My grandmother, an Immigrint, sang this over and over...I thought fo her often singing this when I was in Vietnam............She was the total Patriot...RIP, you'll always be in my heart.
Right after the announcement that Pearl Harbor had been bombed, the radio station that my mother was listening to, played this rendition as she was ironing. I was 2 months old. I melt every time I hear it and yet feel so proud to be an American.
GOOD! I know you & some others would love to go back to1943 & before so they can “maga” but it ain’t gonna happen. It’s over, like Stevie Wonder sang, stop trying to live in a Pastime Paradise. AMERICA IS FOR ALL NOW 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸. MARA 2020!!!! Make America Respectable Again✌️
I remember Kate Smith very well, my parents listened to her this song and emotion was so deep in our souls, how proud we are and were back then. God Bless our America 2020.. Keep America Safe for our grandchildren.
Here's to all the heroes that have died to keep us free: THANK YOU brothers & sisters! I will think of all of you and your families as Memorial Day approaches!! God bless you, and God bless America!!!
This is Kate's Smith best performance of God Bless America. Her first singing of it was in 1938 on radio, but this is from the movie, This is the Army, from 1943. As many edits of this perfomance do, her next to last line is edited out since it was talked over in the movie. That's unfortunate. Her original 1938 radio performance is also on UA-cam. Shame on the NY Yankees and the Philadelphia Flyers for discontinuing the playing of Smith's rendition of God BLess America, because she sang racist song in 1931. The song at the time was a popular one also sung by Paul Robeson. Kate Smith was not a racist and she also raised more money selling war bonds during WWII than any other star. By the standards used to criticize her, we should disban the Yankees organization for taking so long to hire an African American baseball player - 8 years after the Dodgers.
My momma and I loved this tune. She was part of that greatest generation 1934-1989 and I came from that... Love in Christ Jesus. Amen, Amen. He has given us seven years of life... Thank you God the father, God The Son and The Holy Spirit for sending us President Trump.
There's an attack on American heritage the Bible says he who is without sin among you let him first cast a stone at her if God judges us all on one moment in our life may God have mercy on us

Irving Berlin wrote "God Bless America" in 1918, but it wasn't recorded until Berlin revised the song in 1938 as war clouds gathered over Europe.
Wonderful thanks for posting
I love this song. I love America. God Bless us all.

Except she didn't do anything wrong in this case. She was no racist. On the contrary, she spoke against it.
Still true today, to bad we have a generation that is not as patriotic. Shame on us.
Performances by the Jackson Children's Choir and Kate Smith wonderful and great tributes to our deserving war heroes
WW1 influenced him.
как красиво поет
The definitive performance... but still not a very good copy. :-(
What happen to our patriotism????????
We need to play this for Joe Biden (the anti-American) to remind him what our wonderful country is all about!!
Remember the words of Trump " anyone who joins the military is stupid".
