Somehow this is, step by step, exactly what I needed! Man I can't congratulate you the much I want. There's a game called ADOFAI and I needed to fit 11 beats in the time of 8 and now I know wxactly what to do! Thanks really really a lot!
First of all great video!!! What I don't understand is why you have the 37 go with the metronome and not the 21. Actually you've started with the 21 on the beat, but at a certain point you changed when you showed how the last note of the two rhythms is supposed to overlap. I don't understand why this couldn't be shown mantaining the 21 on the metronome beat. I hope you can clarify this for us. Thanks a lot. Cheers
I get what you mean. In reality there should be no accents when playing a 21:37 or 17:38 but the accents are to show how the subpolyrhythms correlate to playing the large polyrhythm.
Hey bro, you're doing such a fantastic job breaking down every single aspect of the polyrhythms. I wonder why it is possible to notate the last group of 7 over 4 with just a quarter note and an 8th note. Could you give me a quick explanation of that please? Thanks and again great stuff
Thank you! The last 7:4 is notated with a double dotted quarter note and a 16th note. A double dotted quarter note is worth 7 16th notes so altogether they're worth 8 16th notes, or 2 quarter notes.
loved it! without knowing this i thought you were an alien but now i see you're just a maths guy like me, and this vid is so well made/edited!
Amazing! Thank you!
You da man! I would love to see more basic polyrhythm tutorials like this
This is a fantastic video! I'm going to start using this technique on my polyrhythms
Fantastic break down!
Dude, I love you
Amazing tutorial

What skills do I need before I try this?
Start trying basic polyrhythms! Have fun, I’m still learning too
Not sure if accenting the start of your subgroups of 7 or 9 is a good idea, it kinda "spoils the trick".
