Im actually a 15 yr old player from NZ and this video has made me think about how much work I need to do to start even getting seen because I'm about half as good as these guys but I have only been playing a year now so I still believe in myself
Try hard, and develop basketball IQ by watching how best players play, develop a stronger mind and heart. In long run, the highest level of player win because of intelligence, heart and perserverance. Talent is overrated.
Aus team looked way better together, NZ seemed to have individual strength. I remember playing ball in NZ when i was younger. There was no money whatsoever lol. I live in Aus now and wow the amount of money that goes into ball here is crazy. A lot of our kiwi youth are developing here better just due to funding. My boy plays ball and i remember the competition back home being higher, Unfortunately none of us had any money to go anywhere 😅🤦🏽♂️. But proud of us anyway as a small country we do alright.😊
I'm wondering if this is NZL best players. Growing up playing in NZL we never sent out best players cause they could never afford it coming from low income areas. We only sent the rich kids and they got spanked everytime. Steven Adams is a perfect example of NZL basketball, NZL basketball didn't even look at him.
Yup. Australia also has more funded programs to identify good players from low income areas which is where all their good players come from. No rich kids in aus play basketball lol. There’s also a greater population of African players here. Their obvious genetic gifts play a huge role. Number 9 was instrumental and the tall dude from Sudan was very good at rim defence.
@KingLoa-t1n I lived in Australia and noticed that Australia sporting infrastructure is miles ahead of NZL. We only worry about Rugby, cricket, netball and soccer (slowly improving). Fingers crossed NZL basketball starts to fund it, not saying we will beat the Aussies but at least be more competitive.
Steven Adams wasn't good/skilled though until he grew into his potential, hence why he still can't dribble or shoot but plays good pick n roll, rebounds, and solid defence.
@@packingawoody4554 These boys are under 15 so yes at this age and by Steven's own admission, it wasn't until he became the giant man he is that he had a future in the sport.
Either DEI pick or bad coaching. Everyone's first move after getting the ball is dribbling and drvie to the hoop when there are 2 to 3 players in front of them. No triple threat, don't see screening, not many cuts, not many open shots, just rely on pure altheticism. When you play with no basket IQ, you lose when the raw talent is better than you. Bading coaching or bad DEI pick on players.
1st of all.. can't believe these kids r 14 👀 2nd of all.. I like the surfy looking kid with the unsuspecting athleticism 👀 dunkin at 14 and lastly.. it was enjoyable to watch.... love for my boys to play ball.. but my sporty boy loves Rugby too much 😭
NZ needs to play as a team. They drive to the post and try to force shot with Australia height and arms are blocking the shot. Players should watch NBA to pick up skills. Drive and step back seems to be a skill to lose the defence. Defence needs some work.
aus is good but i think they need to work on there court vision and both teams need big centers nz did good just the interior defense was a little loose but if the had a 6 ft 3 to 5 they would have done lots better I know someone that's 13 and 6 ft we have a good future a head of us
Aus could probably send a state team which could spank this NZ team. But when you consider the entire country of NZ has a smaller talent pool and comp than any aus state then it makes sense
No battle here your seeing an Aussie team outclass the kiwi team. The offense the kiwi were running what one 2 passes and shoot no movement off the ball no screen setting freeing a guy up.What are these coaches teaching them. The kiwi offense was a joke.
Nz should be ashamed of there performance who the hell is the coach- fire him- they suck, the haka was as bad as there playing basketball- an I'm from NZ- not on at all - its actually quite embarrassing - these players need to take a good look at themselves my daughter can shoot the hoop better then what they can
Afro kiwi here living in Aus now. Bro your so right. The kids I saw growing up way better then this shit. Bro NBA level games we’re played at many parks across Auckland. The talent was real. We don’t be have the right leaders to run a decent program and sadly cant compete with Aus when it comes to funding. They have scouts all over the low social economic areas, watching for raw talent. This game pissed me off cause I know us kiwis are better then this. We are elite athletes.
Mocking culture you can’t understand is a vile act. Your probably one of these entitled boomers constantly yapping about back in the day lol. Definitely some 50 year old Aussie lol. You lot Won’t be around for long.
Aus looked so comfortable out there. Good defense led to good offense real fun to watch

NZL basketball program needs serious looking at for many years, it’s just money. honestly the best ballers from Nz don’t get picked
Who would you have picked instead?

In terms of basketball, I think Aus is just ahead of NZ. There's a reason why there's more Aus players in the NBA than NZers

@@val43z ha? Nothing to do with how big a country is lol. New Zealand has more population than Latvia and they are 9th in the world.
