What I like about the reveal of Zuko’s past was how much we didn’t know for a good while until Iroh explained. He had to actually win over the audience who thought he was just some bratty kid, and it took more time for some than others to be on his side. I hope they keep his introduction as a villain in the beginning for a good while before the reveal.
While I like that in the original, I actually hope they give us more background with Zuko and Azula. I think the advantage now, is that we as the audience already know how the general plot goes. So doing the live-action is an opportunity to experience more of the characters and their development. So I'm excited for more Azula!
The thing is, you and me already know zuko. We watched the series many years ago so when we see zuko in the first episodes we already see suko as this super cool antihero character. Recently i watched avatar with a friend of mine whome had never seen the series. To him zuko was a really annoying character at first. This live action series is gonna bring alot of new people and we would not want people to get these associations with our characters. Edit: to all you bozo's who think zuko's character being so insanely good has anything to do with him being a 2 dimentional clown in the first few episodes who 'wants his honor back', stfu im not gonna argue with you.
I think as long as the extra stuff they add is in the story that Iroh tells, it would work better. Or just flashbacks after that episode. But I agree with you they need to keep the introduction the same
Homie, my heart has sunk as far as expecting the same kind of feel. With the departure of Mike & Bryan I worry we're going to lose a lot of the influence that made avatar what it was, instead of it turning out like an M Knight film.
I mean, they still go to the air temple, and kyoshi island, and they could easily have made a pitstop between episodes, the line is very possible, just because the episodes play into eachother doesnt change the fact that they are still travelling from one pole to another, and they still do get distracted along the way
I love what avatar did with Azulas name. Ofc in the show we have it being based off her grandfather Azulon but also Azul is Spanish for blue and that’s the color of her fire
Sokka looks so emotionless in every promotional material. I really hope they don't change the character's personalities because that's the best part of ATLA.

I would actually love to see the dichotomy of their current roles as the perfect princess and the banished Prince. Like ever since his failure what has Azula had to endure from her scumbag of a father that just values her for her fire. Seeing his intense training of her vs Iroh's would be an amazing introduction. When Iroh screams again in the first episode. Azula should be the transition. Between the near torture training under her father and the many state sponsored war rallies she gets forced to attend as the only daughter. Even better if random generals train her cause she's not even at the palace until the finale. When he calls her back only to tell her the next mission. Brutal. But relatable... Both were abused children. Azula's abuse is almost self imposed though cause she chose a side and despite not knowing it at all is forced into a bloody war as a teenager. Let me repeat that. So that the headband is even better in live action as Aang meets people a year or two under Azula that have yet to turn completely indifferent to the rest of the world. Or maybe that's just me. Like her first action scene would be protecting one of the fire nation colonies on whale tail Island during the Bato portion. Since by the time that Book 3 comes around it is so secure it's a holiday destination despite its proximity to both the Earth Kingdom and Southern Water Tribe. She becomes beloved for her ferocity but becomes a killer for her father. Idk I always thought that was a cool Easter egg when Admiral Chan was on vacation on whale tail Island. That being Hakoda fighting on it in the comics, Aang wanting to visit, the Dai Li sending him there and then the fire nation eventually capturing it. Like that was all a big trap and Azula at the center of it would be the final beautiful gem that ties it all together. Leaving Bato injured in the final battle as the Southern Water Tribe finally retreats. A spectacular loss against the fire Lord's daughter. Edit: BOOMERANG SQUAD! Confirmed name.. Agreed. One of my favorite scenes in the show is when Zuko finds out that Zhao has captured the Avatar and Iroh is trying to comfort him. Zuko is standing on the deck with his back to the audience and when he turns, just for a second he looks sad and desperate, almost about to cry. But immediately changes his expression into angry scowl. He hides behind his anger, and it's a huge part of his character.
I really hope they don't do what they did in the movie with the water bending were there's water leaking everywhere when bending it. It looks sloppy and doesn't make sense, A: Where is all the excess water coming from?, and B: how could you lose water in vast quantities when you are supposed to be controlling it in the first place. And the first.
