- A selection of helicopter action clips from the 1973 TV movie Birds Of Prey, directed by William A Graham and starring David Janssen and Ralph Meeker, focusing on the Hughes 500C and Aerospatiale SA.315B Lama helicopters.
A great movie for its time ... and no CGI!
Epic, honest copter action and the always solid David Janssen. It doesnt get much better.
I've only seen this movie once, when it aired on TV. I remember it well.
A really great movie. I'm so happy someone put it out here.
I was lucky to see it at the cinema!
I watched this movie with my dad when I was eight or nine years old....
I could never find her anywhere to see her again....
Thank you very much for uploading these scenes of it that bring me very good memories !!!!
Thank you so much!!!
It's my pleasure! These scenes were all I knew of the film until the internet educated me. The whole movie is available on UA-cam, in case you've not found it ua-cam.com/video/xYQoSlHDN48/v-deo.html
Great flying by Jim Gavin in the 500, he really liked that bird.
It shows!!
Loved this movie as a kid
I remember watching this movie, a long time ago with my late father
Have you noticed? In the US movies, the bad guys are always flying french helicopters... (Birds of prey / Deadly encounter / Die hard, etc...)
The bloke in the Alouette he just has to climb higher and the Hugues will die😊😊
So we’re just using pump gas in a turbine now are we? 😂
Gas turbine engines of that type can temporarily operate using gasoline.
How does he fly a helicopter with only one hand? Don't you also have to have one hand to operate the "collective"?
TV movie magic ;)
Although using a headset is much preferred, during level flight a pilot can temporarily friction/release the collective using their left hand for controlling the cyclic.
The sound on this clip SUCKS!
Sure does! Digital transfer from a VHS which had been copied from a VHS which had been taped from TV. Ah, the 80s!
Idiots with money by Robinson and they can't even fly underneath power lines just as high
