For those who'd like a short-ish summary of the AU, i'll write one here.
Patchkit is missing when Mapleshade crosses the river, so he lives. He wanders into Riverclan, where Reedshine fosters him. Riverclan doesnt trust him at first, taunting him for what his mother did. Everyone except Reedshine and her kits. Patchkit is haunted by Mapleshade, obviously feeling a bit nervous about it. After the deputy dies of greencough, Reedshine is made the new deputy (Her kits are apprentices now). The clan have finally accepted Patchpaw by this point. He gets his warrior name, Patchshine, as he requested to be named after Reedshine. That night, sleeping in the warriors den, he wakes up in the Dark Forest, where he cofronts Mapleshade. (Timeskip). During a battle with some dogs, Patchshine gets badly injured, and Reedshine gets killed. Patchshine is heartbroken, but gets appointed as the deputy by Darkstar. (Timeskip). After Darkstars death, he goes to get his nine lives, getting one of them from Reedshine. He cries into her fur, telling her how much he misses her. Once he's recieved his lives, he returns to Riverclan, now Patchstar.

I just realized; not only did Patchkit ask to be named after Reedshine, but shine and shade are opposites. MapleSHADE and PatchSHINE, representing that Patchshine was good, and Mapleshade was bad.

May i just say how amazing Reedshine is here??
She immediately takes in a sick, tired kit, only to find out he's the result of an affair between her mate and a cat from another clan, who also tried to murder her and sucessfully killed her mate. And what does she do? She raises him as her own, and defends him from her clanmates.

AlphaAreus mhmm! Appledusk was horrible but reedshine, bless her heart, only forgave him for cheating since she wanted her kits to have a father! And then in this au she takes in the kit of the one who killed her mate 🥺💕 you know even though this ship could never happen if they had ever met each other I think Thrushpelt and reedshine would have been perfect for each other!!! They’re both so sweet and kind it’s like they’re meant for each other 🥺

I've always hated Reedshine and I always will. I've always felt horrible for Mapleshade, because she didn't deserve what happened to her. But this is just my own opinion.
@@edgyteen8206 Can I express my own opinion? (No hate towards you, and other Mapleshade fans). I think Mapleshade actually treated everyone too harshly? I mean, why kill 2 cats instead of your "ex boyfriend" lets say. I dont understand why people get so much hype about her. I mean I know appledusk is bad, but why reedshine? Reedshine wasnt even that much involved in this, she was just innocent. She didnt knew who waited her in the shadow. A "maybe happy" relationship with appledusk or a tragic story?
Audie is your waifu change my mind alright lemme try to explain, she tried to go after reedshine because she believed appledusk belonged to her and she saw reedshine as a threat to their relationship. And for frecklewish and ravenwing she shifted the blame of her kits dying to them because ravenwing is the one that got her exiled while frecklewish watched her kits drown or so Mapleshade’s vengeance says. Not really sure if this answers your question but I hope it does!
I always liked to imagine one of Mapleshade’s kits got reincarnated, or even escaped behind RiverClan’s back.
Jaelyyy Mar this is maple shades kit- it managed to escape the wave and the others survived they just never mentioned it in the book you can tell this is maple shades kit because of the markings and colorings and how he/she acts when she/he gets older (I mean he don’t turn evil he just gets angry for some reason)

Also imagine
- Reedshine protecting Patchpaw from Oakstar during his first gathering (cause we know, that Oak would say something nasty)
- Patchshine sleeping close to Reedshine in Warrior's den, cause he loves his mom
- Patchstar receiving two of his nine lives from Petalkit and Larchkit, who say that they are most happy that their brother got to live a good life and even become a leader
- Patchstar also getting a life from Appledusk, who says that he is sorry for everything that happened to him and his siblings and for not being present in his life and that he cannot be more proud.
- Patchstar, if he ever gets a mate, calling one of his kits Reedkit
- Him being a wonderful uncle to his half-siblings' kits
- Patchstar protecting his father's descendants from his mother. When Mapleshade tries to manipulate Crookedkit, he confronts his mother again and tells her to stay away. He becomes a spiritual guide, as well as a comforting friend, to Crookedkit instead.
- Patchstar still playing with his kit-siblings in Starclan to make it up for their missed time together
- Patchstar and Mapleshade having a final confrontation during the battle with Dark Forest. Both having given up on each other completely moons ago - she sees him as a traitor and no longer her kit and he sees her as a monster and no longer his mother. Reedshine has been his mother for a long time.
Really good ideas I hope someone writes a Fanfiction about it

@@Cottagecat2368 We can't really know that, as we know next to nothing of his acomplishments in this AU. He could be forgotten or he could leave a great trace after himself and still be remembered - a matter of headcanons.
I really enjoyed this. I really like reedshine. And it was nice to see something where people don't automatically condemn her as a bad cat because she wasn't super buddy buddy with mapleshade, and because appledusk chose reedshine over her. All together I feel like this added some much needed character depth to some of these characters.
I give this map 10/10 reedshines
Reedshine wasn’t exactly evil, just a cold diva, moreover. She didn’t have a right to be so harsh to Mapleshade after such a recent, devastating loss, but she wasn’t in the wrong for being defensive over Appledusk. She-cats in the series seem to have a lot of beef with each other when it comes to mates lol

Honestly before I just kind of saw Reedshine as like the girl who sees her boyfriend cheat, then blames the other girl for it, but this MAP makes her so much more than that. I think she saw Appledusk through rose colored glasses but once Patchkit came along and Appledusk was dead she "opened" her eyes and saw Appledusk as the manipulative cat the he was. She could never completely forgive the she cat who took her kits father away from them but I think she did feel some kind of sympathy for Mapleshade.

