I feel like I am a minority within the metal community for not caring as to whether or not something sounds "generic." If I like the way it sounds, I will listen to it. I like the way this sounds. Therefore, I will listen to it.
im the same way as you dude. "Generic" sounding or not, if shit sounds good ill support it. Too many judgmental people in the alternative scene. Its not exactly a piece of cake to stand out in a music scene with countless different sub-genres and tons of bands in each sub-genre

I completely agree. I get so sick of seeing comments on nearly every song I listen to with the typical "generic" comment. I don't give an actual fuck if a song is generic, or if it sounds like something else I've heard 1000 times before. If it sounds good to me, that's all that matters. Same with guitar riffs, a lot of people don't like simple riffs, only like the most technical of riffs. In my opinion, if it's creative and sounds good, something that I can groove along to, that's all that matters.

It's not bad to be honest, but it's just not quite my taste although I do respect them trying to bring back the old style but I think we all know that people don't want to hear that anymore.. Just to be clear I am not insulting the band.. It just seems people (like myself) Want something that hasn't already been done a thousand times before, and it's quite difficult to do. I feel music is just on it's own terms, getting old. It's almost depressing in some sort of manner.
music isn't getting old, you are getting old. We get tired of hearing a lot of the same stuff, but your kids wont feel that way. It's always been like that.
