    MY PROFILE:
I started fishing when I was just a young kid and instantly fell in love with Bass Fishing. Started fishing tournaments when I was in high school and have been fishing them ever since. For years I fished every tournament I could enter sometimes fishing as many as 45 tournaments a year. I qualified for the Elites when I was 30 but didn't have the sponsors or money to compete so I turned it down. Got sponsor support later and fished the FLW Tour for 2 years and having been fishing the Toyotas since 2006. I’ve won 5 Angler of the Year Titles becoming the only fishermen to have more than 3 AOYs in the Toyota series. Won numerous events along the way that has helped shape my way into working for Strike King as head of product innovation. Along the way, I picked up a camera and started filming my endeavors. I have now fallen in love with making videos about fishing and delivering it to you. Follow along the journey...it should be an honest and fun ride!

I can say without a doubt I've spent a couple few thousand dollars on rain gear over the years from most of the major manufacturers and I'm right there with you... I might get a couple years of use at best. When I bought a Gill set about 3 years ago I wasn't expecting anything special. I've been thoroughly impressed so far and they don't look like they're going to fail any time soon. Great rain gear...

Hybrid hunter, rage everything, hack attack jigs, everything strike king , lews rods and reels , Sunline, etc etc etc. but it’s all good, because of you I have bought about 20 hybrid hunters , switched to Sunline , already used lews and strike king so I am a fan of yours, I believe that you know what you are doing and you are a good teacher so I will definitely be watching all of your videos and trying to be a better angler

Musto BR2 Offshore Jacket 2.0 and bibs.
    Buy once, cry once.
Really designed for crews on long distance racing sailboats where you literally wear foul weather gear for days and days whenever topside.
When topside, you may be in the relatively dry cockpit that just gets rain or spray, or working at the mast or getting soaked when on the bow or sitting on the highside “rail” as “ballast” so the boat can point higher.
Most fisherman will look at the price which is around $1,000 and laugh.
Amortize that Initial Cost over 10-15 years of almost 100% dry ALWAYS and it might make sense. I get over 25 years per set and that set is kept for friends who choose to stay dry.
I just smile when guys come in shaking, soaked and exhausted as there is a Solution.
Now, most fisherman, like motorcycle Riders do everything they can to avoid rain. That’s their loss.
I know a Dealer that sell all the top end foul weather gear (no the Bass Pro crap) and he could tell you why the materials (cloth and neoprene) and the multiple techniques used to seal every seam is why it keeps the crew 100% dry.
Only negative is that the pants do not have zippers at the ankles so you have to remove your shoes, don gear and put your boots on. Their reason is simple, your lower legs are not likely to get water coming through the ankle zippers. Kinda common sense but a nuisance too.
    Be well.

I've always told people interested in fishing year-round to invest in a good rainsuit. Money well spent.

I haven't tried Gill so not knocking them, but I work offshore and have tried a ton of different rainsuits so far Kuiu and Helly Hansen have been the best I've tried.

I bought Gill bibs with Ranger bucks . They’re the best I’ve had. I have a jacket of another brand and as you say “it keeps me kind of dry”. Wish it was Gill too.

Funny you mention skiing... Me and a buddy were fishing one day and went into a lakeside restaurant for a burger wearing our rain gear cuz it was a cold morning. The waitress said "omg were you guys snowboarding???"
"Totally". I said as I looked out at the dry brown hillside across the lake...
"Cool" She smiled and walked away.

I don't enjoy anything enough to be miserable doing it. I've used Cabela's Guide Wear for 15+ years. Treat it every couple of years. It still works OK for me. But I don't club fish any more and rarely am I out in inclement weather. Thanks for the info. I really enjoy your channel and what you share with us.

Will have to give Gill a look. I used Huk for about 3 years and froze my butt off and like you said got the wet a$$. This past winter I got a chance to try out Berreta's gear that we carry at Bass Pro. Only reason why I tried it since it is designed for hunting was I had questions for the rep about it, since I worked up there in hunting so I can pass it on to customers. I liked the reinforced seat and knee areas. But need something new for this fall and winter season.

If it’s gortex it can’t wear off and won’t leak. At least that’s been my experience. It’s crazy how expensive a set is, I guess they figure if the target shopper if willing to pay 100+ thousand for a boat he’ll pay 700-800 for a rain suit 😂

Check out the Apex suit or if you want something even lighter the Gill Aspect is our lightest weight jacket and bib - meant for those southern pop up showers but has all day protection.

Todd, I’ve had Huk and Aftco both and have gotten wet wearing both. I’m so tired of spending $600-$800 on gear that gets you wet. I may try the Gill one day. How is it on weight? Thanks.

I don’t really know how to answer that, I wear the bottoms all day and never notice it. The weight is never an issue for me as long as I’m dry I’m happy

I have a $50 set of frogg toggs because I can’t find the right size to fit. I’m too short and fat to find the size that ain’t to long in the legs. Also can’t fit around my gut.
