5.7 regularly fighting at 6.7. I take, Iron Duke, Wyvern, AC4, Centurion Mk I, Comet, Spitfire LF Mk IX, cromwell I, Crusader AA Mk II, and if i get sick of the uptiers to 6.7 i replace my 5.7 Spit with a 5.3 seafire, and my Cent Mk1 with my daimler/tetrarch. Id definitely recommend picking up the AC4 if your playing anything around 5.0-5.7. The reverse gear is phenomenal at times where the comets would die. Should not be 5.3 though, 5.0 or even 4.7 since its pretty much a less armoured, more maneuverable firefly. The challenger in my opinion is just to big and bulky and too much of a target. For 1 challenger id bring 2 comets. The cromwell I is still viable at this BR as a '''scout''' tank that is capable of shooting tigers/panthers in the ammo and is a good way of getting assists if you go for the engines.
Because of 17 pdr it's possible to mix all those tanks in one lineup 5.3. I usually use ac4, iron duke, challenger and scorpion for ultimate grinding performance . Gl.
Oxy, I'd really like to get your thoughts on the Jagdpanther. It's one of my favorite vehicles and while not great necessarily in a head on fight it can really shine in certain situations.
To me the challenger is just a point and click adventure game because it’s apds can go through anything. I just use it to relax and not deal with Panthers
Back then, I liked the Sherman Firefly Vc's mobility way better! It has a better top speed and lower weight with extra armor. I can get into position way faster and more aggesively or effectively then the updated version. The drawback was it's gun has less pen. back then, but I was killing it with the Firefly with Ace crew and have an very good K/D ratio. Right now, it suck... it act more like the Churchchill's mobility with less armor & with the better gun. I'm gonna miss how aggressively and good I played the Sherman Firefly Vc. R.I.P.

Okay Oxy i know thisd is old video but the A34 comet odes use the 17 pounder it is a 76.8mm version still designated as the 17 pounder was modified to fire said discording sabot rounds
Honestly I love the challenger and the ac4 the British 5.3 are really good and deleting germans I've found and as long as you are in a 5.3 match you can really bring the pain and Briton 6.7 is the most fun you can have in my opinion.
I'm surprised you didn't praise Avenger for gun stability. Bacuse of long hull, the gun wobbles very little, and stabibizes quickly when stopping in contrast to comet with shorter hull, that wobbles a lot.
Churchill mk3 is actually pretty good in some map and if you angle well even pnzer4 can pen you and if possible play with friends it will be more effective beacuse you have support
IMO the 17 pdr is better than the american 76mm exactly because of great angled pen. Increased flat pen is just cherry on top. While damage is worse, it still comes close and they also have fast reload times too.
Note on sabot. Only use against flat or un-angled armor. ((not claiming to be godlike I just have experience)) I have many battle with the m41 bulldog and its sabot is rough. Even slight angle at range will negate any possible pen the shell has. I've fought many tigers where the shell magnetized to their hull view ports and those absorbed the shells entirely
Having faced the tiger in just about anything but French and Italian tanks, I'd like to say that that viewport will eat just about anything and ask for more. Even Russian 122 shells will bounce off. Don't blame the sabot, it's not it's fault.
@@Crayssius it shouldn't and sabot should pass through. What I'm saying is that everytime I fire at a lower part of the turret or in the middle of the hull my shells magnetize to the viewports

Not really the focus of this video, but I LOVE the Wyvern. I'm terrible and ground attacking so it's a gamble whether I actually kill any tanks with the bombs/rockets, but I can usually dominate the skies with it after dropping the bombs and rockets. I normally fly this fastboi like I would a US fighter and generally come out on top as more often than not folks in aircraft in ground RB aren't the greatest pilots T B H. And then in air RB it still performs well due to not too many things being able to catch it and also the breddy good bombload makes for good RP grinding if you get certain maps. Definitely worth if you have any remote interest in the aircraft side of the game.
Oxy: This tank is absolutely and utterly useless, it will give you mental breakdowns and drive you insane.
Verdict: GET IT!

0:50 878 horsepower on the American 4.7 Sherman is the arcade statistics. It should be identical to the Sherman fireflies engine output.
They have different engines, the multibank on the firefly is 5 car engines stuck together instead of 1 military grade engine.

