Hey Garrett, glad to see you back on UA-cam, sorry for the repeat post. But I was wondering if you could react to a drum play through of the song Jurassic|Cretaceous by the band The Ocean. They are a great prog metal band and their current drummer Paul Seidel is fantastic, the band doesn’t get nearly enough love. Anyway great content man, keep it up 🤘🏻
Hell yeah, Madden is an incredible drummer. I remember watching a video of hers doing her own version of "Everybody wants to rule the world" by Tears for Fears and it was incredible how funky it sounded.
I’m stoked to see you’re still making content! I went to watch your Elliot Hoffman reactions again, in hopes you’re still making videos. Love your shit bro!
You should react to Gabe Serbian from The Locust! He passed recently and he was one of the most unique, ridiculously talented, underrated and simultaneously one of the most influential drummers of the 90s underground music scene and I think he really deserves more shine in this little section of UA-cam, would suggest reacting to the drum cam AOTKPTA video or the video of the Locust live at Che Cafe
If you like jazz, here's a performer who's bringing the classics of yesteryear into our own generation. This Norwegian born singer has phenomenal vocal skills. Angelina Jordan, 16 today, first came on the scene as a barefooted little snaggle-toothed girl of 7, with Amy Winehouse hair, who walked onto the stage of Norway's Got Talent to audition. She was last up, and nobody was prepared for this 'old soul', who went on to win the 2014 season singing/channeling jazz classics from decades past. Even metal enthusiasts have fallen in love with her ability to draw the listener into her world when she sings. The vocal control she exhibited was even more exceptional, as she taught/teaches herself to sing. She began around 2-3 years old, with a preference for the jazz masters. Even on the stage of NGT, the judges saw her arrange the music and lyrics, even at such a young age. Winning NGT 2014, Angelina went on to compete in America's Got Talent, The Champions 2020, auditioning with her own arrangement of Bohemian Rhapsody. She's performed over 190 covers and has 5 original songs, all uniquely arranged and performed. She has received over 1 billion views on UA-cam and 2.5 billion on Facebook. All that being said, before you deep dive into this young performer's covers or originals, there's one gem amongst a treasure trove to start with. This "MUST SEE" performance is her cover of Screamin' Jay Hawkins' "I Put a Spell on You" (1956). I guarantee that you will not regret making this your next reaction. At 9 years and 2 months old, Angelina arranged and performed a black and white studio cover of this jazz classic; considered by many to be a masterpiece cover of how Jay intended the song to be performed. There are 195 versions of the song performed by such greats as: Nina Simone; Manfred Man; Pete Townshend; John Fogerty; Annie Lennox; and many more. So the question is, how does Angelina Jordan come closer to the original than the other 194 great artists? She did it by going back to the source, Screamin' Jay Hawkins himself. Her arrangement of music and lyrics honor Jay's work as close as possible, albeit by being performed by a tiny barefooted 9 year old girl. She can change up her performance on the fly. The notes she scribbles down at the beginning of the video are the lyrics you can see her referring to during the performance. Singing is simply organic to her. The candle she holds in the beginning has a picture of Jay on it, honoring (or perhaps channeling) him. If you haven't seen one of Jay's performances, I've provided a link to him on The Arsenio Hall Show in 1989. I recommend listening to Jay's performance 'AFTER' your react to Angelina, even if you do it on your own time. Jay's is raw and very unconventional. After watching Jay, I jumped right back to Angelina's cover, picking out how she adapted Jay's style for her own arrangement. This song has over 9.9 million views on her channel, and millions more on reactor views. I stress that you watch this black and white studio performance (listed below) from her cover channel. She has performed the song since this time, but she has never replicated the vocal performance she gave here. This is a treat for any vocal coaches to try to deconstruct how this 9 year old pulls it off. This is a one-and-only treasure that you absolutely won't regret watching. If you disagree after hearing her, dinners on me when you're in the neighborhood. "I PUT A SPELL ON YOU" (Angelina Jordan cover, black and white studio performance) - ua-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/v-deo.html "I PUT A SPELL ON YOU" (Screamin' Jay Hawkins 1989 performance on The Arsenio Hall Show) - ua-cam.com/video/3S7a4Uj2yME/v-deo.html Enjoy!
The way she holds her jaw and her head movement reminds me of VOLA's new drummer. So weird. Speaking of VOLA, I would be interested to see you react to a full song of theirs, not just a drum playthrough. I recently found out that all of their band members started off as drummers...except the drummer himself. Very interesting and I think you can hear it in their music. I think you would like them
Ever think of doing Jimmy Chamberlin? There's a live video where the camera is mainly on him from Pinkpop 1994. The first song has nothing but drums in the mix until halfway through the song.
Hey Garrett, hope you're staying well bro! Thanks for all the enjoyable and informative content so far. Would love to hear your thoughts on Brian Blade and his chops in anything from the Fellowship band. Keep it natch man xo
I should really practice odd meters. It’s so refreshing. Somehow I always end up playing Money or Mission Impossible. I need to find more songs like this and just jam to it.
Hey Garrett, I love your reaction videos, I always come back to watch them. You did a reaction video from a public access video (iirc the Video was from the Netherlands?) from the early 2000s, it was a drummer and a guitarist. And the drummer was straight killing it. I watched that video a couple months ago, and I jumped back onto your channel to watch it again, and I swear I looked through all your uploaded videos several times and I cannot find that video anymore. Am I going crazy, or was that video taken down?
Hi, try react to : Jethro Tull - "mouse police never sleeps" ( John Bonham once said Jethro Tull drummer Barriemore Barlow was the best drummer so has come out from England ) In this track you can lisen to strange beats and stuff
Yeah...a lot of drummers nowadays use triggers/sampled sound setups; it's cheaper to buy some decent triggers than it is to buy a top quality kit and great mics, I guess. Some triggers (I guess) aren't especially dynamic, though, and maybe don't discern between force of the strokes too well. So even light strikes sound like they're massive and symphonic lol I appreciate why they're so widely utilized (I'm a drummer myself)...they're less expensive, easier to record and upload with, way less hassle, and offer a diverse catalog of sampled sounds...but I much prefer the sound of an organic kit that's mic'ed up real nice 'n tight to the over-sampled, produced to death, Great Valu Drum Kit In A Can...as it were, and all things being equal lol
Do us all a favour Garrett and check out Alex Camarena from Silent Planet. Dudes kit is super cool and he does some weird fun stuff in this song you'll dig. ua-cam.com/video/ONLc1QGZB0w/v-deo.html
You can tell that she likes grooving n 7. I feel like people wither groove 7 easier or 5 easier. I'm 7 all day. Like I have no problem with 5 but I love jamming 7
If you still read these comments, you are on my heart and have been when I see your videos on here. I just want you to know that the Lord Jesus really loves you and wants you to be saved, brother. I'm not a prophet or anything, but you should turn your life to Jesus and seek healing in Him. No matter what evil you have done (we all have done evil) and no matter what has happened to you, Jesus Christ died for your sins and was historically resurrected on the 3rd day. God loves you that much. Please seek Jesus, friend.
Where you been my bro??? I hope you are keep it cool and living right!
Be well!

