Tom T. Hall made a big impression on my life in the sixties and following decades. I wanted to write songs as a young boy.
I never learned music. My parents couldn't afford to have me taught music or buy me an instrument. But still, I wrote songs.
I became a lyricist. I wrote stories to sing. I had demos made and pitched them to publishers in Australia, America and in
Canada. Quite a few were contracted but went no further. Now in my seventies I collaborate with a musician friend. We
write for the love and pleasure of crafting songs. Thank you, Mr. Hall, Tom T. Thanks for sharing your great gift!

My favorite Tom T. Hall song is "Faster Horses". There's just something about that old cowboy's wisdom that always appealed to me.
I had been looking for watermelon wine all summer but the stores didn't have it. And I couldn't get the song out of my head. Finally, I found a bottle at a neighborhood store. That was last Friday, the day he died.

Isn't it ironic that this is posted just a few weeks before Tom's untimely death , it's as if this gentleman had a perception of what was just around the corner , it's posts like this that help to remind us of what we once had and what we are never likely to see again , thanks for the post
It's interesting that Tom T. Hall's biography was one of the first I read when I started this UA-cam channel. I've enjoyed learning more about him ever since.
Christopher, once again thanks for your comments, I'm an Australian and have been fortunate enough to have attended shows in the states and in Australia of many of the great singers and was so lucky in the late eighties to see a show in Branson Missouri where both Tom T and George Jones were on the same show,I got to meet Tom after the show and found him to be so humble ,he seemed to get quite embarrassed when people mentioned him when discussing the greats , but I am sure he need not have felt that way because that's where he belongs amongst the best , regards and thanks

The Year Clayton Delaney Died is my favorite! I play that one all the time. He had great story songs, but the way he plays guitar annoys the hell out of me
