This is so interesting to see these cut bits of dialogue.
Gives me insight about how editing changed the narrative in the final versions of episodes. Thank you for the upload!
Thank Cyril Paciullo for locating the footage. I just wanted fans of TNG to see it.
Very interesting...all in all it was a good call to cut these, as nothing is really added to the episode in them. There is a pivotal exception, that is Riker’s remark that with the transponder code the Cardassians would be able to track ALL federation ships. It didn’t really make any sense, so it’s great it was cut.
Presumably, each ship would have its own transponder codes, so although the codes given would allow complete access to the Phoenix's systems, including all computer and sensor information (hence locations of other Federation ships) but it would only allow direct access to the Phoenix's own shields, not other ships' shields. I would hope that other ships' transponder codes would still not be accessible.
It certainly raised the staked, didn't it? 🙁
Would be nice if Paramount+ offered special extended episodes of TNG featuring the best compatible deleted scenes....
Like they did for “The Measure of a Man?”
This is fascinating. First I had no idea that there are deleted scenes in television series, due to the time constraints on network television. Secondly, The Wounded in mho, one of TNG's most memorable episodes. Thank you for sharing this.
Cyril Paciullo was the one who found it. You should be thanking him.
This was such a good episode especially the dialogue between the two captains.
thanks for making this available
Don’t mention it.
Thank you. To me what makes zero sense is the "O'Brian as the tactical officer" thing.
He aways has been part of the enlosted crew, not an officer.
often field comissions during war override. tactical officer in this case is more just an ease of tongue. Its a position, not a rank. Enlisted personnel are at times given officer positions in on the field placements. It was war, skillset over paperwork. he never said he was the chief of tactical.
@@bensmith5064 I guess you could be right. Still would not make much sense in a Nebula Class Starship
@@Sage2000 they lost quite a few key personal at setlik 3 - and obrien was one of the guys that turned that situation around, it takes time to get replacements in war.
different ship at the time, nebula were not yet in service
@@bensmith5064 good call
And then Maxwell went on to be the warden of Shawshank prison. 😎😁

Got more?
We'll see.
were these scenes added to the netflix run?
No.
Captain Maxwell was the best captain ain Starfleet by far. He knew what was going on and he was ultimately proven correct.