Huge agree! But at the same time I feel like Snowfall is right as well. I feel like Patchshine pushed her away as well, tbh.
I love this au, the scene when patch and maple circled eachother really showed off their similar designs. I never really like Reedshine, but I think that's mostly because her loyalty to Appledusk enabled him to not receive consequences for his actions. I like the idea that she sees patchkit for what Thunderclan was blinded to: an innocent child caught up in their mother's lies.
I mean, unlike Mapleshade, he didn’t make excuses. When the truth became unavoidable, he told Riverclan himself and begged for forgiveness. Plus, since this is Mapleshade’s perspective, we don’t know what else RC did to him after

This turned out *BEYOND* AMAZING!!! Everyone here is so incredibly talented!!! I can't even process how stunning this turned out. The raw emotions oh my-
What a creative and fun AU! Patchkit is my favorite out of Mapleshade's kits, and seeing him get a happy life warms my heart. Also, Reedshine is best mom. I personally feel that if one or more of Mapleshade's kits had lived, she would have taken them under her wing and have not judged them or treated them poorly because of what their mother did.

@@sublithium people seem to forget that Ravenwing was a young, inexperienced medicine cat (Mapleshade’s words) that only just taken over as head medicine cat. He received a sign and interpreted it the best he could. He made a mistake
@@jackisbored2608 frecklewish I think absolutely feels bad. She didn't go out of her way to kill those kits, she was hurt she finally had a glint of hope that her brother would live on and she felt hurt and betrayed all over again, opening that wound.
I LOVE all of these. But excuse me if its obvious, i forget who spiketail is. Maybe Mapleshades mentor, Blossomheart would be a better fit.

This is super cool! My head-cannon/AU was that Patchkit asked to live with his mother, not understanding all the terrible things she had done, and grew up with her in the Dark Forest. As he grew up, he began to realize how evil she was. Then when the time came to destroy the Clans, Patchkit finally went against his mother's word, and helped StarClan.

Almost forgot about this gem but now 2 years later I just realized how heartbreaking this map is
Reed shine taking in in a kit that’s the result of her lovers secret affair after he is killed by the other woman
Maple shade who now has to watch her only surving child and love be raised by the woman her mate cheated on her with and then him cutting ties with her. The realization that there was a chance for her to still live happily and raise a kit must’ve been tuff too
Patchshine who lost both his mother dealing with discrimination from both clans like just damn and let’s not forget abt how his siblings were practically replaced within a moon. His existence was scorned from both clans and he was blamed for his mothers actions like he just simply exists and it’s Not accepted. To make it worse he was just a little kids who knew nothing and quite literally just returned from almost dying
This family tree just can’t catch a break 😭
I really like this map because it puts Patch is a safer situation, he and his siblings were always In danger, their mother was a manipulative cat who was planning to use them to solidify her relationship with Appledusk, and sure she showed grief when her kits Died but she was still planning on using them. This au puts Patch in a safer place with his adoptive mother and half siblings where he would probably be so much happier, and I would think that the cats Mapleshade killed would be watching him, sorry for what they caused to his siblings by accident and making sure he didn't become like his mother, not like he would need them with Reedshine and his half siblings.

Redshine being a good adoptive mother gives me years of life
I hate when people try to justify what Mapleshade did, and I think that this AU would’ve worked perfectly, as reedshine was a good person but nobody realizes that.
She was incredibly harsh.

If I’m being honest I used to avoid this map because I thought it was just another: “character who dies early or had no personality in the books goes to the dark forest and becomes evil” au. But for real, wow, this is just beautiful

I'm so happy to see something like this! And finally a MAP AU that doesn't make the character suddenly evil! Watching Patchkit grow up and live his life to leadership along with his adopted mother Reedshine?? It was something I didn't know I needed until I saw it.
And having Mapleshade throughout his life too? Haunting him for something out of his control?? It's so good! Despite Mapleshade's presence and his history of where he came from, he still made a good life with his clan and his family. He stayed true to himself and I'm LIVING FOR IT

This is so great! I love this so much! The animation is great and everyone did an awesome job! I think it is pretty cool how “Patch Kit” is also being raised by a good mom and his half siblings.
I love the idea of the Dark Forest being overrun by snails, which is why it’s a swamp of snail slime
Edit: While rewatching the map, I noticed a snail next to Patchshine the night of his visit to the Dark Forest. I just had a brilliant idea. Dark Forest cats can only visit someone’s dreams if they place a snail in their nest. Beautiful.

Before I found out what Patchkit's design actually was, i had an au where he was found by Sandgorse and taken back to camp to Palebird, naming him Tallkit. But Palebird never wanted the little kit instead of her stillborn daughter Finchkit, and that was why she was absent and mean. But then i found that Patchkit looked like Mapleshade, and that my theroy couldn't work lol

I have watched this at least 6 times. Literally. This is so unique and amazing! The animators all did suxh an amazing job and props to the hoster for putting it all together so smoothly!

I found this AU about 3 months ago now, and it’s still my favourite warriors MAP that i have come across. It’s just so emotional, and it’s made me appreciate Mapleshade’s story so much more
