When you are looking to buy a better Uke, make sure it plays in tune all the way up to the 12th fret. Lot's of music stores that sell Ukes don't really check that they are set up correctly and you can play open chords at the first position and they sound OK, but either don't play in tune or have poor tone and volume when played up the neck. When looking at demos for Ukes find someone who can actually play up the neck and show you the full potential of the Uke. Also spend the money for solid woods at least for the top. Check out the Kala-ST Spruce Tenor, it plays well up the neck if set up by a reputable shop.

Nice review, but you're strumming the uke like you would strum guitar (at and below the sound hole). When you strum an uke you strum it higher around the base of the neck where it meets the body. This provides a better sounding tone. Hope that helps.

It's sort of weird to hear/see the correct pronunciation come out of the mouth of somebody outside of Hawai'i. I'm so accustomed to hearing "yukulaylay", or "wukulaylay" from some brits, that hearing "ukulele" caught me off guard.

Could you do a review of the Cocobolo uke from Nicguraga? It’s beautiful. Thanks

If you mean Cocobolo Ukuleles, not just the cocobolo wood itself, they are excellent. I have one :) But you can not buy them directly, they sell them via a "lottery" system. You enter the lottery and if you win then you can buy it. This helps them keep prices down and allows them to make each instrument special. If you look up "Cocobolo Ukuleles" on Facebook, you'll find the group for them with the info on how to obtain one.

Hi! I am looking at tenor acoustic electric ukuleles. Besides that kala, do you have any other recommendations? Thank you!

Thank you for the excellent video! One question: is the spacing between the frets different for the Martin C1K vs the Martin soprano?

Between soprano and tenor is an alto or mezzo. ;)
