This interview wore me out! Dang! Robin was so CLASSY! Loved his child face . He always stood on stage so gracefully. Hand tucked, foot patting, other hand to the ear. Fanny , be Tender with my love , my FAVORITE! ❤️🌹❤️
Robin is so down to earth and natural with no airs and graces. Sooo opposite to this interviewer - who comes across with a superior attitude and wants to argue about everything. Robin handled it all so beautifully and was totally unfazed by it. Robin has a great sense of who he is and someone's false superiority he probably pities.
The Bee Gees should NOT apologize for there success during that period. They are ARTIST (and timing helps a lot too)..thank god for the brothers gibb..
He's so enthusiastic and full of vitality and enjoyment of his own experience. Love that, the true sign of someone doing what they love. I think he really enjoyed the fame and the fundamental integrity of the Gibb brothers creations. The interviewer is trying very hard time and again to find a negative, but that may just be him playing devils advocate. Robin sees it all in the positive. Bless him.
Everything Robin said is true . Currently, there are few good songwriters, who may not have the opportunity to show their work. A flood of filth is released day and night, through the media. If it depends on me, my descendants will continue to enjoy good music. My granddaughter (10 years), already loves BGs! The intelligence and education of Robin to answer impertinent questions, is remarkable! (Brasil)
I personally feel that the Bee Gee's music in Saturday Night Fever is too good for the movie. The movie would have been boring and just like "our" very own Saturday nights without that soundtrack. When the music hit, that movie and soundtrack took off, and there is nothing that is going to keep either out of the social idiom. The Bee Gee's are icons and will live in forever.
The host was very hardly trying to make the BeeGees look like they were a joke. The only joke in here was the host. In fact ten years after this show the BeeGees have still the most prolific music catalogue in the world. It is estimated to be worth 500 million $. Not to mention 300+ million records sold. The BeeGees are absolute Legends🙌
Robin had so many hits solo. I loved his music. It would make you want to dance. His voice was beautiful. He was so intelligent. He did so many types of music. He wrote the Requiem for The Titanic with his son shortly before his death. I admire The BeeGees and Robin so much. I am glad everything fell into place for them. They deserve. God bless this wonderful, talented family. ❤️🌹❤️
Julian Glass, THE BEE GEES WERE THE BEST GROUP EVER. THEY WROTE AND PRODUCED THEIR OWN SONGS . BACK THEN THAT WAS AMAZING, AND OH MY GOODNESS THEIR VOICES WERE LIKE KNOW OTHER . THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER GROUP LIKE THE PHENOMENAL ( BEE ♥️ GEES ) 👍🏻🤗👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 R.I.P. ANDY, MAURICE, ROBIN GIBB. BARRY MAY GOD ALWAYS BE WITH YOU AND ALL YOUR FAMILY. 👍🏻♥️🤗👍🏻
BeeGees are so good they’ve attracted a lot of envy They didn’t comport themselves like great tortured artists, and they were working class Two things the envious ones can have a go at them about
I agree completely, they did create so many unforgettable songs, the Saturday night fever soundtrack was no. 1 for 6 months, that's longer than any of todays music even gets played regularly on the radio, I find that impressive
What is the pure sense of music...? Making people feel.Ant thats exactly what the Bee Gees did. From the 1st song Ive heard by them, nothing else could deeper influence my soul.Listening to their music is a special emotional expirience everytime, again and again...
The Gibb brothers had genius. If you read some of the books about them (I gather a new one is coming out in the autumn), you get a sense of that. Somewhere between the bandleader father and singer mother, the DNA came together to provide all of us with unforgettable songs and arrangements. The tight harmonies - o m'god - so separate and yet so together. Ás for falsetto - in some early songs, Robin sings with a very deep voice. BTW, thanks for uploading this - it's no longer available on BBC.
The BeeGees are their own unique performers and Composers. NOBODY, and that includes this "wanker" can ever pin them down and make them fit "their" mold. The BeeGees stand strong and alone...because at their heart and soul, they ARE their own men...and WERE that from the beginning.
Robin was incredible. The rude and agressive tone of the questions only blame the interviewer, who failed to remember that the reason why we are listening to this has nothing to do with him, but with the guest, a great artist, gracious enough to agree for this interview.
Seems like Robin has to say something several times before this interviewer guy "gets" it. Oh well, However, there is no music the Bee Gees did that they should ever be anything but VERY proud of. Trying to ask if they regret having contributed to the Disco music period (and they weren't the only ones, for heaven's sake) is like asking Picasso if he regrets his blue period. (By the way, Picasso couldn't sell his blue period works then, but they are his most popular now. See WIKI.) The Bee Gee's music was the back drop of people's lives for many decades and had a big hand in making us all what we are today. All of it, every little scrap and shred of it, contributed to the whole and made what we had, and what we now have, exceedingly valuable.
It's almost like the Bee Gees have to defend Saturday night fever. what a lot of rubbish. as Robin said, one of the biggest albums EVER. They should never feel bad about the disco era. They were and still are number 1
I'm a Robin FAN, more NOW than ever before. I respect all of his answers to this KNOW BODY. Just another leach getting another "free ride" on his fame and fortune..
I'm wearing a smirk at the thought of Barry being on this interview. He may have pulled the second most famous celebrity walk-off ever. Rob seems infinitely more patient. People need to understand how those men have had to defend everything they did and prove themselves over and over and never got the respect from the industry they earned.
