Two days ago, I fully charged my New Kindle Scribe, expecting its renowned battery performance to be on par with my beloved Paperwhite. However, after reading a book for an hour and utilizing the notebook feature for a similar duration, the battery level has already depleted to 80%. This significant drop has left me wondering whether such consumption is normal for this device. Having been accustomed to the impressive battery retention of Paperwhite, I would like to hear your feedback on the matter. Thank you!
Paperwhite not great either. I read a few hours at medium light power and it goes down 10-15%
Still stuck between oasis and paperwhite but I feel like most people are happy with whichever one they end up getting anyways. I like the look/screen size of the paperwhite but i just loveeeeee the button feature/ergonomics on the oasis. Maybe I'll just go for the better deal on prime day :)
Definitely check on prime days! Right now there’s a pretty great bundle deal on the oasis that’s a good one to keep an eye on too!
Which did you end up going with? I’m in the same predicament as you, I do have the 2021 model but 2022 release (16gb) Paperwhite only because the Oasis is so outdated 😢 it was released in 2019 and for the usual Kindle timeline it should have already been upgraded but I’m worried that they’re phasing it out like they did with other higher end Kindles in the past 😢 I really hope that’s not what they’re doing though, I am just guessing in that direction as they increased the PW screen to practically the same size as the Oasis; so I’m thinking they’re either upgrading it to be bigger OR they’re phasing it out. I really hope they don’t as I NEED a Kindle with page turn buttons.
@@Nikkilodean19 I really really love that the oasis had the buttons...but I ultimately decided to get the paperwhite! Physical books still have my heart so my kindle is going to be secondary so the oasis price just did not feel justifiable. Prime day deal for oasis was pretty good but i just chose the more affordable. I think the oasis will stay for a while but just no upgrades to it :/ i will say tho..i have bad wrist/arm issues and even with a popsocket lol the PW still causes me a bit of pain...soooooo maybe i should have bought the oasis? I' KNOW I'M NOT REALLY HELPING YOU WITH A CHOICE IM SORRY!

i love the paperwhite but the oasis is such a nice design for left handed people. the old kindles had buttons on both sides. i hope they update it soon and don't retire it
Oh how has it benefited you and what are the disadvantages of the previous kindle models for left handed people?
@@aleahkhan244 I’m not left-handed and I know this is four months later, but I think an oasis would be helpful for lefties because you can put the page turn control buttons on the left side of the device (shown at 8:13 in the video), which would allow it to be held in their dominant hand. If you hold a touchscreen kindle like the paperwhite, the area that you tap to progress forward is on the right - so it’s harder to reach with the left hand. The voyage was nice for lefties too because it had “buttons” on both the left and right bezels, which would also allow it to be held more easily in the left hand.
i still use my 5th gen kindle from 2012, and it works perfectly! i only wanna upgrade to a basic or paperwhite to have a backlit screen, but i know i’ll miss the page turning buttons a lot 🥲
I love my Kindle Paperwhite! It's my absolute favorite Kindle so far! It's also one of my favorite pieces of technology! I think the waterproof and warm light features are really worth the money (at least for me). I like to travel and read before bed.

I must have got my white Kindle just before they were ended.
Their longevity is limited to their battery lifespan. And since Amazon, while virtue signaling about sustainability, actually doesn’t care, has made the batteries non-replaceable (not even by Amazon). The best bet might be to get the cheapest option…

I love my kobo libra .. but I want something larger. Something that has the screen size that's roughly as large as a full sized hardcover. Also, this is the laziest thing you'll ever hear but I wish they came with a remote of some kind. I've found some remote page turners for ereaders and I'm planning on buying one. So I can have my ereader mounted on some type of arm or claw, and us the remote to switch pages while I read in bed.;
I want to purchase an oasis to have in additional to my paper white as a side table kindle but I feel the minute I buy one they’ll announce an update lol 😂

Normally Amazon announces their Kindle updates around September-October just in time for the Black Friday Sales and Christmas so I’d definitely wait, not far to go 😊
I just ordered the Kindle Scribe Bundle during Prime day, the updates at this point is what the device should've been on it's release date, the latest round of updates is what got me off the fence. The bigger screen will be such a relief to my eyes. Thanks for the review.

@@bilaltahir9978 Where do I began, I've read some easy reading linear books, something that digested well and get comfortable with the note taking application. I jumped head first and started reading Anna Karenina, and am currently toward the end of Part 2. I've done some note taking, not as much as I thought I would, the book isn't a difficult read, as it is long. The reading experience on the Scribe is great, it's easy on the eyes and you can definitely immerse yourself in the story. As for portability, without the IP rating it stays at home, I read on my phone in those instances, it is hard on the eyes and somewhat discouraging, because once you experience a Kindle device the phone is just meh. Having said that I can't wait to get home and read, on my Scribe. sorry for being long.

I really love the buttons and the ergonomics in the oasis but if by black friday or Christmas they don't update it I'm gonna buy the paperwithe 😕 (I think it would be also great but I hate that big black band above the screen)
Same. I just feel like if they don’t upgrade it by the end of the year we’ll be stuck with the 2019 tech, I’d only get this if they decrease the price significantly
No Kindle....get kobo...it uses epub so you can rent library books 😂😂😂
I just bought a remarkable and now I’m getting kindle videos recommended. I’ve never been a reader but seeing all the people rave about reading I took out some holds at my library for ebooks and I’m kind of excited to read again.
i have all three! i traded my paperwhite signature for a 32 gb gold oasis, got another paperwhite, and have a basic. love them all!

