I'm not even Polish and this is still painful
Edit: thank you, everyone! I've never gotten a thousand likes on a comment before

I’m Polish and it’s literally 100x more painful. Imagine that lol

I'm not polish but I can pronounce all of theese and I know some polish I can speak some but not read
I'm polish and I lost it
I am a Russian learning Polish, but native Polish speakers have praised me for my pronounciation so this is just as painful as a native speaker
The announcer for the cities isnt saying the names properly herself
I agree

Some of them where right like warsaw
I'm not Polish, but I know the general pronunciation of certain words...

respect for the person who's named Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz
*kurwa* !
"Rz" is like a "sh" but with less air coming through your mouth, and vibrating your vocal chords. Cz is like ch but with more air and more of a "u" sound. Sz is like a sh but same. The funny e (ę) is like a ewu but with the back of your tongue pressed against the roof of your mouth. So Grzegorz is like a Gshegosh, and Brzęczyszczykiewicz is like Bsh-ewuh-chy-sh-ch-y-kie-veech.
Try to read it in Russian it's way easier

Here's all the Polish cities mentioned and how to roughly pronounce them in English;
1)Chełm --> Hewm or Heum.
2)Grudziądz --> Grujondz.
3)Włocławek --> Vwotswavek or Vuotsuavek.
4)Rzeszów --> Zheshuv.
5)Częstochowa --> Chenstohova.
6)Bydgoszcz --> Bidgoshch.
7) Łódź --> Wuj or Wooj.
8) Warszawa --> Varshava.

+theWater763 Oh hey I have a question on this pronunciation actually! Would it be more of a tsze-shii-n or Ste-ze-shii-n? Or some combo? Or more glide-y like tszshii-n? :p
How does one pronounce the Szcz part?
+Shadow Sneak
you just pronounce 'sz' like 'sh' (shelf) and 'cz' like 'tch' (match). I am not sure how to explain the sound of 'ci', though. it's kind of like 'cz', but a lot softer. And 'e' is not e like in 'easy', but e like in 'elementary'.
Hmm... so something like sh(e)-tche-shiin? The (e) being non-voiced?
+Shadow Sneak yeah, kinda.
+theWater763 Stargard Szczeciński will be better haha
Where's Szczecin lol

Sz = Sh
Cz = Tch (Like 'butcher')
Ć - like the beginning of 'Cinquecento' or 'Ci' in 'Cialdini' surname. ('Ci' is spelled 'Ći')
Ł = 'W' in ''winner'
W = 'V' in 'Venus'
Rz, Ż = 'J' in 'Jean Michel Jarre'
Dż = 'J' in 'John Johnson'
Ś = Like 'Sh' in "Shalala lala' song by Vengaboys ('Si' is spelled 'Śi')
Ź = 'g' in 'magia' in Portuguese ('ʑ')
Ch = 'H' in 'Hello' or 'High' (Just ignore 'C', our 'Cheeseburger' 'Ch' is 'Cz')
Ę = 'ɛ', like 'e', in 'Kendall Jenner', it's not the best example though
Ą = Like in French 'Monde' (we would write it 'Mąd')
Ó = U, like in 'Museum'

theflowerswhoknowme7 też jestem polką :D ale i tak uważam, że polski jest trudny, wystarczy posłuchać :D
Mieszkałam w Polsce tylko trzy lata. Wtedy zamieszkałam w Angli i teraz gadam lepiej po Angielsku niż po polsku. I dare a English person to read that out!

As a foreigner living in Poland I remember I was like that in the beginning. Now I can say szczeczin like a pro!
+Horhe Vamp You monster, I cannot scroll to the comments below coz I am stuck trying to pronounce that word...
+Horhe Vamp It's Szczecin :)
Thats too easy. Throw in some more sz cz in there!
Yeah same I live in Poland too!
Horhe Vamp What do you think about: Konstantynopolitańczykiewiczówna or Szczebrzeszyn
Polish pronunciation is really fairly easy. Each letter generally always sounds the same, and their sound is pretty close to generic latin; their sound is clear, hard, always has the same lenght, accent is generally always the same (second to last syllabe), Polish is slow, you can hear every letter spoken.
How to ruin it? It is just COMPLETELY NON INTUITIVE for the foreigners beacause of our own symbols and unexpected sound of vowels and merged consonants. It just doesn't come to mind that 'sz' is 'sh', 'dż' is 'g' (as in 'gel'), 'ł' is like Portugese 'l' (just like in the word 'Brazil' pronounced in Portugese) or 'ą' is just like French 'ont'. It is not that there are dozens of them to learn - there are few, it's just about ten minute learning.
Main problem is that there are lots of them in ALMOST EVERY word! It's not only because of words of Polish origin containing sounds strange to one's ear, but also because Polish language has some kinky idea of 'polishing up' most of the foreing words coming from Latin, French, German, English etc. We exchange trivial r's to rz's, o's to ó's, l's to ł's, d's to dź's and so on; so in the end we often end up with something sounding completely different and looking barely like the original word.
blinski1 "Polish pronunciation is really fairly easy" this is not completely true always, it is not enough in all words to read word in Polish only with letters, it is possible in Russian (despite o and a)
nowy5 I don't know what you mean by 'it is not enough in all words to read word in Polish only with letters'. Care to elaborate:)
blinski1 nie wystarczy w każdym słowie przeczytać słowo po polsku tylko za pomocą liter
nowy5 Of course, there are also facial expressions and hand gestures, but they use them everywhere:)
blinski1 also ł is more like long u
You are doing great. It’s funny in a right way
1:21 Mieczysław no może tak :)
You read the letter Ł just like the english W, SZ like SH, CZ like TCH, Ą like OH, Ę like EW, Ó like OO(smooth) etc etc ;-)
This is my favorite comment on this video! Thanks! :)

7 YEARS NOW AND I'M STILL HERE LAUGHING AT THIS
Oh boy being polish and watching this makes me feel like a very smart person
Is Polish really that hard? If yes, I want to learn it!
+香口膠 You know... for foreigner that's really hard to learn :v We have many strange letters like "ę, ą, ł, dź, dż, ś, ć..."
and much more parts of speech than in english. Learning polish is very unpractical, 'cause only in Poland people speak Polish :
you know... in english is like "two, second, twice" and in polish "dwa, dwoje, dwojgu, dwóm, dwie, drugi, druga (...)". we have MUCH MUCH more words XD
+香口膠 You know, pronunciation is one thing, being hard depends on languages you already know. There are some rules you have to follow and that's it. It's not like English - in Polish, spelling indicates pronunciation perfectly (well, almost). I reckon our grammar is fucked up. Almost every word changes its form depending on the sentence and collocation it's used in, furthermore - words that change their forms have a lot of them. For example, let's take a word "come" - "przyjść". I guess there are 4 forms of "come" (plus "have", "will" etc.) and I've just listed 43 forms of "przyjść" plus words that are not considered as a verb. You have to know when to use each of them and the list is probably not over. We also have two plural forms of nouns (WTF). And it's just the beginning of the journey. If you like challenges - go for it and learn Polish, good luck! :)
+香口膠 I can help you xd
I can help you! ( I'm from Poland 😉)

+SIMcityplayer2002 Absolutely untrue. "z" often is combined with "r", "c", "s" or "d" to create a specific sound, but it's not silent. It's as if I said "h" is silent in "th" - it doesn't work that way. In addition to that, "z" is often its own sound, or even a word (a zero-syllable-long one)!
You could perhaps say that by modern standards that "c" that stands before "h" is silent. It's a simplification (especially since some regions still differentiate between "ch" and "h"), but not entirely incorrect.
