Great vid again. If ever in area again, in the parade ground there is a big structure you can go in which houses the big boy guns like afghan war canons, tanks and even a train mounted gun.. well worth the look
Ah yes I walked right past that.
I love these trips out to different venues - great to see 😊
This is exactly what they should do with these places, make them so the public can visit these places because we love history instead of boarding them up and leaving them to rot away which is an absolute travest. This was so cool to see @Secret Vault xx
Great video - thanks for showing us round. Nice to see how well they've preserved everything and to walk through the tunnels. 👍
I can remember going to fort Nelson a few years ago, and they do a WW2 reenactment with people all dressed up as the British, the Americans and the Germans. And it was defo worth every penny, a lot of the staff that work there are volunteers. Glad you enjoy coming to Portsmouth my home town
It's great to see a place that is not smothered in graffiti, Very interesting, Matthew 👍👍
One of your better ones Mat. Shared this with Tino of lost battlefields.
Amazing vid Matt. The drone fortage at the end with the fort, sun light and black clouds in the background....holy shizzz. You are a true drone ninja.
Fantastic Matt, very many thanks, superb quality video and great commentary!
Incredible drone footage and I loved the visual affects with the count down. AMAZING 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Love Fort Nelson, some incredible and unique pieces often on display there. The Burmese Bronze (dragon) and Ximenes Canon are works of art.
Great video..in 1986 I got work placement on the restoration mainly on the banks chopping & winching out old tree stumps...back breaking work...its changed a bit now!
Enjoyed that.
Thanks Matthew!
👍👍👍👊😎
Another awesome vid thanks Matt. They should charge for that. Its worth a look.
The weather slowed me down over the last week mate I'm hoping to be able to get out there we got a tonne of locations yet to have a look at anyway all the best m8
Wow very amazing place to visit , are you going back for a part 2 to look at the missing rooms and tunnels due to the short time you had ? I really enjoyed watching this video , reminds me my visits of forts like theses ones in Canada when i was in school. (very similar forts). U.K is on my bucket list to visit, that is for sure. 👍✈
Been here many times and I like it
Absolutely love your channel very addictive and your knowledge superb 👌 thankyou 😊 wish I could give you a thousand likes, I will have to vist this place with my fiance, she would love it.
We live near Portsmouth but never been to this fort but I have been to Newhaven fort but didn't fully explore as my daughter wouldn't go in the tunnels but now she may do know shes a lot older
Great vid matt very interesting loved the drone and music after that was great video👍👍👍👍
Great vid cheers Matt
Great vidthe cannon at 37.00,I would guess the camber on the wheels is because the axle is on axle stands, once the weights back o the ground they straighten up. Fond memories of being a WW11 re enacter and staying in the dort over a weekend. Highlight was being a passenger on their Sexton tracked vehicle, charging round the cobbled parade ground, once the public had left in the evening, with sparks flying of the steel tracks. Fantastic place to lose yourself for many interesting hours.
You found are little secret fort..amazing been going here for 30 years...
Love the intro tune.
Omg I loved the guns! I never knew they could be so beautiful!❤❤❤
I think this may have been a star fort previous to what it is now 😍👍
As far as I know all the forts on Portsdown hill have been this design. From what I remember about what I was told last time I went there, they were built as a first line of defence to protect Portsmouth from land invasion from the north. If the hill forts failed then they would have had to get through the Hilsea lines which went the whole length of the northern edge of Portsea Island.
It wasn't.
Nice little day out that we have fort Paull in east riding of Yorkshire but not been it's not accessible to me who can't drive😊
The shell had the studs so it would spin through the RML cannon
I'm here
Love all your videos Matthew, great stuff
I worked there for a few year's when old mick who lived on site run the show fond memories
Awesome video
What a fantastic place 🥰👍
this looks an awesome place thank you Matt for showing this place
I know a lot of ppl on here probably unfamiliar with this but the automated voice room sounds like the guy who plays Franz Lohner in the vermintide games
Nice tour round Matt, can’t complain when it’s free. Btw have you been to the ROC bunker in Cuckfield, Sussex? It’s restored and they just announced their open days for this year. Andy UK
We are still one of the last countries to use a rifled barrel in the chally 2! It's dead accurate a day we needed it At the time for the HESH rounds but chally 3 is being upgraded to a smooth bore like the Leopard 2 and abrams
Thanks Matt we presented as normal have a great weekend
brilliant video to watch thanks take care from me kenneth. ❤😊❤
Wow all that to explore without supervision!
Interesting Matthew Thank you very much
Wouldn't the wheels be angled like that so the recoil didn't project it straight back but make it start to circle and so slow it down. Great video.
good explore matt in joy watch
Can you imagine how loud it would be inside, firing those cannons?
Great place 🔥
pretty sure the steps into the wall were to tie up the gate once open? maybe, just a thought.
I love this place
RML means rifle muzzle loader
Have you been to Newhaven Fort they've got underground but not all of it is on show
not been to that one.
Brilliant explore and video 👍 thanks for sharing Matt really enjoyed this, much better without shite music and voiceovers that they did in those cheddar caves lol just a few annoying screaming kids lol 🤣 much prefer yr voiceovers 👍👍👍 great video, look forward to seeing yr next video thanks again 👍
pretty sure some of the tunnels are closed as there is endangered species of bats in them , my dad went here years ago and you used to be able to go down there. some of them you can pay to go down for an exclusive tour though.
intros are mint mate...👍

❤👍🏼
They were stalls actually not stables. They tie the poor Horse Beings to the cu*tin wall in um so they can cram more horses into the same space. Even crueler than stables.
Yeah these were victorian times...
Whoop!
