- Travel back in time and relive the iconic history the partnership the Indianapolis 500 and @Chevrolet Corvette have created, from the first time a Corvette paced the field in 1978 to its most recent time, in 2022.
I just bought a 2008 corvette Indy 500 pace car!
My neighbor literally has this and the 2006 one too I got to have a photoshoot with both of them!!
P my favorite has always been the 1978 Corvette pace car
I Like 1978 Chevrolet Corvette 25th Anniversary Special Indianapolis 500 Pace Car
I just had one of those come through our detail shop today.
@@JoMcD21 Really
I am planning on buying one this year, God willing.
It is in incredible pristine condition.
There’s also a 1975 convertible that only has 42,000 and some miles.
Planning on buying both of them. They are next to each other somewhere in a garage.
The Pace Car only has 30,460 miles.
It is a 1978 Corvette Pace Car.
I believe that shot of Tony Hulman in the 78 pace car was the last ever photo take of him.
He passed in 1977, and I am guessing the last one was him with AJ Foyt after Foyt's 4th. It was an Olds 88 for the pace car that year....
@@johnclerk1195 the photo in the 78 Vette was taken at the dinner in the fall of 77 when they announced the 78 Pace Car about 1 month before he passed.
@@gofastandwynn Ah, ok. Now I get it. Thanks for making that info correct.
I literally saw the cobra yesterday
I don't care about the safety car at all, the less FCY the better.
Getting pretty sick and tired of GM and Corvettes and Camaros.....there are plenty of other great cars out there...
What else should it be? Honda and GM are the only engine suppliers. I'm assuming you don't want the pace car to be a Honda Civic. No one else has a major interest in Indycar right now, so it makes no sense for someone like Ford to provide the official pace car in a series that they have no representation in.
Since 1994, GM has always provided the official pace car since Indy has been part of the NASCAR cup series, and I know back before 1994 there used to be other makes and models that were the official pace car of the 500
I haven't cared about the pace car in many years. I just assume it will be a Corvette or some other GM product...