I feel like most people don't think about the real depth of Azula's character, and to be fair she's not really given too much depth in the cartoon. but when you really think about it she is honestly just another traumatized child that grew up with very similar circumstances to Zuko. I believe it was said by the creators of the show that they wanted to give her character a redemption arc at some point but they never got to that. So I think giving her character her own depth as well as time to develop and understand her circumstances and particularly her mental struggles that happened by the end of the show that we know would be nice. especially if they do intend to give her redemption at some point.
I think also they could try to humanise azula and play more into that mental health aspect that led to her breakdown. I think that setup could be really cool
Just imagine, that after sooka trow his boomerang. He runs away as soos as possible in a funny ways, just like what he does in the animation show. So funny
At first I wanted to see just how they are willing to have Azula show her backstory like how zuko did by trying to please fire lord ozai during season 2. Hopefully Netflix can probably show more on Azula’s side in season 1 especially ozai’s between the relationship of him and their mom to why he did what he did. Plus maybe they’ll eventually show Ty lee’s backstory more often f what’s it was truly Ike for her being the circus for season 2.
I'm hesitant about Azula being added in season 1. Hear me out. Season 1 is undoubtedly the most lighthearted season of the 3. The characters do silly stuff, Aang isn't taking things very seriously, the villains are goofy and incompetent. Season 2 really raised the stakes. As aang starts to take his duty as the avatar more seriously, we're very appropriately introduced to a much more threatening villain in Azula. Comparing the season 1 and 2 villains, Aang literally taunts Zhao and makes fun of him whereas Azula makes him genuinely fearful of his life. The villains mirror Aang's character ark. Each season, the villains get more and more threatening as Aang gets more and more powerful. I don't think adding such an effective villain as Azula in season 1 really works. Her introduction in season 2 really helps hammer home the point that the fire nation is no longer screwing around, and her effectiveness both as a fighter and a tactician perfectly matches the increasing stakes that are raised in season 2 and 3.
I suspect that season 1 won't be as goofy as the cartoon, partly just because it's live action, but also because much of the Avatar Fandom is much older now, so although comedy is good they'll be more interested in a somewhat more serious atmosphere.
We get it, the longer the watch time, the better for the algorithm. You don’t need to spend the first minute (15%) of the video telling us to stay until the end.
I'm like 75% sure they will be adapting some flashbacks from season 2 in season 1. From a logistical standpoint, if they want the actors to look younger in the flashbacks, they need to be younger. Most of the cast is at the age where you can tell if there has been a year or so between filming. Pre-filming would be ideal, but unlikely. Putting flashbacks in season 1 is the next best thing for continuity.
Them showing the Air nation genocide in more detail and the addition of Aang's adoptive parents they mention way waay back (Like a couple of years ago), is making me think they're gonna pay a bunch more attention to that aspect of the show and the traumatic impact it had on Aang and I am HERE for it. I am so ready for that to hurt us a whole lot more! I mean, Aang literally lost everyone and it was sorta glossed over in the animated series. And it looks like it won't be here, and I LOVE that idea.
You may not be pregnant, but you always deliver I love all the small details they're paying attention to. Do you know if they're doing one episode weekly or if they're dropping the first season all at once?
Now that we are closer to the release date. I'm worried that this Netflix adaptation won't be as good as the original series. I wasn't worried before, but now I'm freaking out. OMG what if Gordon cormeir has bad acting......I'm so scared
Only acting I've seen from Kiawentiio is in Anne With an E, which is another Netflix adaptation. (seems like Netflix is the platform for producers or creatives to go to for live action adaptions of books, animated shows, Wattpad fan fic, if you want it to be a series, while Disney is the one that focuses on iconic Disney movies). I know Ian had a small role in 13 Reasons Why seasons 4, but other than that I've never seen him in anything. I think he's a perfect Sokka. I knpow there's been a lot of misses with the Netflix adaptation, like Winx Saga, Death Note, Cowboy Bebop. But here has been some good one like A Series of Unfortunate Events, One Piece and I'm convinved Avatar will be good based on the showrunner they got.
