@@dfelixrx7 right by Garfield ave in between Whittier and Olympic. If you want some gems in the area there’s Tacos Al vapor el Canelo(steamed tacos), tacos el Sapo, Tony’s Italian deli, rios pizza and arrys super burgers. Super classic spots in the area you would enjoy
I feel you @abel5925 we lived right next to that park at the wyvernwood. We moved two years ago. I miss all the culture and it’s crazy to say but I miss the hood.

Im in Denver, anything similar to this you will find on Federal and even then its still not good. Tacos Acapulco on East Colfax is top tier. They offer Horchata Salvadoreña.

When I was a kid king taco was a food truck so many late night memories. Moms used to pick me up from school and one time she had picked up after she had got fresh tortillas and chicharrones from cinco puntos I had like 10 tacos in the back seat. It’s great to see East los on its feet and not washed out. Thanks for the trip down memory lane

I'm more familiar with the OC mex food places like El Toro Bravo in Costa Mesa (killer food) and Fiesta Grill in HB (best carnitas out there).....but cannot deny LA does good stuff.
I live out in the country now and there is zero decent mex food here.....I miss it so bad.
For carnitas you have to try Carnitas Uruapan in Santa Ana.
You wont regret it.

You hit some of my favorites. All those locations are legit. Im impressed you can tell the difference between the various meats. And you use the salsa correctly. 😆 Well done.
BTW, the nopales from 5 Puntos are the best because they're actually NOT slimey like other places. They are also always fresh, nice acidity, but with a kick. I always get a medium container to go, as well as a dozen hand made tortillas.
Looks like you missed the taco de res which is probably what they are best known for along with their carnitas. Next time.
If you add cilantro while cooking your nopales it reduces the liquid released by the nopal.

I just had a King Taco burrito, double meat, no rice and red sauce with a red sauce on the side :). I grew up in Cypress Park and my mom still stays out there. I go over and we walk to KT because its just down the street. One thing I will say about KT is that its not the best by any means, but its its own thing. The carne asada is unlike any other place so, much like McDonalds where you want a BigMac which isnt the best burger, but a McDonalds burger. Before In-N-Out ventured out of SoCal, KT is kind of the In-N-Out of Mexican food.

Growing up in LA and having a mexican bff, i spent more time in East LA and munching on their street food and food trucks.
Filipino was far from being introduced to public except eating them on sundays at the Filipino Christian Church at Union and Temple street in downtown!
