I buy bandcamp music because: 1) More directly supports the artist 2) Allows for lossless digital format. I like lossless since it gives me the ability to have full CD quality music minus the hassle of storing a bunch of CDs. With larger hard drive space becoming cheap, file size is no longer a concern.
People do not promote their bandcamp and then wonder why nobody is listening to their music there.I like the editorial choice of music.I like how you can follow people and see what they are buying,I like how you can follow artists and see announcement of albums
This was extremely informative and personal. I enjoyed the lack of editing and cutting. It was authentic. I’m signing up fir band camp first thing in the morning. And I’m subscribing to your channel now!
I already love Bandcamp because as an artist it’s the only platform where you really make $... but I had no idea of these other features! Thanks so much for this video!
One BIG strike against Bandcamp is: - We can't offer previews of our songs, we have to allow a minimum of three (3) FULL streamings to people. Who will buy your song after they were able to listen to your song 3 times? And after they clear their cache, they are back listening for free. I'm not sure if I could create a preview track, upload it and make it part of a 2 tracks album, disabling streaming of the full track? That would be one way to do it... I'll check on that. Otherwise, no complaint! Plus, they had a commission free Friday 2 weeks ago and that is really generous of them.
If I don't like your music in the first 15 seconds I'll simply skip it I don't need previews. I don't buy individual tracks or stream on bandcamp I'm an album guy
Bandcamp is great for new independent artists. People who are in search of new music can easily find underground artists. I could never earned the money I earned from bandcamp through streaming services.
Is it okay to release music on Band Camp when you already release music with Distrokid? And also is it okay to release music you have already released to other platforms with Distrokid?
you can upload as much as you want with a free account. There is a maximum file size but it's not really an issue unless you're uploading 15 minutes tracks. Uploading covers shouldn't be an issue if you're offering it as a bonus or free download.
you don't have to promote your music on a forum specifically about bandcamp.Just promote your music on your social account and people you know personally
Who the hell uses BC? Band dump is a garbage. The place is dead. I tried to sell there. There's literally 2 views in a 100 years. let alone any followers etc. Dont waste your time there if you're an artist at least, there are much better places
It's not garbage and there's successful rappers there. The problem is small artists are pushing their spotify every day and do not promote their bandcamp and than wonder why nobody is streaming or buying from bandcamp.Bandcamp is the best service to discover new music because they are human made not those garbage algorithm that claim knowing what songs you really want.

But how to get a following if there isn't even a big bandcamp forum/subreddit/community... :S

Check out this playlist. Tons of videos about marketing/promotion ua-cam.com/video/ycYZQ3GoZxc/v-deo.html
excellent!
I heard BANDCAMP is more laid back about sampled based beats
is this actually true?
Technically. But it's not Bandcamp you should be worried about. It's the original copyright holders.
jesus fuk me, just make your own music or you are not a musician.
Enstigator Official FUCK OFF
Lool false. Try again.
Should you sell your music on there, or just offer for free in exchange of email?
The most of them will stream record and don´t need to pay...thats shit on bandcamp