Inlcuding Azula in season 1 just for Zuko's backstory? Sure, in an elaborated sense. Basically what they did in season 2 and 3 of the animated series but earlier. Only thing is the cartoon played him off as an actual villain at first and slowly gave us the core basics of why he's like that. Fleshing him out too soon sorta kills the "Bad guy, then confused wanderer, then conflicted redemption" arc he goes through. Actually, that's already something that's going to be hard in this version. His arc may be too quickly paced or drag out far too long and we'll start to hate him before he redeems himself. lol I think she'll just outright be more involved as well. Maybe she'll be the anti-Iroh of Book 1. Like the angel and devil on the shoulders. Which they actually portray in one of Zuko's dreams where Iroh and Azula's voices come out of the red and blue dragons that he later meets when re-learning fire bending.
Sokka was casted well visually. He looks like the human version of the cartoon. Can't wait to see if he's able to capture the humor of the character as well.
the only things that need to be respected and done correctly in my opinion due to how valuable they are to the series' identity are: the bending (SFX and martial art movements) and the cultural inspirations.
Again Netflix destroys the development of the character first being - Sokka. The heart of the show. And this is the first thing we know at this moment. I am 100% for sure that this will be the first change of characters. Netflix is trolling the subscribers. So fk you Netflix......🖕🖕🖕.
Love to hear this info. I was hoping they would change. Book water and book earth because they had a lot of filler episodes. I think it fit the format of a nickelodeon show. However, i liked that as we got to the end of book earth leading to book fire. All the filler episodes weren't really filler anymore. I don't know if they always had that vision in mind but its like all the episodes Had a purpose even if it wasn't directly plot related. Its almost unrecognizable to how the first season of the show was. I never researched it but i always theorized that the creators where forced to make it that way by nickolodeon but once the show became such a hit they were given free reign. Not sure if that's true but that's what it feels like. All that to say me personally there is a lot they can cut out of book water that i would be totally fine with.
As long as they respect the show and work on it with compassion and humility it will do great. Theres a giant built in fanbase including myself. We've waited 20 plus years for this
Cautiously optimistic about it… Mike and Bryan leaving is not a good sign, so hopefully Netflix has learned from their past mistakes (Cowboy Bebop, The Witcher, etc) and stay true to the source material. One Piece gives me hope though, since that one was very well done and adapted so far.
All the images we have seen are far are fantastic. This is by far the most perfected casting of a live action adaption I have ever seen. Generally, you get that one actor who embodies the role, but this is literally EVERY CHARACTER!! That said, I seriously need to see Team Avatar scenes in the trailer. I'm cautiously optimistic right now. Part of me can't help but assume the actors will embody the characters in personality as much as they do asthetically, but........and it's a BIG but....... part of me wonders why we haven't seen them speaking. I hope it has been a pourpose driven slow drip, to a trailer that shows Team Avatar banter, instead of a situation where the younger actors just don't jave the experience to pull off the emotional gravity we need in a live action show. Deep breath!! ☯️ 🌋 🐉 This is going to be amazing!
Yeah, the longer we've had to wait for a real trailer the more it's made me fear they were hiding something disappointing. But the Cowboy Bebop trailer looked great to me at the time and I was still disappointed. That said I'm remaining cautiously optimistic for this. Like even though I think Azula's actor looks too baby-faced, I'm hoping they chose her because she absolutely NAILS Azula's sadistic characterization while maybe adding a new note of disturbing because it comes from such a sweet looking person.
@@StillOnTrackI actually like the idea of Azula looking very harmless, just like a normal teenage girl, but in reality, she's an evil mastermind and a powerhouse. This will also be true for Ty Lee and Mai.
Changing lots of things from a beloved original work almost always leads to a disappointing result. Hopefully that isn't the case with this series, but I am skeptical. One Piece should be the example to follow here. Let's see how close they came to honoring the original show.
This is the first time in like 10 years that I’m actually hyped about something… but I’m still skeptical. I hope so much that they don’t ruin the show again as the movie did. Personally I think Zuko is by far the best character with the most interesting character development. Please Netflix, don’t ruin him! Make him great! Make the show great!