It's amazing. The amount of times if been peeking a ridge and enemy shell go straight through the blinds causing no damage is hilarious.

That lineup is my “SL go brrrrr,” especially with the premiums (firefly, Achilles, typhoon, p47, wyvern at least)
A.C.IV is a god-tier tank. I used it as backup even at 6.7 (before i got full setup).

I just enjoy someone knowing how to use the words "similarly" and "flanks" instead of "similar" and "flank".

I got the Iron Duke from the market when it was still 11 GJN, then I matched it with the AC.IV and Hellcat Mk. II when they went on sale! I had an all-premium lineup until I added the Challenger recently (which I love). Now to finish grinding to British 6.7
Churchill Mk VII is a T95 with a turret and a bad gun. Love that tank
I do think Oxy got the cent and challenger wrong. I ended up having so much fun with both after getting them, the 17pdp apds still is very deadly around 6.0, and the armour on both can come in at the most unexpected saves. Theres a 25mm "neckbrace" on the challenger, and it can actually stop panther shells if youre lucky, and the side turret plates can absorb or bounce any 75mm sherman shell fired at you

Also the Crusader AA MKii has double the amount of ammo (1200 rounds)than the AC AA which is good because I always run out fast with the AC AA.

Currently running Challenger, Iron duke and Avenger with the SeaFire FR47 as CAS/air superiority which is massively underrated.
I absolutely hate that the Italian captured Firefly gets 17pdr APDS while the actual British version STILL doesn't. The first British tank to get it is the Cent Mk1 and it's a British gun and ammo ffs.
sadly another issue I'm finding is that you get up tiered more often then I'd like so you're fighting the heavier lads like the Panther D and Tiger H1 so the flrefly become harder to play as

Wether you want to or not youll probably have to Get It since you need to pass a vehicle to get the next one and need 5 vehicles bought to pass on to the next tier. So really its more like the british tech tree. GET IT. Great vid tho.
Mk 7 is probably my favorite tank in the game. It's so dumb
Comet gets one shotted by absolute;y everything it comes across regardless of position. Incredibly rare to bounce any shots in it. The gun also rarely one shots anything, so your only chance is to specific target parts of the enemy tank in order to first disable it, in order for you to then hit it 10 times or more to actually kill it.
Also, I love the crusader AA.. it is the best counter to all the best armour is no armour magic vehicles, and often bests them one on one.
Great video Oxy, but any chance of an update on this? Would you change any of the lineups because I'm currently up to about this level and I'm not sure if it's all still accurate 2 years on!
I have to say, I would choose the American 76 Sherman against the firefly. Main difference is somewhat in the armor, engine and gun. The 76 Sherman’s have a stabilizer
Everything you say is right on. I only play British and just finished rank III. Overall enjoyed all the vehicles. Firefly is great sniper with good survivability when upgraded but horribly sluggish when stock. I did terribly with Churchill III but Churchill VII is a beast. I drive around and bully enemy tanks even when my gun is out. I actually haven’t played the Comet I’m weird and went for the Challenger because I don’t see many people play it. Achilles was a decent tank I continued using even in 5.0+ battles with its trusty 17pdr. Avenger is good sniper with good gun depression, low silhouette, and good top speed. I find it best if I hull down sideways on a hill so I can shoot and scoot because reverse is non existent. Crusader AA I’m just terrible at shooting enemy aircraft down with its 20mm guns. I use it for capturing points and destroying light vehicles.
The Firefly is a kind of tank that should not be played like a medium, but rather as an SPG or tank destroyer. Mobility is decent if you choose to not use addon armor.
The 4.7-5.3 lineups are most of the time fighting at 5.7 with our 5.7 regularly fighting at 6.7.
I take, Iron Duke, Wyvern, AC4, Centurion Mk I, Comet, Spitfire LF Mk IX, cromwell I, Crusader AA Mk II, and if i get sick of the uptiers to 6.7 i replace my 5.7 Spit with a 5.3 seafire, and my Cent Mk1 with my daimler/tetrarch.
Id definitely recommend picking up the AC4 if your playing anything around 5.0-5.7. The reverse gear is phenomenal at times where the comets would die. Should not be 5.3 though, 5.0 or even 4.7 since its pretty much a less armoured, more maneuverable firefly.
The challenger in my opinion is just to big and bulky and too much of a target. For 1 challenger id bring 2 comets.
The cromwell I is still viable at this BR as a '''scout''' tank that is capable of shooting tigers/panthers in the ammo and is a good way of getting assists if you go for the engines.
Did you know the Churchills had extra Vicker machine guns built inside of the tank
but in wt don't show except the sides with the small circle hatch
The Mk. IIV is a silver lions generator and you can just use the armour to bounce rounds until you can afford a plane
Because of 17 pdr it's possible to mix all those tanks in one lineup 5.3. I usually use ac4, iron duke, challenger and scorpion for ultimate grinding performance . Gl.
Oxy, I'd really like to get your thoughts on the Jagdpanther. It's one of my favorite vehicles and while not great necessarily in a head on fight it can really shine in certain situations.