Yes please do this!!!
Yeah man, saw them live with Leprous in April. Crazy good atmospheric metal prog, I really liked their set!
Discovered her through the first Meinl playthrough video and she's friggin' amazing. That snare kills.
Madden Klass is the BOMB! I've been watching her on Instagram for a year or so. Love seeing you bring her to this channel too! Cheers!
She hits that rimshot beautifully. Snare is killer
Hell yeah, Madden is an incredible drummer. I remember watching a video of hers doing her own version of "Everybody wants to rule the world" by Tears for Fears and it was incredible how funky it sounded.
Hope ur doing ok, Garrett. Maybe u can drop us an update video soon. Thanks for another great reaction
Bro you have no idea how much you’ve helped me with programming drums for my solo project. The “Set” thing is fucking brilliant.
Come back!!! I miss your reactions!!!
I’m stoked to see you’re still making content! I went to watch your Elliot Hoffman reactions again, in hopes you’re still making videos. Love your shit bro!
Madden Klass, Senri Kawaguchi and Anika Nilles are my favorite female drummers right now.

"She sounds like her hands look" - I know EXACTLY what you mean, that makes so much sense!

I'll be following Madden, great stuff...also, did a bunch of your videos get removed? Textures, SnarkyPuppy-Lingus..etc? They seem to be gone?
Ever think of doing Jimmy Chamberlin? There's a live video where the camera is mainly on him from Pinkpop 1994. The first song has nothing but drums in the mix until halfway through the song.
Jimmy's a no-brainer for Garrett to react to - jazz drummer in a rock context, yes please!!
Kenny grohowski un batería que toca música extrema con elementos de jazz. Increíble cosmopolis.
miss you bro
Hi Garrett! Do you know what happened to the Meshuggah videos you made? They were great. I used to come back to them every once in a while. 😁
Hey Garrett, hope you're staying well bro! Thanks for all the enjoyable and informative content so far. Would love to hear your thoughts on Brian Blade and his chops in anything from the Fellowship band.

You could say she's in a Klass of her own.
Sorry, had to.
Hello, a guy like you have to react to The Sky Is Red (Drum Playthrough by Baard Kolstad) Amazing drummer 🤩
One of the best drummers out there - the pop she has on her snare, I feel she'd have it if she was hitting a catfood can!
WHERE YOU BEEN!?
How on earth is there no reaction video from you to the "Mgła-Exercises in Futility V -Darkside-Brutal Assault 2019 (Drum Cam)" video? o_o

Either that or way too much compression
The music is interesting, it's not enough to listen to. Reminds me of Dan Swano from the moontower album
You ok? You’re missed
Emmanuel Caplette for sure....what about Jojo Mayer?
Please react to thriller by Dirty Loops

"se" 100
did garret miller die irl?
I always count 7/8 as 1-2-3-4,1-2-3 to be honest (not a drummer!)
Thats so because drummer sample replace their kits.