I’m really worried that they are going to represent Aang as really serious and that would be a mistake the best part of Aang was his child like play and his growth from being a child to becoming the avatar. Let hope they don’t F that part up.
I'm really concerned that they're going to change core values of the loved t.v. series by focusing on characters outside of the inner circle. Netflix really needed to stick to the source material here, especially after the enormous amounts of delays and audience reactions in the past. Hearing that they're bringing Azula in earlier makes me think that they're going to pull a Hollywood move and focus on her perspective over Zuko, Aang, Soka and Katara. With the world issues we face currently, Aang's whole inner battle of finding peace without taking more innocent lives is extremely relevant. I'm not the first or last person to think that this show will either do well or terrible depending on how the writers change the story.
Bryan & Mike stepping down is ICONIC with their characters. Kims quote "we felt in the direction charted... NETFLIX is VERY enthusiastic" 💀, Well I'm glad Netflix is, and the creators clearly aren't. Going to HAVE to hear their statements on it. The situation is definitely very reminiscent of the last avatar happenstance. And the Azula move is a typical hollywood gender cuck. Her intro into the series was FINE. It DOESN'T MATTER if someone doesn't show up until the second season. "a reason behind every change" liiike more female screentime?? Am I the only one who DOESN'T have an issue with season 2 childhood flash backs and the whole turtleduck tale? She DOESN'T NEED more backstory, but w/e I'm sure y'all will be happy with it. Really doesn't take a lot to understand the depths of her character, felt like the role alloted to her fit her character very well. Constantly striving for 'better/more' now she's finally getting it. Doesn't feel right. BUT w/e It's been a rollercoaster, but this is where I get off. I'll still watch, but I've officially given up on expectation.
You can think that, but they're literally just incorporating more content from the comics. Instead of actually trying to reason, you went on a whole tirade about a "gender cuck." They have the benefit of hindsight to make both Zuko and Azula more fleshed-out characters, which fits with the more serialized format that the shows going with. Please get a grip
Directly under her pinched hand, is that the image of a howling wolf in the water Katara is bending. It makes me think of the wolf armor that Sokka and his father wear. A tribal totem perhaps?
Question of the century...... who's going to be cast as the Boulder?

I think also they could try to humanise azula and play more into that mental health aspect that led to her breakdown. I think that setup could be really cool
The crane stance is actually a nice touch. Shaolin monks do crane stance and that's basically who the airbenders are based off of
My problem is that none of the actors look anything like the original characters
Azula is my favourite character!! I am very excited for this Tv ahow
We’re getting the trailer on Tuesday I watched a video about it and I’ve seen posts
These images are amazing... Sokka and this waterbending is just on point...❤❤❤❤ My fave is Aang...
Been waiting for an update for awhile thankyou avatarist
Just imagine, that after sooka trow his boomerang. He runs away as soos as possible in a funny ways, just like what he does in the animation show.
So funny
At first I wanted to see just how they are willing to have Azula show her backstory like how zuko did by trying to please fire lord ozai during season 2. Hopefully Netflix can probably show more on Azula’s side in season 1 especially ozai’s between the relationship of him and their mom to why he did what he did. Plus maybe they’ll eventually show Ty lee’s backstory more often f what’s it was truly Ike for her being the circus for season 2.
The Katara poster gave me goosebumps in a good way
Ok
It's goofy because it's a kids show so y'all should stop complaining
Though I doubt the adaptation will be good or will last long all this is interesting
We get it, the longer the watch time, the better for the algorithm. You don’t need to spend the first minute (15%) of the video telling us to stay until the end.
Seems like they’re gonna give azula a insane villain arc
Agaha , yea the Nobushi stand 😂 i was thinking the same
Boomerang bending 😭🔥😂
is there any info on why the original creators left?
Honestly, sounds like it’ll be a good adaptation. Can’t wait to see the air nomads get wrecked
Elements and their Martial Art Style
Air - Bagua
Water - Tai Chi
Earth - Hung Gar
Fire - Northern Xiolin
You may not be pregnant, but you always deliver
I love all the small details they're paying attention to. Do you know if they're doing one episode weekly or if they're dropping the first season all at once?