The crusader AA mk. 2 also has much more ammo than the Ac AA which is quite important since the AC runns out pretty quickly from my experience
To me the challenger is just a point and click adventure game because it’s apds can go through anything. I just use it to relax and not deal with Panthers

Back then, I liked the Sherman Firefly Vc's mobility way better! It has a better top speed and lower weight with extra armor. I can get into position way faster and more aggesively or effectively then the updated version. The drawback was it's gun has less pen. back then, but I was killing it with the Firefly with Ace crew and have an very good K/D ratio. Right now, it suck... it act more like the Churchchill's mobility with less armor & with the better gun. I'm gonna miss how aggressively and good I played the Sherman Firefly Vc. R.I.P.

Okay Oxy i know thisd is old video but the A34 comet odes use the 17 pounder it is a 76.8mm version still designated as the 17 pounder was modified to fire said discording sabot rounds

Honestly I love the challenger and the ac4 the British 5.3 are really good and deleting germans I've found and as long as you are in a 5.3 match you can really bring the pain and Briton 6.7 is the most fun you can have in my opinion.
Chlanger - tall tower.. it's actually pretty low, after playing with FV4005.
I'm surprised you didn't praise Avenger for gun stability. Bacuse of long hull, the gun wobbles very little, and stabibizes quickly when stopping in contrast to comet with shorter hull, that wobbles a lot.
The comet did historically use the 17pdr it was just a modified variant of the gun

Churchill mk3 is actually pretty good in some map and if you angle well even pnzer4 can pen you and if possible play with friends it will be more effective beacuse you have support
IMO the 17 pdr is better than the american 76mm exactly because of great angled pen. Increased flat pen is just cherry on top. While damage is worse, it still comes close and they also have fast reload times too.

Note on sabot. Only use against flat or un-angled armor. ((not claiming to be godlike I just have experience)) I have many battle with the m41 bulldog and its sabot is rough. Even slight angle at range will negate any possible pen the shell has. I've fought many tigers where the shell magnetized to their hull view ports and those absorbed the shells entirely
Having faced the tiger in just about anything but French and Italian tanks, I'd like to say that that viewport will eat just about anything and ask for more. Even Russian 122 shells will bounce off. Don't blame the sabot, it's not it's fault.
@@Crayssius bruh imma have to ask you to stop. Those viewports are 80mm thick and the m42 sabot can pen (at 10 m) 232mm of armor.

Not really the focus of this video, but I LOVE the Wyvern. I'm terrible and ground attacking so it's a gamble whether I actually kill any tanks with the bombs/rockets, but I can usually dominate the skies with it after dropping the bombs and rockets. I normally fly this fastboi like I would a US fighter and generally come out on top as more often than not folks in aircraft in ground RB aren't the greatest pilots T B H. And then in air RB it still performs well due to not too many things being able to catch it and also the breddy good bombload makes for good RP grinding if you get certain maps.
Definitely worth if you have any remote interest in the aircraft side of the game.
i’ve bounced a lot of panther shells off the front plate of the A.C.IV
65th anti-tank regiment, Royal Artillery. The British didn't use Tank Destroyers.