@@papernroses honestly the signature edition is kinda meh for me! I don’t use the wireless charging feature, so the only other plus really is the 32 gb. With the oasis I feel like the size is more justifiable because of how easy it is to hold!

I bought my first kindle (the oasis) yesterday based on your previous video. I had been considering the base model but the auto rotate feature and the buttons on the oasis sold it for me since I usually read in bed using my phone (constantly turning from side to side). Another big factor for me was price and with the prime day deals currently running I got the 32gb oasis with the cover and power adapter for $219. I’m very excited for it to come in and i’m hoping I will start reading more than before with the kindle by cutting out the distractions of my phone.

I’ve got the 2021 Kindle PW model in 16gb but I really want an Oasis for the page turn buttons, I’m holding out for an update as they’re sooo overdue for one; the Oasis was released 2019. I think if we don’t see a release at the end of this year they must be phasing it out, which is sooo unfortunate as we need a Kindle with page turn buttons.
If they do upgrade the Oasis at the end of the year you can always trade in your old one and purchase a new one.

I traded in an older Kindle Paperwhite for a Kindle Oasis, and I never looked back. The ergonomics are really good making it feel so nice in the hand. It'd be nice to have USB C, but I don't charge often enough for that to be a major drawback. The battery lasts long enough that I don't bother packing a charger for it on vacations. The screen is also super evenly lit and looks amazing (not sure how modern Paperwhite is, but the older one had slightly uneven lighting across the screen).
The Oasis is expensive, but it has really improved my reading experience. When I owned a Paperwhite, I'd reach for my phone to read as often or more often than I used the Kindle, but now, it's worth the effort to make sure I always bring the Kindle with me.
Can you share where you got your kindle oasis case and pop socket you had on it?
Call me crazy. I have a Kindle Touch (bought 10 years ago), Paperwhite Signature Edition, and a Kobo Sage. I really want to support Barnes and Noble and make sure the physical bookstores thrive. So, I decided to get a Nook Glowlight 4. I absolutely love that small form factor with physical page turn buttons. Nook's UI isn't as smooth as Kindle or Kobo but it's absolutely not a bad experience. I loved Kobo better than Kindle but the battery life of Sage is awful. Above all, I don't want to just give more money to Amazon and Rakuten/Walmart. Let a dedicated bookstore like Barnes and Noble do well in this space. Try Nook dear 😍

@@papernroses haha oh dear.... it's worth a try but I will tell you this. You will find Kindle to be smoother and a lot more convenient. It's hard to break from a long standing relationship with a device/ecosystem. But, if you are thinking of taking part in a mission to contribute to the revenue stream of a dedicated bookstore like Barnes and Noble then it's worth it. Just my take.
@@papernroses Guess what, the inconsistency of Nook made me return it and stick with my Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition. Here are the reasons why I had to return the Nook (just in case you want to know the reasons)
1) the sync was not working both ways at all. meaning if I use the app on my phone and read, it's not seamlessly syncing to the eReader
2) If I add books to my wish list on the desktop, it's not syncing back to eReader. But, if I add it to the eReader it syncs online (i.e. one-way sync)
3) Cannot highlight an entire paragraph in one swipe action. It's a two-step process. Select a word first and then slowly drag it to the rest of the sentence. Very cumbersome.
4) Word lookup- the functionality is there but does not display synonyms, antonyms, and contexts in one box. it shows the phonetics and then to know more about the word, we need to open another screen by clicking a button. That interrupts the flow of the reading
5) The wifi keeps dropping and it constantly shows a "not connected to wifi" message. So annoying.

I have the paperwhite but I think I have the basic one. Not the signature. What’s the difference between the 2?
Difference is that the storage is bigger, it has wireless charging, and comes without ads 😊
@@papernroses @cariwalker7549 I don’t know if this is accurate but apparently the signature lighting also auto adjusts according to your environment like a phone, whereas the Standard you’ve got to schedule it yourself.

Hi, i saw your video on info for kindles and i'm trying to get one right now, which kindle would you recommend that can download other reading apps?
On kindles you can only use what is essentially the kindle app. Other brand e-readers (BOOX for example) are more like e-ink tablets and you can download other apps that way!
@@papernroses can the BOOX Poke4lite only download reading apps and already have pre-downloaded books?, because I looked at the brand and I really like it and think would be perfect for me and because I only want it for books and reading

Nice and informative video! I have a Kindle 11th generation. That was the first model with 6.8 inches if I remember correctly and it finally had USB C back then. I use it mainly for reading samples and when I use Kindle Unlimited again. Otherwise I use a Tolino (German brand; hardware like Kobo but different software). The Tolino can be used with the library, which is not possible with the Kindle in my country. I will not replace my Kindle and I will not buy a new one if it ever breaks. I can also read reading samples on my cell phone or tablet.
Do you prefer the Tolino to the Kindles? If so, may I ask why?
@@Nikkilodean19 In Germany, the Kindle cannot be used with the online services of the libraries. That's why I prefer the Tolino. I wouldn't buy a new Kindle either. In addition, with the Tolino I am not tied to a single dealer. I can use it to buy eBooks from the small dealer around the corner and support them in this way.