“katara always looking FIRE” 😂 she looks Water to me! great vid ;)
oh that’s a good one! 🤣
Now that we are closer to the release date. I'm worried that this Netflix adaptation won't be as good as the original series. I wasn't worried before, but now I'm freaking out. OMG what if Gordon cormeir has bad acting......I'm so scared
Grow up kid
nothing will ever be as good as the og show lmao
If there is a snippet of Leaves from the Vine in the live action I won’t be able to hold it together…
Never ecpected you were a for honor player.
It makes so much sense now, of course his boomerang always came back, Sokka was a boomerang bender.
His arc may be too quickly paced or drag out far too long and we'll start to hate him before he redeems himself. lol
I think she'll just outright be more involved as well. Maybe she'll be the anti-Iroh of Book 1. Like the angel and devil on the shoulders. Which they actually portray in one of Zuko's dreams where Iroh and Azula's voices come out of the red and blue dragons that he later meets when re-learning fire bending.
The original voice of Mai is such a nice lady, we share some relatives and I’ve met her a few times:)
the success of this show will ultimately come down to how good the action and bending scenes are, acrobatics etc.
Sokka was casted well visually. He looks like the human version of the cartoon. Can't wait to see if he's able to capture the humor of the character as well.
No he won't. They clearly said they change his whole character.
The girl who plays katara was in 'Anne with an E' and I think she was a good actor.
the only things that need to be respected and done correctly in my opinion due to how valuable they are to the series' identity are: the bending (SFX and martial art movements) and the cultural inspirations.
It really changes nothing lmao nice title
If you want a real challenge. Try mastering Boomerang Straightening!
Been a long journey, almost there!
I worried there isn’t much marketing and it’s not that far off now
Nah, not Boomerang Bending. Sokka is a prime Women Bender.
Back bender
Heart bender
i think women bend him more lol
Cewchie bender
Again Netflix destroys the development of the character first being - Sokka. The heart of the show. And this is the first thing we know at this moment. I am 100% for sure that this will be the first change of characters. Netflix is trolling the subscribers. So fk you Netflix......🖕🖕🖕.
The vfx the actors look really good so far I seen but it depends on the execution on everything else
"master your element" would make much more sense if Sokka's poster was him kissing Suki, as we all know what element Sokka bends: backs.
Let's just be patient and see what its like.
As long as they respect the show and work on it with compassion and humility it will do great. Theres a giant built in fanbase including myself. We've waited 20 plus years for this
i want to be positive but so skeptical. especially sokka he doesn't fit look wise imo. im open to being wrong.
Wow first absolutely love the content keep it up
Why are you making him go to Avatar State in all your thumbnails 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
i know lmaaaooooo it’s quite funny but yk that’s obviously the purpose of thumbnail is to attract people to click bait 😂🤣
0:08 same
Cautiously optimistic about it… Mike and Bryan leaving is not a good sign, so hopefully Netflix has learned from their past mistakes (Cowboy Bebop, The Witcher, etc) and stay true to the source material. One Piece gives me hope though, since that one was very well done and adapted so far.
I hope they keep Soka's sarcasm
Sokka actually has 'Back bending' , the meanest form of bending in avatar cause it only affects baddies fr
4:42
always lookin' *water* more like
All the images we have seen are far are fantastic.
"We just survived the Avatar drought"
Zelda fans waiting for Tears of the Kingdom: 😐🤨
its only gonna be 8 episodes?? and they spent how much money on it?
each ep is one hour tho
Each episode is an hour and will even have a slightly longer runtime than the original first season
Can’t wait!
Love the updates
They are gonna interject feminism into it as feminism is put into everything now… sad
God please don't fuck this up Netflix
AVATAR LAST AIR BENDER TIKTOK WITH THE CAST ANNOUNCED THE TRAILER COMES OUT TOMORROW!!!
BUT w/e
It's been a rollercoaster, but this is where I get off.
The kioshi ppl love Saltillo tile but not for the kitchen
i am so ready
Directly under her pinched hand, is that the image of a howling wolf in the water Katara is bending. It makes me think of the wolf armor that Sokka and his father wear. A tribal totem perhaps?
