1) Mixture of Greek Philosophy - Platonic dualism 2) The Bible uses the words “Soul and Spirit” interchangeably. Both carries the same Functionality! 3) There are no functional definitions given in the Scripture to distinguish between the two - Soul and Spirit. Ex. Soul as interface 4) It is a mistake to say I'm a spirit, and I have a body something like that. I'm Jeba Isaac, when I say it, I mean my “Wholeness” (body, spirit/soul etc.) I don't say, “You spirit and having a body called Jeba Isaac”! No sense at all. Because, That's a way the Bible declares it, “he became a living soul” - the wholeness of Adam!. We can distinguish between them but we should not separate them. 5) The state of being is Spirit - No! The Spirit is not in the state of being but BECOMING! God only is in the State of being. Every minute we (wholeness) are changing. Even the Bible tells that the Spirit can sin just as the body! Then, how can it be in the state of being? Final point - Believing that humans are made up of a body, soul, and spirit is NOT a false teaching. However, making up extra-biblical definitions for them and then building un-biblical teachings upon them IS.
