  • Not gonna lie, this video was a challenge to make. Filming on my old smartphone with terrible low light video quality was not the best idea I've had. Definitely going to invest in a higher quality camera and mic setup for filming away from the desk.

    Always appreciate when people get the most out of some of the older architectures.
    But that case - I've never seen it before. It's absolutely beautiful.
    Now I want that case...

    I remember my first build having a 9590 and it shredded most games at 1440p at decent settings. It got reeeaal hot but it was a beautiful cpu. Thanks for the video, glad others see that this old cpu was quite the underdog.

    Thanks for the review on your classic FX rig. Just for fun I recently picked up a couple of FX rigs from my local craigslist. I have PCs all over the house, I mainly use the one in the kitchen when Im cooking and eating, and the PC that I use the most is the one in the living room for similar reasons as u have mentioned. I use the couch mainly to watch movies but when I play video games or do online shopping or checking email what I found worked best for me is to roll up my portable standing table and drafting chair and I bring it all the way up to the TV, I then plug in my wired mech keyboard and mouse. When my buddy comes over I have several wireless xbox controllers and we might play some of the couch coop games I have installed. For sound in the living room I highly recommend setting up a Home Theater AV Receiver with 2 speakers in front 2 speakers in the rear and a nice big strong Dedicated Subwoofer that bumps. The Home Theater Sound System makes a world of difference when your watching movie and playing video games. If you live alone thats when you can really enjoy the Subwoofer and nobody is telling you to lower it LOL. 👊😏

    Super cool and clean FX rig, man. As you commented down below, you are correct as one should not build something like this today as $/performance is insane (or have big D cash to throw out the window) if you tried but it was a build from years back that grew with time. I have an fx 8300 (@4Ghz/gtx 960) chilling at one of my TVs as well but was my #2 build from '15 as is 1 of 6 pcs. Best of luck with the channel, man

    Very nice build! I like the case, also glad to see someone else using 2400mhz kits as most benchmark videos using this cpu always use low speed kits. I have my doubts about the gpu though, I was thinking a 1660 super is really the limit for this cpu. You could check with MSI Afterburner + Rivatuner ingame to see how much it's using the CPU / GPU. But great video!

      🙂 for older computers performance has to be something below a 1080ti, that being said I do recommend looking at video cards that have 8GB of Vram or higher, that way the video game doesnt have to worry about using some of your old and slow system ram as additional vram which is No Bueno. The 1660 Super has only 6GB which is too small of vram but you won't notice performance loss if you use it on a brand new modern motherboard but on an old system I would avoid it.

    I remember buying my old FX 9590 when it was first released, I cooled it with a custom water loop that had a radiator bigger/ thicker than yours. I kind of wish I hadn't sold it, because it was a good part of AMD's history.

    I actually tried the Asus TUF Sabertooth 990FX R3.0 motherboard. Sad to say PCIE 3.0 on the Sabertooth Gen3 is still faster overall. The M.2 HD on your setup is only half as fast due to the slower PCIE. Also your video card has a lower transfer rate. Happy to compare benchmarks anytime.

    • @c.a.s.t6782
      @c.a.s.t6782  3 місяці тому

      For normal operation of a computer, you'll never notice a difference between 1600 mb/s and 3500 mb/s because running windows doesn't require that high of a transfer rate. For 2080ti you may see 2-5% increase if that. And at the end of the day, the CPU is the largest bottle neck on GPUs where PCIE gen speeds would see measurable differences. I'd argue getting higher clockspeed on CPU, memory, and north bridge is more important.

    A tip for filming next time, many UA-camrs start off with a GoPro to shoot video before they go for a more expensive high end camera. A $200 GoPro Hero 8 for example (don't have one but I was able to shoot a music video with it a few years ago) is a nice, somewhat modern GoPro (released 2019) that can shoot well in 4K or at other resolutions. If you go for used, you can get one for around $150 or less from what I can see on eBay. The GoPro Hero 9 was the first GoPro with a front facing screen (something the DJI Osmo Action had first).
    **I'm just seeing now that the DJI Osmo Action 3 is only $200 new and it's a more modern action cam than the GoPro 8 since it only came out second half of 2022. The Action 4 apparently only came out a few months ago so the previous one had a price drop. But yeah, you don't need to spend more than $200 for a nice little modern cam to shoot 4K videos. Hope this was helpful.
    That's a nice setup btw. I didn't start building until mid 2020 after the first round of quarantine. I went with a Ryzen 5 2600 only because the 3600 was sold out everywhere, and I paired it with a GTX 1660 Super (was concerned about drivers with RDNA 1 but later realized they were fixed by then and I also found out Linux and Nvidia don't play well together smh). Currently I have a new build with a Ryzen 7 7700X and an RX 6700XT this in Windows 11. I've had almost no issues with the AMD graphics, and the CPU and RAM are tuned so I'm getting up to 5.55 GHz on a couple cores and my Geekbench 6 scores are in the i9 13900k range for single threading. Buildzoid's (from Actually Hardcore Overclocking) SK hynix Zen 4 RAM timings really helped.

      Yes, but don't spend your money to buy it. They are way too expensive for what you get. You need high OC, optimized OS, and custom settings in modern titles to make the experience worthwhile. IIRC he said that he built it 6-7 yrs ago, so that would be just before or just after first gen Ryzens were released. And AMD was charging premium prices for those Ryzens because of their high performance. So if he was able to get the FX-9590 and mobo and ram for a good price I can see why he would build it if his budget was limited. My main system is STILL a FX-8350, Gigabyte 990FXA-U3-R5, 32GB Kingston 1866, Radeon R7 360 2GB. But I built mine 10 or 11 years ago. I don't play AAA games on it; just some occasional emulation of old stuff. I'm still using win7 because I despise all later versions. While it would be nice to have a AM4 or 5 system I don't have the money atm. Luckily my 8350 can still handle my daily tasks. Having 32GB of ram helps a lot I think. Obviously I have an SSD as my boot drive, even though it's "only" a SATA drive because the board is too old to have NVME slots. SATA SSDs are fast enough for me. I have 3 2TB MX500s for fast storage access as well as regular HDDs for larger but slower storage. My system runs 24/7 because I run Deluge for torrenting, and I also download tons of stuff from usenet so I am also running Forte Agent and Multipar. Then of course I have to have my file manager Total Commander and Firefox open at all times, as well as Media Player Classic Home Cinema to watch things I don't feel like putting on a thumb drive or 2.5" HDD to play on my 4K TV. All this multitasks fine on my 8350 and it's not even overclocked. I live in Florida so the last thing I want is to generate MORE heat. I wish he had put a Kill-A-Watt meter on his system because I would like to know how much power that system consumes.

      So my goal was to have a computer to use on my TV because I enjoy computing from the couch. While it makes more sense to purchase something more modern that is better suited for it. I enjoy building PCs as a hobby and like older hardware. Most of the components were sitting in storage from my first gaming PC build as I have new systems at my desk setup, so I figured it would be fun to use what I already have and see how much performance I could extract out of it. My thought process was to prove a point you don't normally see on UA-cam: I'm essentially showing that even the worst possible scenario, slowest gaming PC at highest resolution, still delivers a usable gaming experience. So by comparison, the viewer's experience would be far better, as they are more than likely using better hardware in a more balanced setup.
      I hate how people get so caught up in the next new shiny flagship graphics card and think what they have is obsolete. Hopefully this video helps change that narrative.