This interview breaks my heart. Poor Robin, having to put up with this. The whole interview totally stinks!!! If I would have been Robin, I'd walked out on that joker!
Robin was better when he was interviewed without his brothers; he is very talkative and animated--in some interviews with Barry, he is quiet and moody. Barry drained the energy out of him, lol. I love these guy though. I am just getting to know more about them and they are fabulous.
Did you think my comment was putting down the huge catalogue of FANTASTIC music by the Bee Gees? I certainly hope not! I absolutely love everything about the Bee Gees! They are, and always will be, Icons!
I agree wasn't that nice to our robin bit tough, and rob remained a true gentleman n kind guy. Deserved better. No respect here for lovely robin.he held his own. Well done you beat him rob.
Robin was my favourite Bee Gee. He was the intellectual of the three, and had such a beautiful, soulful singing voice. The fact that this interview was part of the Hard Talk series, ruined it for me. More could've been achieved from a pleasant line of questioning...... I won't be watching another interview from this toxic series.
To those of you that think Robin was treated unfairly and disrespectfully this is the raison detre of the programme HARDtalk provides "in-depth interviews with hard-hitting questions and sensitive topics being covered as famous personalities from all walks of life talk about the highs and lows in their lives."[
Not defensive. The host was out of line to keep insisting that the brothers were pushed into the business. They really had more of a natural beginning.
This jerk of a host is really trying to get Robin Gibb going... he should have known better! Robin Gibb (as well as his brothers...) was truly a GENTLEMAN... 💙💛🌹💜🍎🇺🇸
Saturday Night Fever wasn't my favourite and I didn't enjoy their disco music that much. It was played so often on the radio that it became a little grating. It's like having too much chocolate and getting sick of it. Their earlier music is forever music.
Doesn't strike me as odd actually that era-defining music like SNF experienced a backlash. The stuff that replaced them on the charts experienced the same backlash (ex. Journey in the 80s and Nirvana in the 90s). Era-defining music always has that lifecycle: popularity to the point of insanity, then a backlash in the next decade, then 30 years later everyone returns to it free of baggage and says, "Holy sh*t, this stuff is wonderful!" As long as one understands that lifecycle, there's no reason to resent it. For the price on one mere decade of radioactive uncoolness, the Bee Gees' catalogue has centuries of respect and admiration ahead of it. Small price to pay, really.
I know first hand that Roy Orbison is Robin's hero. I've always wondered what influence Tiny Tim had on his singing style. And get TipToe through the Tulips out of your mind, 'cause Tim had much, much more than that in his reportoire. Give it a look and you'll wonder with me.
Karen et al. The interviewer is probing but not rude or disrespectful. This is not an entertainment interview for the artiste’s promotional purposes or to suck up to his ego. This guy is using journalistic techniques. Robin would be well aware of this when he agreed to take part. He would not be thinking he wished he hadn’t taken part.
I found him very rude.yes to some extent he’s a journalist but he defiantly had a chip on his shoulders. We love the Bee Gees .he needed have mentioned Andy as it is still a very painful subject as I just lost my brother too so I know. The sun doesn’t set on a legend.i don’t need any reply thank you.but appreciate you posting this Julian. Cheers
Nonsense! They have been interviewed by far bigger names without this man's attitude. Its got nothing to do with sucking up, its got everything to do with 'personality' ease and making it enjoyable for the audience. This man might be better at interviewing a political candidate.
Oh mein Schreck😳.Da sah Robin Gibb schon sehr angegriffen aus(wenn man das so sagen darf?).Aber, die Stimme scheint/schien da noch fast die gleiche zusein
Sorry. My comments were to the "Hard Core" commentator/interviewer. My irritation is with people that can be critical, but don't have any REAL talent. Kinda like the "rock critics" that dogged Led Zeppelin all their years...at least they proved them ALL wrong.
I agree he shouldn't be Rude to Robin like that and not to his brothers either
The interviewer was extremely rude to Robin, who was so an amazing talent.
I noticed that as well. Robin handled it very well.
The interviewer Was angry cause he was loosing his hair lol 😂
The Bee Gees should NOT apologize for there success during that period. They are ARTIST (and timing helps a lot too)..thank god for the brothers gibb..
And they did it their way, uniquely Bee Gees!!!!!there will never be another group and song writers like them.
Robin is very smart,RIP Robin, you and your brothers are the best.
No one like the Bee Gees. They are a catagory of their own!
Da sah Robin schon sehr stark angegriffen aus
Bee Gees are legends to be respected. Saturday night fever soundtrack is iconic and off the chart brilliant.
I think it's illuminating to hear this man alone, always easy to underestimate part of a team. Robin impresses on his own merit.
People: it IS called Hard Talk - but nevertheless, he could have been nicer to Robin - and Robin is a gentleman from head to toe!
Yes hes quite condescending towards robin .he needs to listen to him what hes saying not bitch at him
He's so enthusiastic and full of vitality and enjoyment of his own experience. Love that, the true sign of someone doing what they love. I think he really enjoyed the fame and the fundamental integrity of the Gibb brothers creations. The interviewer is trying very hard time and again to find a negative, but that may just be him playing devils advocate. Robin sees it all in the positive. Bless him.
Robin did handle that creep incredibly well. God Bless him. I LOVE THE BEE GEES, and always will.
Everything Robin said is true . Currently, there are few good songwriters, who may not have the opportunity to show their work. A flood of filth is released day and night, through the media. Sigo amando Bee gees com todo o coracão! Em especial Robin! ❤❤❤
So beautifully said 👍🏻

