i think it makes a huge difference that this shop puts brides in slightly bigger dresses and pins them to fit, whereas other shops put brides in tiny size 8 samples and use bungee cord to hold it up. makes a world of difference in how flattering it looks on.
I think that part of the difference is that Gok has a background in fashion design/dressmaking/tailoring.
He's struggled with weight issues in the past. I think in other episodes he said he lost about 10 stone at some point? So he personally understands body image issues and seems to get that cramming someone into ill-fitting clothes will make them uncomfortable with themselves.
@yvetteking7749 Gok doesn't work there. He is there for the production. That is why all brides still have consultants - who work for the store.

The 3rd dress looked amazing on her. It flattered her chest area and fell softly down from there. She looked beautiful, but she looked stunning in the 4th one. It is the most beautiful dress and she looked slim and almost regal in it. She is a very harsh critic of herself, unnecessarily so. Gok has a wonderful innate feeling for what will look good on a bride and his gowns are the most beautiful and unique, much more so than their American counterparts.

That last dress made her look tall, slender but still curvy. The lace detailing on the skirt balanced the attention from her chest, and because there was no break/line from the collar to the hem, it just elongated her frame so much. Perfect choice… plus it looked bridal and not like a nightgown.
Agreed. I dislike the dresses with a sharp break/line at the waist. The curve of the waist that flows gracefully onto the hips is must more flattering.
Definitely. And because she loved how she looked and felt confident, she was immediately standing taller which made it look even better.
Classic A-line shape, and the lace was stunning. I see her with a bouquet of those blush peach roses. Perfect gown, and once again, Gok's magic brought me to tears. She's gorgeous.

I can understand how insecure it can be as an actress of theater,when you have a costume on your that character but when your off stage your just yourself so you don't wear a costume to be yourself so it's hard to see yourself the way others do.... that last dress was perfect for her, just gorgeous. I hope she felt just as beautiful on her day as she looked at the dress salon

Gok is simply the best. He treats the brides with so much respect and empathy, listens andnever goes over budget. Absolutely my favourite version of Say Yes to the Dress.

Can totally understand this young lady. She is an actress. My daughter was an actress from the time she was 11 yrs old. She struggles to this day (48 yrs) with accepting herself. She is stunningly beautiful as is this girl but she doesn't see it. So many auditions with never being right. Only a few good roles. It takes it's toll.

I love Gok's talent and his ability to feel his brides and to understand what's really going on underneath mixed or often deceiving signals. This might be the first time I feel he might failed in seeing that the bride's neckline preference was represented by her own dress. It's not that she dislikes the plunge, she didn't like how her bust looks in those dresses. I'd say she likes her bust to be well supported, upfront and together (that would be my preference as well). He tried to cover her up, but that didn't work neither. It wasn't about being covered, it was about having the right type of neckline that would offer certain look of well supported, firm and nicely shaped bust. He is magician, but sometimes it's really difficult to see through person's real concerns.

From the beginning, the bride already expressed that she was not comfortable with revealing gowns, but she was given 3 similar gowns opening lower and lower. Then, they showed her one covered gown with lots of blings. Of course she would love it. She did not have the chances of trying on other more covered gowns in other shapes. Eg. With corset...etc. Not to the best interests of the bride.
