I’m still not sold on buying the new grom! I like everything but the silly custom holes that makes it look like a toy bike! Il wait to see how people customise it and I might change my mind! 😆
Are the gears shorter? One of my main complaints about the previous groms is how long the gears are, and how shifting up puts you out of the power band-if you can even consider them having one, lol.
I watched a thai video a couple weeks about this. Dude said the gears feel the same, same shift points basically, just a 5th gear at the end for cruising and fuel economy. They've had it for a year already. But no tech specs, just his opinion.
Closer gear ratios in the gearbox mean better performance through turns and other situations. This especially helps if you are racing the little bike because you can make final gear selections easier that suit the track you are at best.
Allow me to educate you on why Honda or any other manufacturer does not change things like suspension often. It is because they have long term contracts for parts, and they cannot just break those contracts. For example, Tokico which sold out to Hitachi a few years ago makes stock shocks for most motorcycles. Here is how the process goes, lets say Honda does a contract with Hitachi to make shocks, well Honda will bring in the machines to make those shocks. The machines are only setup to make a specific size shock, and the machines will cut the tubes, press the bushings, weld the caps etc. So Hitachi will use those machines to just make the specific model shocks they have a contract to make, and that contract cannot just be broken by Honda. Therefore all the shocks Honda gets for the length of that contract will all be the same. That in a nutshell is why the suspension has not changed. It is simply because Honda spends millions to make parts machines, then spends millions more to send those parts machines to factories to have those parts made. It is the exact same reason why a lot of cars today are literally still being made on chassis designed in the 60s and 70s. It is much cheaper to keep using something that works than to change it or create something new.
Oh trust us, we completely understand how the inner workings of mass manufacturing and contracts work. We just figured eventually they would want to upgrade the suspension, especially being that they've reworked the motor for the third gen and even the case covers for the second gen. It's all a numbers game that we understand. Just wishing the cries for that would be heard and addressed.
I think as a fail-safe, yes but until more people get their hands on them, it's tough to tell. I'm sure DHMotoring might be insightful in that department.
None of the bbk kits from the old models will work on the 22+ bikes. The engines are completely different. Biggest big bore you can get for this new one is the 149cc from DHM and it's looking like that's going to be about the limit. The position of the head bolts on the new model really limits how big of a piston you can fit.
There’s really no point in a comparison. The Z125 Pro is outdated and behind the power curve. The Grom has an updated [eco] engine with a 5 speed transmission and replaceable oil filter.
@@TSTindustries Do you think its a good bike to go get some groceries on? Maybe put a large basket on the back with a sign that says, "I'm a grocery getter?"
I’m 6’3” 240 pounds and roll stoppies and hit jumps all day long on stock suspension on my 2018. The suspension can handle more shit then most people demand out of their grom. Suspension change being the first thing you said you would do is almost comical to me sorry haha. Just thought I’d put that out there. Honda is perfection. Change nothing and don’t touch the motor. You’ll wheelie for years with only oil change.
Wish they would come out with a 250cc factory grom 👍🏆.
250cc 5 speed grom would be literally the perfect motorcycle.
@@charkswitlazers i couldn't agree more 👍.

Are the gears shorter? One of my main complaints about the previous groms is how long the gears are, and how shifting up puts you out of the power band-if you can even consider them having one, lol.
The gears are shorter and I think that's due to it being 5 speed now.
I watched a thai video a couple weeks about this. Dude said the gears feel the same, same shift points basically, just a 5th gear at the end for cruising and fuel economy. They've had it for a year already. But no tech specs, just his opinion.
@@willyjimmy8881 best knowledge out of all the comments. thx for writing this paragraph and somehow interpreting thai lol
I wonder if the 5th gear actually means anything.. like top speed isnt faster and 4th gear is reliable. So whats the 5th gear for?
Closer gear ratios in the gearbox mean better performance through turns and other situations. This especially helps if you are racing the little bike because you can make final gear selections easier that suit the track you are at best.
Need a headlight conversion kit
Haha love riding through deland with my grom👍....even riding out on state road 11 is nice👍
The best!
Only thing i would want from the new grom is the dash and 5 gear to put on my sf.
How did you guys get the red fairings for this grom? Thanks!
@@TSTindustries oOoOo... alrighty i'am looking all around, and i will look at your new videos. Thanks again!
@@TSTindustries Subscribed lol
Is the 2022 from going to be the same price or 500 or 1000 more?
Unfortunately, we do not know. Ask your local Honda power sports dealership within the next few weeks.
Will you be bringing this to the Smoky Mountain Small Bore event in June?
We will not be attending this year unfortunately!
@@TSTindustries oh man that stinks. Maybe next year.
as an ex gorm stunter, I'd like to know if the new motor is going to require an oil pump upgrade
I think as a fail-safe, yes but until more people get their hands on them, it's tough to tell. I'm sure DHMotoring might be insightful in that department.
TST I'm interested if the 181 Kitaco Neo BBK can fit on this new engine. Or some 180 cc bbk option anyway - that would be a good mod to watch.
None of the bbk kits from the old models will work on the 22+ bikes. The engines are completely different. Biggest big bore you can get for this new one is the 149cc from DHM and it's looking like that's going to be about the limit. The position of the head bolts on the new model really limits how big of a piston you can fit.
Can you not change the cluster from kph to mph like the last ones I know that I can on my 18 but was just wondering
The exhaust is 1/3 total wet weight of poor Grom. Probably gain 5-10 mph just changing the exhaust alone.
How much
Good Ole deland! I still live here too
That's awesome!
How about a comprehensive comparison between the new grom and the z125??
There’s really no point in a comparison. The Z125 Pro is outdated and behind the power curve. The Grom has an updated [eco] engine with a 5 speed transmission and replaceable oil filter.
@@travelinman482 isn't that a comparison?
@@williammackenzie115
No, not really.
@@travelinman482 🤣 ok boomer
@@williammackenzie115
😁😆😏😒
Can you modify it to a dirtbike , like switching the tires ??
Yes, you can switch the tires. We actually have knobby tires on our shop Grom.
Did you add high rise bars to that? It looks like they are high
those were stock bars
@@TSTindustries Do you think its a good bike to go get some groceries on? Maybe put a large basket on the back with a sign that says, "I'm a grocery getter?"
The 125 cc on the grom is a bit slow. The 2020 grom is good but it doesn’t have as much futures as the 2022 grom has.
Woop woop!!!! Awesome video!
🎉
I want red motard style HRC kit. So cool.
Us too!
Should have put sound from the bike video
do you live in deland??? i swear that’s where this video is
Yep!
I was surprised you didn't do a top speed.
Just deposited for a yellow 22’! For exhausts, I can’t justify spending $600 on a yoshi. Will you guys be selling/making more budget friendly options?
DHmotoring will be offering exhaust and intake combos I believe.
i LOVE how it looks
Agreed!
Awesome video!
Thanks!
Wait no way you guys are in deland???
Edit: Rc Hill Honda deland is where I just bought a bike!
We're right in Lake Helen!
possible to see drag race against knock offs?
Not hating on them. I just don’t know why someone would buy it. A 250 would be better if you wanted a little bike.
Og vs sf vs sp in a drag race. I like the new grom. I cant wait to buy one
We plan on doing a few videos, hopefully with all 3 models.
Ok stupid question, Og means old generation? What about sf and sp?
Top speed video of the 2022 grom stock.
I believe DHMotoring will cover that in his dyno video!
i have a 2018, and in my opinion i like the 2nd gen best
I like the GTA third person view.
Next video I'll walk around like a GTA character for you. 😉😅
I love my Grom!