Robin was so sweet and lovely in this interview. So sad when the interview topic turned to Andy. I love all four of the Gibb brothers!!
Robin had so many hits solo. I loved his music. It would make you want to dance. His voice was beautiful. He was so intelligent. He did so many types of music. I am a malaysian chinese boy ,but i need to admit todays musician is nothing compared to the past.

Arrogant interviewer! I love the way Robin handled this as the true gentleman that Robin was. ~Marz
you are so right they are the best they wrote there music and i am so glad i grew up with them love them and i still listen to them today 2021
BeeGees are so good they’ve attracted a lot of envy
They didn’t comport themselves like great tortured artists, and they were working class
Two things the envious ones can have a go at them about
I agree completely, they did create so many unforgettable songs, the Saturday night fever soundtrack was no. 1 for 6 months, that's longer than any of todays music even gets played regularly on the radio, I find that impressive
Typical BBC, Robin was such a gentleman and what he said was true!
What is the pure sense of music...? Making people feel.Ant thats exactly what the Bee Gees did. From the 1st song Ive heard by them, nothing else could deeper influence my soul.Listening to their music is a special emotional expirience everytime, again and again...

I noticed that too. now I know I am right.
God bless Robin!
Sempre affascinante, anche quando era dimagrito molto!..Robin je t'adore!💕💖♥️💝
Die Stimme von Robin gibb gibt's nicht noch mal .Die bee gees sind Legende werden weiter hin über Generationen bleiben
We love beegees they are amazing trio singer Barry, rob & robin
The BeeGees are their own unique performers and Composers. NOBODY, and that includes this "wanker" can ever pin them down and make them fit "their" mold. The BeeGees stand strong and alone...because at their heart and soul, they ARE their own men...and WERE that from the beginning.
Robin said it right
Robin was incredible. The rude and agressive tone of the questions only blame the interviewer, who failed to remember that the reason why we are listening to this has nothing to do with him, but with the guest, a great artist, gracious enough to agree for this interview.

I'm a Robin FAN, more NOW than ever before. I respect all of his answers to this KNOW BODY. Just another leach getting another "free ride" on his fame and fortune..
Amo Robin!

Saturday Night Fever served The Bee Gees well. It made them well known then they advanced past it.

I love you Robin Gibb you are an amazing man so talented in millions of ways I love you ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💔💔💔💔💔💔💔😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥💔😥
The interviewer has no feel or sense of who he is interviewing or what he is trying to elicit from the interview.
I'm wearing a smirk at the thought of Barry being on this interview. He may have pulled the second most famous celebrity walk-off ever. Rob seems infinitely more patient.

Poor Robin, having to put up with this. The whole interview totally stinks!!!
If I would have been Robin, I'd walked out on that joker!
Would so much more enjoy only Robin speaking. Just R o b i n. 💓
Robin was better when he was interviewed without his brothers; he is very talkative and animated--in some interviews with Barry, he is quiet and moody. Barry drained the energy out of him, lol. I love these guy though. I am just getting to know more about them and they are fabulous.
Haha. I was just thinking that for the quiet one, he has a lot of thoughtful and accurate things to say. Too bad I'm too young to have met them.
You mean he was resentful towards Barry, and moody. Yes. Barry did no draining.
Listen To The Wise Man
¡ ES ADMIRABLE!!!
Did you think my comment was putting down the huge catalogue of FANTASTIC music by the Bee Gees? I certainly hope not! I absolutely love everything about the Bee Gees! They are, and always will be, Icons!
I HATE that they always had to defend the fever era!!!!!!!! Interview them in 1978 and people were CELEBRATING their music! It's so infuriating!!!
Haters will hate !!! the Bee Gees 'the best' at whatever they recorded
Rude interviewer. Robin was so gracious despite his constant prodding.
I agree wasn't that nice to our robin bit tough, and rob remained a true gentleman n kind guy. Deserved better. No respect here for lovely robin.he held his own. Well done you beat him rob.

to be unfair and disrespectful?
btw-‘who’ think, not ‘that’ think
raison d’etre
you’re welcome
This interview is very annoying and Robin is so polite I would have smacked him in the face.
I need to go back and see part one. Robin seems a bit on the defense and I need to see what this guy said in part 1 to get him that way.
💙💛🌹💜🍎🇺🇸
Robin would of made an excellent politican due to his intelligence and self awareness. 😊
Robin meu amor maior saudades
Why is this bloke interviewing Robin as if Robin is a politician and has to be held to account for something?
Robin
The prosecutor … I mean interviewer, just seems to be trying to bait Robin throughout the interview.
Saturday Night Fever wasn't my favourite and I didn't enjoy their disco music that much. It was played so often on the radio that it became a little grating. It's like having too much chocolate and getting sick of it. Their earlier music is forever music.
2020
Non comprendi
It's nice to see Robin being so generous to this dunce. Good Lord, this guy isn't skilled at all. 🙄 I think Robin should have walked out.
Robin, siempre educado, amable, gentil, brillante, talentoso, pero creo que para este tipo de entrevistadores, tuvo que ser rudo.
Doesn't strike me as odd actually that era-defining music like SNF experienced a backlash. The stuff that replaced them on the charts experienced the same backlash (ex. This guy asks a question but then doesn't let Robin talk. How rude!
i hope Robin is gonna be o.k.
shame he wasnt
This prescenter is hard work, Should of been prescented by someone who knows something about music, Tezza the Manch........
♥️
Andy wasn't clean when he died. He was really drinking hard those last days.
I know first hand that Roy Orbison is Robin's hero. I've always wondered what influence Tiny Tim had on his singing style. And get TipToe through the Tulips out of your mind, 'cause Tim had much, much more than that in his reportoire. Give it a look and you'll wonder with me.
Weird interviewer. At that stage, how could Robin do anything but celebrate their phenomenal success?! They have nothing for which to apologize.
I love it Robin is getting testy with this interviewer I would too. Guy was a jerk.
The host is obnoxious! He doesn't know what he is talking about and constantly talks over his guest. Robin was trying to answer, only to be cut off.
I found him very rude.yes to some extent he’s a journalist but he defiantly had a chip on his shoulders. We love the Bee Gees .he needed have mentioned Andy as it is still a very painful subject as I just lost my brother too so I know. What year was this?
U nas dużo przestępców podpina się pod osobę wysyłająca wiadomość dlatego nie wiem czy ty jesteś prawdziwy Robin???
Listening to this combative interviewer is torture. Robin handled it well but he should not have had to endure it.
Robin won this debate. This interviewer sucks.
@uselessjoe no Maurice was married to Lulu
Excuse me but this interviewer is an apple.
tv talk
don't like beatles,why?just don't like their magnetic
Robin looked sick. He needed to of ate food, not be a vegetarian. Plus he had cancer, could be why he looked like that.
I don't appreciate this interviewer's jibes. BG's were are brilliant. Show some respect especially here when Robin was so ill.
he was married to LuLu for a while
No that was Maurice not Robin.
This interviewer is horrible and shows clearly what can happen when police try and pretend to be non-police.
